Just because you own a piece of property around the lake does not give you the right to tell other property owners what they can do. If people would mind their own damn business this world would be a lot better place
We travel all over these United States and find that most (95%) of the RV Campgrounds are really taken care of beautifully. In every part of society there are people who do not care about anyone or anything other than themselves. The "Not in My Backyard" types are selfish, rude, and forgetting that this country is founded on the benefits for the many and to share with others. Religious teachings tell us to share and share a like. Our Nation set aside vast amounts of "Public" lands for all to share. I wonder what the "Not in My Backyard" types would do if they were not allowed to go on vacation to any place other than their small bit of property? Let talk about not paying taxes, well there is State sales tax, road tax, gas tax, plus spending vast amounts of dollars in the community for food, etc.
There's so many of these darn places that it's hard to find a campground, that allows tents! Tenters are looked down upon, as bums, and undesirables, let's face it not everyone can afford a park model, or a seasonal site, particularly young families, and seniors on fixed budgets, and with gas being so expensive, I doubt that I'll be able to afford a trip at all this year.
We have an suv tent...love it, love tent camping. We spent 2 nights at break's interstate park....in a primitive site. $51 per night!!!! For a spot of dirt, one water spigot for 30 sites, and 2 porta potties No, probably won't be going again this year
If you wanted that kind of "peace", you should have bought ALL the land around you. BTW, how can they not pay taxes when most of those haven't moved since parked?
I believe that when that lady said 'they won't be paying taxes' she meant each person camping won't be paying real estate taxes. In most states (I know for sure Iowa & IL), mobile homes and park models - are taxed as vehicles - just like RVs are. The landowner pays property taxes, but since the RV's & park models are not actual permanent structures (except in the few instances where they are placed on a permanent foundation), they are not taxed as "real property"/part of the real estate. So the landowner renting the lots will definitely have to pay property taxes, but they likely won't be near as high as if the land had been developed as parcels with homes built on them and each one taxed per real estate tax code.
2:24 "This more than doubles the population." Honey, welcome to the real world. Our population has exploded since you bought your "cabin" and less land to go around. Have you ever read what kind of hoops Rv Park owners have to jump through to create their parks and keep them? They are no longer your run down, broken up, garbage laden parks. Imagine if a developer bought that property and put 200 homes there with water access. Party central and no one to police each individual home. You should thank the heavens this guy developed it for nature loving rv people!
Hmm. A little bit of Proletariat "rich hating" speech. In reality, we know nothing about the financial states of those voicing their opposition. Both viewpoints are understandable. The developer is trying to make a buck and has done nothing illegal. He is correct, this IS America and making a profit is not illegal here. However, if you've enjoyed the solitude of a cottage next to that lake for years and have sunk money into your property there, you would understandably be concerned that your continued serenity is in jeopardy and the value of your investment might tank if the place becomes overrun. Both opinions are valid. But this situation has played out many times in the past, in other places, involving precisely the same issues. Nothing new here.
If you want to control how the adjacent property is used, then buy it! Don't want a campground there, buy the land! Besides, her arguments are totally 'what if'. Nothing has happened!
I can see both sides of the argument here, but, as the owner said "you could have bought the property yourselves"!! By the same token, let's see what type of "long term" campers are going to rock up to the campground, that will be interesting!!
Sorry they sound like Elitist Karen’s! First off Everyone should be able to enjoy the lakes… not just people with large bank accounts. Secondly, the whole not paying taxes towards infrastructure??? The business owner WILL be paying taxes just like any other business owner. Thirdly, those campers will be spending there money at local businesses that will in turn bring more money into the local economy and with that pay more in county, state and local taxes to help pay for infrastructure!
A lady think she's rich and privileged will tell you what I've lost about a dozen friends in the last two years and I think that she needs to be reminded that you can't take any of that with you live life be happy and leave other people alone
As a full time RV'er I can tell you, most RV parks have very strict rules to prevent trashy, noisy people. Many will turn you away if your RV looks trashy. These people have no idea what they are complaining about! Also, the money these people bring into the area creates jobs and income for locals. Just quit being Karens and get over it!
But you know I think that whatever kind of car that lady drives BMW whatever I really hate that kind of BMW so you need to get rid of that and all of them throughout the US right you understand what I'm saying here
And the natural habitat of the local wild animals which btw people will be complaining are “trespassing” into their yard or campground when they are the ones responsible for driving them out into any place they can forage and hunt and roam and seek shelter. Sad and uninspiring. Can they stop overdeveloping and they think about something else besides making money from cutting down trees and putting in roads?
Just because you own a piece of property around the lake does not give you the right to tell other property owners what they can do. If people would mind their own damn business this world would be a lot better place
the cabin owners should have bought the 500 acres if they were so concerned. Also wrong campground pays property tax and sales tax.
Or see if you can get a LANDS Trust of Conservation conservancy or Ducks Unlimited to preserve the estuary.

Yes they wouldn't allow 200 homes to be built, these are not homes, they're seasonal trailers, that being said i understand both point of views.

state parks and millions of natural forest land

they also pay sales tax on the rental fees

I guess she should’ve bought that property. It sucks but that’s how it works. He bought the land and is approved to do what he wants to do with it.
If it's not illegal, it is legal. Some people just can't stop being a Karen.
This land is your land, this land is my land- yall know the rest.
"it just doesn't belong here" well now that's a legitimate reason... SMH
Rich people. 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 I own this lake.

Nobody owns the lake
On our lake in northern Michigan the camp ground hasn't been a problem at all.
OMG. First world problems. The 1% don't want their noses assaulted by the campfires of middle class people who can afford to own RVs.
As soon as it's open I am going camping 🖕
If you want to control how the adjacent property is used, then buy it! Don't want a campground there, buy the land! Besides, her arguments are totally 'what if'. Nothing has happened!
If you are ever in northwest Ohio look for Camp wahoo come join the family
More people = more problems
Sounds like rich folks don't want regular folks nearby?
I can see both sides of the argument here, but, as the owner said "you could have bought the property yourselves"!! By the same token, let's see what type of "long term" campers are going to rock up to the campground, that will be interesting!!
What a crowd.
That's not camping
Don't blame the lady . Spoil that lovely site
That's more like a trailer park.
Sorry they sound like Elitist Karen’s!

You will hear them! Running their acts constantly!
Pure selfishness.
Looks like a camp ground to me .
I love nature, camping, keeping kids safe, busy, and protected! God WE NEED YOU SO DESPERATELY NOW!!!!
COME ON ENTITLED PEOPLE WHO OWNS THE WORLD AND YOU ARE NOT WANTED THERE.
Lol wow woman. Lol its a rv it moves its not a house that will be built to stay. Man I'm so petty I would've built a small complex

That camp ground will destroy that lake.
How so what facts are you using to back up your b*******?

@@BeBeBraveSpirit no, only money matters! Ask Karen about her bank account!
Too many people.
Protect your piece of heaven.
Buy him out!
Karen cares lol... mostly about her property value
Another Karen. They bring money to your town. They pay sales tax. To say they don't pay taxes is ludicrous. 😆
Go to Federal Wilderness as the authorities allow of course :(
That’s hilarious they had an opportunity to buy the property but didn’t want to now they want to stop it typical America
Babyboomer!. She wants her cabin to hold value, "How Dare You" should be her wrap up.
I'm 71 and if she's in my 'dating demographic" I'd be worried. She's more like my MOM'S generation.
I agree with her...
