What's a great start to a Sunday morning? A Matt Fryer vlog! I've bounced back and forward between mallet and blade / minimal styles for a few years; currently gaming a Ping Cadence TR B65 blade and loving it. Cheers!
Just got the Mizuno M craft V (the second one you showed). I tried many many different putters over the weekend and this one stood out for me. I was surprised as I was thinking a bigger mallet, but I couldn’t deny the results. The feel, clean stroke and it just sits well to my eye.
Just got a Ping Sigma 2 Tyne Stealth at the weekend after a fitting. Love that I can also adjust the length by myself as I've always felt 35/34.5" just felt a bit long. Going through my stroke and picking the right putter with the pro was really useful. Was a Christmas gift from my wife so not allowed it until Dec 25th....
Switched to the evnroll er7 last month and have never putted better Matt to be honest. Always said i wouldn't go expensive but this thing in the stealth black looks and feels amazing
Has someone recently signed a shiny new deal with Mizuno by any chance? Great video. I suffer with the yips in my dominant arm (right), so I use a claw grip to counter that, but I also feel a weightier putter with a larger back suits me more as it helps minimise twist and effects of the yips.
Just discovered Matt, really like his tips. I have 17 putters, all types represented, mostly mallets or the futuristic types,my favorites , the more bizarre the better! I do putt well with all types even the all wood ones!
Just switch from spyder tour to Evnroll ER2. Damn! This Evnroll is out of this world. Rest it behind the ball. Do the line up with the 2 subtle dots. Swing it. Soooo very2 acurate and forgiving. I can not help but to smile each time looking at the result. Worth every penny.
I play on typically fast greens. I originally had a blade and felt like I couldn't get the pace right. I switched to what I call the pitchfork design like your Evenroll putter and was putting really well. It was an older putter with a metal faceplate that came off and made putting less effective. I know have a spaceship design putter that is just way too long and I cannot get it to pace or hit on my line as well. I found the pitchfork for me allowed me to have better distance control and it was less likely to go off the lines I was looking for. I just need to pony up and get a milled face pitchfork putter I like at my smaller stature.
Matt that was a very nice overview on putters. I assume the last putter, the Evnroll, was a face balance putter that is best for a straight back & straight through putting stroke. Was it a face balance or did it still have a slight toe hang? I play the Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom and it is a large mallet with a slight toe hang.
Recently picked up a second-hand Odyssey 2-ball broomstick putter. Just saw it and was curious for a few weeks, Finally tested it and it felt so good to me. Haven't had it on the course yet but looks like the rain will hold off tomorrow. Can't really complain, So much better than the fire we had last year
Hiya Matt. Love the vids, they're so informative. Can you please help. My local golf course has very slow greens even in summer. My game has improved but I find if difficult to convert good shots. What would you recommend as I’m used to faster greens? Pop method? Hit the putt harder? Longer putter? Thanks a mill. Peter
I've been using an odyssey white hot #7 putter for years (looks similar to the final putter shown) I actually thought of buying a new one start of last year but after watching a putting video and using a pre round putting drill I had my best putting year so my putter is now safe - apart from the grip
Great advice matt, I have similar style to your evenroll, I have odyssey white hot, mid slim grip. I get on well with it. I've been looking at a couple of other putters lately, I love odyssey putters, been looking at the 2 ball and 2 ball fang, do you have any thoughts on those two??
I have an Evnroll ER5 hatchback blacked out edition for sale if anyone’s looking for one, great putter but I’ve just got a LAB directed force putter and can’t miss with it
@@Mattfryergolf There are two holes I think 16 and especially the 17th where the greens are hidden down in hollows - brilliant . . . we used to travel over from West Lancs on a regular basis when I was in my 20's. 40 years later it's time to return!
I got a putter fitting from a well known golf franchise, but it felt rushed, and I've ended up with a putter that I don't feel comfortable with. I've got in touch with a pro at a golf club, to arrange a proper fitting, so fingers crossed.
So aside from learning and practicing how to putt, would it be safe to say owning more than 1 type of putter would be helpful as you play different types of courses?
I'm quite certain that everyone reading this will thing I am deranged, but the only putter I currently own is an ancient Arnold Palmer AP 30R, a heel shafted blade that is probably 50+ Years old....sighting aids? Nope. Oversized grips? Nah, beatup old Taylormades. When I pull it out of the bag on the first green, other golfers are amused/confused/appalled.... But, guess what?I tried every science fiction "spaceship on a stick -flying ashtray- two ball - multiple aiming aids design....and this one just works for me. By the end of the round, there's a noticeable lack of funny commentary. And when other guys try it, you can just see the gears in their heads spinning at 10,000 rpms... Great video, sir. Thanx!
So happy you are above 100k onwards and upwards. Really awesome practical content. Should be at 300k +. Love the new branding and editing. One feedback - music in back is a bit loud - distracts from your training.
I think I have been lucky with the second putter that came in my set - my putting was on fire last time I played before we went into Tier 4 now no golf for a while again 😬😬
Wow Matt, I've just realised that you have broken through the 100k Subs, well done Paul! PS have you see the Honu Putters? They are made out of Bamboo and are the oddest looking Putters that I have ever seen, they make the Putter that Peter Finch is using look like a Ping Anser. I would love to get hold of one just to see if they work.
@@Mattfryergolf how do we know what length we should use? It's the last club I need to replace in my bag (it's old and 2nd hand). Not sure what length to get. I'm keen on a mallet style.
If I were to try that Evnroll hatchback style I’d want center shafted but since I have a Cameron Futura 5S I’m good. Wife would kill me if I brought in any more clubs
It might be my age showing but I have always preferred the blade style putters, despite the fact I probably need maximum forgiveness. I'll live by the blade and die by the blade.
Putters...80% marketing... As a lefty each brand only offers 20% of their range because its all you need... Eye appeal, toe hang/face balance, length and grip...the rest is fluff...
The larger mallet futuristic style is for me. Works best for my left hand low, strait back and through stroke.

There’s like 15 evnroll putters in different shapes
