    Great video. Is it possible to use timed relays in place of solid state relays?

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No need for a timed relay, I guess you meant just the regular relay that is cheaper than SSR. I think you could, but they operate on lower amperage which means they will wear out sooner, so it's just a precaution from my side of things.

    Hi If I'm not mistaking you said that the door can only be open from the remote control right?
    That's because the motor it's designed like that, but can I stop the gate from opening all the way?
    Like let's say I want to open the gate by my own liking and not all the way.
    Thanks for the detailed tutorial.

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Button C pauses the gates by your own liking, but yes, when pressed again (button C) it continues to open all the way and closes. If you'd like to make them close when you want, it would be good to repurpose some of the unused buttons on the remote control and rewrite the code to your liking

    Hi. A great tutorial and project. I have similar project and similar IR beam sensors but the difference is I am using Nema 23 stepper motor with driver DM542E. The procedure is like; if an obstacle occurred while opening or closing the gate. The gate should stop its working and resumes after the obstacle is gone. My question is do you connect COMM pin and taken signal from OUT or you haven't connected COMM and leave it and just working with OUT (Signal) using those transistors and resistors ?? Actually the range of detection reduces when I use it directly connecting arduino GND to COMM and a digital pin to OUT (without resistors or transistors).

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Yaseen, glad you liked it. I've done this project two years ago and honestly have no idea on what inputs and outputs (COMM and OUT) are you talking about, can you clarify that part for me please?

      @@Brezinjo you have taken signals from ir sensor to arduino nano can you kindly tell me which ports on ir sensor had you connected to arduino nano.

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@yaseensayyed8033 Yes, now I remember (forgot to mention that in the video). I can't remember which one I connected, but what I remember is you have to connect the IR sensor the way that it constantly gives the signal to Arduino when obstruction is not present and it stops sending the signal when obstruction occurs. That way you ensure that if the IR sensor stops working for some reason, motor won't start. So to simplify:
      1. Connect the IR sensor (receiver) with 12-24 V and turn it on
      2. Ensure that the obstruction is present, in other words don't turn on the transmitter.
      2. Test/find which of the pins (COM or OUT) has 0 V. The other one should have 5 V
      3. Connect Arduino pin D13 (or other digital input) to the 0 V pin.
      I hope this helps!

    at 11:01 is the power adapter for IR not 12V ?

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the adapter itself is rated for 12 Volts, but it gives out around 18 volts(because it used to be for recharging, and those adapters almost always give more voltage then rated, they don't have steady supply voltage), but that's not a problem for IR sensor, because it can handle the input range from 12-24 volts.

    Using a motor h drive controller. You can control motor better. Also counting motors rotation you can slow down motor before it Hite limit switch

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Controlling asynchronous motor can't be accomplished using H-bridge (as far as I know, maybe it could lower rotational speed by little if voltage is very low) because it's rotational speed is independent on the voltage. Frequency converter could be used but is expensive. Counting motor turns would be a little too complex for me, I didn't want to get involved in that, but certainly a great idea.

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Adapters usually provide a bit of an overvoltage relative to their description, that's why I used 7.5V because it actually provided me with 12V. Always check the voltage of your adapter before using it on devices, otherwise you can damage them permanently :(

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shivamraikar4538Transistor is used as a switch for powering up appliances which utilize far more power than Arduino can handle on its own. It's a broad topic you should get pretty familiar with if you want to get this project done.
      I needed a transistor that could power the IR sensor who uses 18V, so in order to that I choose a transistor that has a peak voltage of 45 V just for safety precaution (voltage spikes are common in electronic circuits). You can use S8050 as well, but it will burn out at the first voltage spike, and naturally that is something you want to avoid.

    Pohvale za projekt. Možda mali savjet za programski kod. Ako naiđe na prepreku kod zatvaranja tvoj motor stane i nakon 3 sekunde pokuša opet, ali ponovo zatvaranje. Mislim da bi iz sigurnosnih razloga trebao promjeniti smjer vrtnje i
    vrata bi se trebala odmah otvarati. Možda još da nam podijeliš iskustva kako se ponaša sve u praksi.

    • @Brezinjo
      @Brezinjo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Svakako pametan savjet, meni osobno to nebi odgovaralo iz razloga što mi pas često prilazi pored lese prilikom zatvaranja pa mi repom zna okinut signal IR senzora, onda bi opet trebao na daljinskom kliknut da se zatvaraju...Što se tiče rada u praksi, dobro radi ali ga zna zezat inducirano magnetsko polje tako da bi trebalo bolje zaštit/odvojit elektroniku od motora, strujne mreže i elektronike međusobno (Faradeyev kavez i slično, nažalost nemam osciloskop da mogu točno provjerit što najviše problema radi i otkud dolazi (vrlo vjv motor)) i svakako sam trebao stavit veći zupčanik da se brže otvara, veći zupčanik je dosta skup pa čekam bolja vremena da sve to do savršenstva izvedem...Srdačan pozdrav

    • @Mrpeacemaker2
      @Mrpeacemaker2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Brezinjo. Hm. . ako će pas aktivirati senzor kod zatvaranja ne trebao imati problema. Vrata se tada otvaraju do krajnjeg prekidača, stoje predefinirano vrijeme (mislim da si stavio 5 sekundi) i same se zatvaraju.
      Razlog čudnog ponašanja Arduina može biti pad napona kod uključivanja elektromotora koji naglo povuče struju iz mreže. Stabilizator LM1117 na pločici često ne može to popraviti. Nekad može pomoći kondenzator većeg kapaciteta na pinu za napajanje Arduina. Odvajanje elektronike od energetskog dijela i mrežnih kablova svakako je poželjno kao i metalno uzemljeno kućište. Lp.
