As terrified as I am of most spiders, I can't help but be in awe of their incredible skills.
Same, I recognize their important to the environment and ecosystem and I no longer destroy their webs out of fear, I still don't care to have most of them near me
Well said, one thing that i really think is very off about us in schools today aswel as people their knowledge is how incredibly intelligent every single being is. Even cells and atoms have some sort of code/task/intelligence that we simply can't really understand yet it is there. I haven't watched this video yet but there are videos on youtube of spiders who take air around their body under water, they make the airbubble get stuck to some sort of plant or something else, and they keep going back to the surface and back underwater to the bubble to make the bubble bigger, then they take their prey they caught into that bubble to eat it in peace away from their natural predators. Everything alive is fascinating, even plants. Just because they are and work extremely different from us does not mean that they don't have intelligence.

If you haven't seen it there's an awesome collection of vr micro monster videos. I saw them when I first got the quest2 and it was incredible. It puts you into the perspective of an ant viewing all of these creatures.

Unless starved, dying house spider will take down anything
There’s instances of multiple species of spiders settling in one area (like on farm equipment) or even on the same web. So long as there’s a stream of food, some spider species will coexist as it’s more beneficial (I.e if a predator comes along it increases their chances of survival if another spider nearby is eaten over them)
Except for when they are eating their own
Spiders are very sociable. You’re always welcome in their home anytime.

This guy's been amazing as long as I can remember him. I've been around a while but this guy's 96 lol. That's awesome to still be active and able to work doing something you love at 96. So glad for a guy like that
His older brother was also pretty talented and kept goin working into his 80's.
i'm gonna point out this is a fairly old series, but you're not wrong that it's amazing. to think how agile his mind is still, when you see some in their 60s already waning.
dare i say, his lose will be felt greater than the queens when he finally goes.

Some of nature's most graceful and delicate beings, and just like similarly graceful Snakes, still feared by many.
Maybe the fact that so many people fear them is what makes them so interesting to me. I used to be a little creeped out by spiders, but a lot has changed. Now I own tarantulas. I want to have a snake or two one day too. It really blows my mind how so many people are afraid of such harmless animals, yet they’ll turn their back to a wild bear to take a selfie

I’ve always found David Attenborough’s commentaries the most interesting ones probably because I’ve watched this guy since I was little.

Right, we are in a way.
Humans calling things monsters all stems from the greatest emotion of all: Fear. It isn't exactly rational most times, but it keeps us safe. :)

Maybe if they were 10 times their normal size, I’d consider them monsters.
Spiders are so beautiful. I had an orb weaver outside my patio door all summer. (Likely more than one spider, but a few vying for the spot closest to the porch light for luring prey to their webs.) I couldn't tell which species she was, we have a few here, but I love watching them build at dusk, then after dark she waits and pulls her captives to the center of her web to drink their guts. She keeps bugs from getting in the house, so we don't mess with her webs.
@Vince Aww, nooo! Spiders are our friends! They eat things that literally "bug" us. I'm 100% cool with that.
@Vince Yeah, I agree with arachnophobes when it comes to not wanting to snuggle the spiders. I don't try to handle them, but I love to watch them. There's usually a GLASS BARRIER between me and the one on my patio. I watch her through the glass door. *Do barriers help with your phobia?*
I'm not sure what it's called, but I had a similar phobia to wasps years ago after one got in my root beer bottle and stung the crap outta my mouth. some years later, I caused a car accident because a wasp was buzzing around my face in my car (no one got hurt, just my pride), so I used desensitization therapy, purposely exposing myself to waspy situations without getting stung... I'm still kinda nervous around them, but not enough to cause a car accident.
In other words, *TLDR:* The more experiences you have with spiders (without getting bitten), the less you'll fear them. Also, I applaud you just for watching this video!
I always say hello to the garden spiders I see every morning and night. The orb weaver's webs I always try to avoid walking through. She put a lot of work into building it, so I am not so crass as to damage a morning's work if I can avoid it.

