At first I was baffled by this! I have a number of tote bags and they are doing exactly zip for me. When I looked into it, many of my chosen bags are gusseted and organic (= more $$$), and also (much to my dismay) using two print providers that don't print those tote bags anymore! I will have to change print providers on those... 😒 but that also means I can charge a more competitive price!
Great information! Yes I want to, won't lie very intimidated by this, my shop is less than a month old so still trying to find a routine. QQ do you have a video on the customer facing communication? I've watched a lot of great videos on POD but none that I have found go over what happens when you get an order. The notification the seller recieves, what the customer recieves as a confirmation; who generates etsy or is that manual from the seller? Also, once the order gets processed what do the notifications look like internally and externally to the customer?
Such a helpful tutorial, thank you so much for sharing all of this! I have one small question. I remember that you said that white won't print out on the natural tote bag, but I noticed that your design does have white on the books pages. Will that not print out at all and the colour of the tote will just be visible. Or do you adjust the white colour so that it is slightly off-white, and that might print instead? Thanks so much for any help you can give with this x
I am offering tote bags in my shop but have not sold any yet. I think I need to rework some of the designs. I love tote bags, though, and have a ton of them myself! Thanks for the video!
Hi Taylor. Thanks for all of your videos. I really appreciate how detailed you get with your examples. They help me a lot. I was watching another You Tube channel, and the person added 13% to the costs in the profit calculator. I noticed you didn't do that in the example above. Is this something I should be doing when I use the profit calculator? It seems like other shops might not be doing this when I look at their pricing.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoy them! I am not sure why they added 13% but using this calculator accounts for all Etsy fees and I add in the production costs so it's not necessary for me to add in any additional costs.
@TaylorPOD I forgot to mention he added it in the Etsy ad fees section to cover marketing. Do you usually include Etsy ad costs when you're pricing in the profit calculator? I've been doing 13%, and it definitely makes it tougher to have competitive pricing.
I love this breakdown and video. Do you have one on candles? Wondering if it is a profitable product? Prices seem high with shipping compared to some sellers. Same time see some hot sellers. I know I know. Do the market research. Diving down that hole now.
You can save them to anywhere - location doesn’t matter. Just open up wherever you do save your files (a folder for example) and then drag and drop them in 🤗
Love this. I will definitely try to incorporate this in my shop as I have just started. Two questions. You mentioned white doesn’t print on the natural bag. I noticed the design you used had white in it. So will that not print on the bag the pages of the book? Next, where did you get the $4.69 from all the other prices made sense.
Taylor. You said once that you send the buyer a message to leave a review if they liked their product and that you wait so a while until they can leave a review. Can I trust the estimated date shown when you open "message" on Etsy from the "orders" section? or how do I know its the best time to send that message without doing the math :) Thanks. I hope I explained myself
good evening, my name is carlos and i live in brazil. here we can't sell through etsy yet because their payment system isn't available in brazil yet. do you sell american accounts or do you know someone who does?
Thanks for sharing but I don’t think you have the breakdown of the cost entirely accurate because there are monthly/annual fees for Canva, Printify Premium, etc. plus Etsy processing fees etc. so I’m a little confused about that.
The calculator I use factors in Etsy fees. And I share a profit breakdown both with and without Printify premium. Canva would be the only additional monthly fee if someone were to use a Canva pro account. But literally 2 tote bag sales a month would pay for it.
I really enjoy your videos. They’re very informative. I, personally, have been hesitant to start selling customized products. I guess I feel a bit intimidated by the process. I hope to overcome this soon. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thanks for sharing your entire process step by step. It’s really helpful! I have a question about expired Xmas listings that have gotten some favorites and a few sales. Do you renew them right away or do you wait until next Q4 to renew them? Thanks so much!
I usually just renew them about 12 weeks out from the holiday! However, I’ve heard others keep them up all year in their shops and get a few sales throughout the year 🤗
Taylor that’s a great video but I am shocked why no one even you, Taylor not mentioning Hello Custom fee or you can call it pricing Hello Custom : 29 USD per month subscription plan and 0.29 per order 😮 That is ALOT of money for a beginner😢 Taylor just explained that per tote bag you might be making about 5 to 7 bucks I can suggest one thing if you are a beginner please DONT USE Hello Custom and lose money do the manual customisation yourself and then when you are getting like hundreds and thousands of orders - either hire someone or opt for Hello Custom Hope it helps 😊
This is the kind of video I was looking for!! Even what seems like minor details are super useful
I'm so glad! Thank you for watching☺️

Thank you for watching!
Lisa I have the same problem-several versions of designs on tote bags, no sales.
Can you do a step by stamp for Hello Custom? I bought a subscription but I’m too nervous to use it lol

Dope. Can you do keyword research for custom designs? Is it pretty much the same?
Is it just pure white that doesn’t print on these bags? Does an off white like c5c5c5 print?
Yes, good question..I would like to know too...
Obsessed with tote bags. I wish there were color variations of heavy tote bags besides black and natural with Prinitfy. Thank you for your content.
Maybe in the future there will be more options! :) Thanks for watching!
How do you make the template
Thank you, really helped me!
Well explained topic details. Thanks a lot.
ill definitely try that, thanks!
wow, great video. thanks so much
Have you had any issues with HC not recognizing the name of the book club. It is still learning, so was wondering.
This was so helpful, thank you for sharing!!
Of course! Thank you for watching 😀
Nice vid thank you for sharing with us
How do these tote bags hold up in the washer? Do they wrinkle?
I have never washed one so not sure.
I really want to do personalized, but not sure on the process. Do you have a video on personalization?
Yes it’s in the description box for how to do it manually 😀
Thanks! I'm excited to add embroidered clothing to my products. Can you recommend any affordable suppliers?
Printful for embroidery!
thats amazing, ty for sharing
Gracias Taylor, es de mucha utilidad está información, otra aplicación k se puede usar que no sea precreate?
Gracias.
Do you put the design on both sides of the bag or only one?
I usually just do one!
How did you erase the original letters for the design?
I show that in the video using my iPad and the app Procreate
Hey Taylor! Do you mix your t-shirts with your totes all in the same Etsy shop?
I do! 😁
Where did you save your jpg file on your computer so you can just drag all the images at once?
You can save them to anywhere - location doesn’t matter. Just open up wherever you do save your files (a folder for example) and then drag and drop them in 🤗

The $4.69 is the price to ship 😀
And what about the white not being able to print on the natural bag? Do we just stay away from any designs that have white in it ?
@@QueenIndia91 I think she means white with the Hex code of #FFFFFF. There are variations of off white that should print okay.

What tools are you using to check the data

Have you tried the AOP totes?
I have not!

I recommend just checking your orders once a month to do this and you can toggle to orders marked as ‘Delivered’ 😀.
