Hayes farm prison did exist, my brothers did their level best to get transferred there. It was a good place as well as bad, people got farming skills. It’s a pity it wasn’t maintained.
Discipline changed when Australia became signatory to rights of child. Disciplining children who don’t respond to positive reinforcement (ADHD, ODD etc kids) became difficult. Big difference between discipline & abuse.
Sadly I know a few people who are institutionalised.
It scared my brothers sufficiently to do their best not to go back.

I attended a street party near Wellesley Park when i was in high school, i lost my friends i went with ( there was literally well over a thousand people there ) anyway next minute i was accosted by a much bigger an older dickhead named Bobby who was above grades at Newtown high, i was dumbfounded as to why this was happening ( looking back he had a pretty Aussie girlfriend and other girls who seemed somewhat impressed this older and bigger person was pushing around a person, i still remember Heaths face ( though i would see him around the city skateboarding ) anyway he stepped up and said ' come with us ' that was enough to get this loser away from me, nobody else was stepping up and ive always remembered it and was grateful for it. When i got older i always smashed bullies if the opportunity arose, i cant stand people who target those they see as weaker or vulnerable people, in the end they get their own justice and most of the time its really bad for them !
