I think they occasionally do transcons on the 787. I believe it's becuase of the higher demand from those kinds of routes. EWR- SFO and LAX are the routes that I know of.

@@seanrana1003 the B787 has no transfer unit between hydraulic systems. That is the demand pumps that are used for high loads on the system like flaps for example. They run usually after the engines start up, during the take off roll, and landing approach

This is a very odd taxi pattern. Why couldn't it have stayed on Taxiway Alpha or Taxiway Bravo? What was the point of crossing 1R and 1L which one of them it was going to depart from anyway? It could have taken off from Runway 28R or 28L? It is usually a standard procedure for flights to Los Angeles to depart on 1L, but maybe this airplane is too big that it needs the extra 1,000 feet.