A huntsman is a little different from a house spider, but I honestly don’t mind a spider or two in the house. Whether they do or not, I like to think that they help with fruit flies and other pests

@@Kat-mu8wq I pulled up the laminate flooring and foam underlayment in my basement last winter, discovered a hole in the cement that was occupied by a spider. How. HOW. How did it get under there? The hole was filled with dirt a couple inches from the top, so the spider didn't get in from below. And it sat there, for several months. When spring came I tried to give it a boxelder beetle (not fair to the beetle but they infest my trees) but the spider rejected it after a few attack attempts. Then one day, it was gone.
That social spider blew my brain!

Strangely, I keep finding spiderwebs in my home although it's the dead of winter here in Scranton, PA. I don't know where they come from or what they're eating because I haven't seen any other insect in many months. They are truly mysterious.
They are in your house to avoid the cold and the reason you find no other insects is bc the spiders are eating them all, just think of it as their way of paying rent.
I love how the male redback is just waiting in the back like "take your time, honey."
I wonder what triggers the social/ family spiders to pick up and move after about 5 years in one web and location. Is it one spider that starts the move and all others follow or do they collectively get the urge all at once to make the move? Interesting for sure.
It's usually lack of recourses or human activity
Probably hunt the area dry of pray would be my guess, the generations of insects they hunt learn to stay away from them

I'm not quite arachnophobic, but pretty close to it I'd say. I once watched an orbweaver while on my smoke break. It was storming pretty hard and was wrecking the web, but this spider did a weird thing. It grabbed on to a dead leaf and held it. Whenever the wind ripped it out of the spiders grip, it would just grab it again and carry it back to what was left of the web. After two or three times doing that, the spider wrapped the stem of the leaf so it wouldn't blow away. Never seen anything like it before. No spider babies on it, no apparent reason for the spider wanting the lead, but it sure did keep it.
I have huntsman spiders run through my home all the time, sometimes they get a bit to big and scare the kids, catching them is fun. super cool creatures.

ehhh-- they're often similar to, but a lil dumber than- a cat approximately, jumping spiders are the only ones with any really notable intellect- shown in how they can be trained, and show curiosity.
I liked the music in the first half of the video.
Those last ones are completely facilitating. I don’t necessarily love spiders as a whole but I do like them. I like them so much that I own a few species of tarantula. I’ve known about spiders that can live in colonies like the tarantula Monocentropus balfouri; however, I didn’t know of any that would actually “work together” to take down bigger prey. That’s really cool. The M balfouri tarantulas will simply not eat each other and don’t mind each other’s company, but they don’t really share kills. Like I said, that’s fascinating

Me and my family once had an orb weaver spider hanging out right outside the kitchen window. She was such a gorgeous spider and we loved having her around. Idk what happened to her.

I used to have terrible Arachnophopia...but then I got a little pink toe male tarantula...he passed away after 2 years and I've never felt sad for a spider dying before him...now I love spiders...

Just so you know a friend of mine has 120+ spiders a wife and 2 kids so ur statement is wrong.

As well as 2 scorpions, 2 giant African snails, a few mantis, some geckos, 8 snakes (redtail boas, ball pythons and hognose) and 5 cats

Curt is just hatin lol. I got my first tarantula in February and now I have seven total. I’m taking a break to focus on my seven, but I swear there isn’t a more addictive hobby. The tarantula hobby is way more common than it’s ever been, and I think they’ll continue to get more popular over time

I find it funny we always say how much more intelligent we are than all creatures but if you think about it. They are geniuses in the world that they live in. They adapt and flourish just as we do. So I look at it as we’re equally intelligent in our own worlds 🤷🏾♂️

Ngl, I would always squish spiders when I was younger. After watching many videos about them for the past years I’ve caught them and put them outside etc. not too afraid of them anymore
