Okey, we need to talk about transferable skills from being a housewife/homemaker. If you do the cooking, the cleaning, budgeting, scheduling children’s activities and all that, you are basically in management of most small restaurants. If you have a crappy spouse you have customer service experience, which is also useful in a lot of jobs. Also working from home and getting everything done shows great time management skills. I don’t think going from a housewife to an employee is a hard thing to do, and it surprises me so many of these stories make it seem like an impossible feat. Yes, job market is hard in so many places, but if you’re willing to work hard and maybe take some classes on the side, you can easily advance in a career. And I don’t think there is anything like a bad job, all jobs are respectable. Working at fast food might not seem fancy, but those people work hard to and I for one appreciate my junk food now and then! If a job wasn’t important it wouldn’t exist, if people didn’t clean or empty trash at a hospital people would still die even if they had a great doctor. Some kids probably had to eat fast food because it was cheap and their parents had to work a lot, and they might grow up to save the world.
