A disappointing fact is that ford didn’t put decent oil pump gears or timing chain gear on the 24 model mustangs. They know it’s a weak point but they chose to leave it with this known issue.
First a Coyote is an engine, and not a motor. Second, y'all find the most goofy things to complain about. Who cares if a Mustangs GEN4 Coyote is just an updated GEN3 Coyote? The GEN3 Coyote is an excellent engine. People have pushed mad HP out of a GEN3 block/heads. A GEN3 F150 5L gives you the same flow and performance as a F150's GEN4 5L. What do y'all want this engine to be? The main advantage a GEN4 F150 5L gives you is a MPG bump mainly due to the cylinder deactivation. Do you want your Mustang to have cylinder deactivation? I would love a 21+ F150 5L because they're a nice truck, but as far as engine performance my 18 5L gives the same performance mod for mod as a GEN4 5L. The GEN4 F150 5L is unique to it, but a GEN3 F150 5L is basically the same engine as a Mustangs 5L with a different firing order, different manifolds, and a little bit thinner oil pump gear, but same block/heads/rotating assembly/etc. A GEN3 and GEN4 Coyote use the same 12:1 CR regardless of Mustang or F150. The S650's 5L being an updated GEN3 5L is nothing to get upset about. I'd be more upset that the S650 structure is just a sightly revised version of the S550 structure which is more on GM's Zeta level of performance, and noticeably inferior to GM's Alpha level of performance. The S650 originals date back to the DEW98 structure which was released in the late 90's on one model from Jaguar and on the Lincoln LS. EDIT: BTW props to Ford for keeping the GEN4 Mustangs 5L intake manifold bolt pattern the same as the previous GEN's of Coyote. Wish they did the same with the F150's GEN4 5L heads. Makes it where you can mount any performance manifold up without needing costly adaptors that compromises on the manifold's performance.
I just got a '24 gt for 40k, new. This video actually makes me feel better about my purchase- thanks for making it. I didn't buy it new because I wanted 'gen 4'- I bought new because I wanted something that I knew hadn't been redlined at every stoplight, and that didn't have someones farts/BO all up on the seats. I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't have dreams of turning it into some 1khp unmanageable drag-monster, so none of this bothers me.
I have some questions. Im looking at s650s now. Is yours a premium performance pack or base interior non performance pack? And is it a manual trans?I cant find any gt's for under 45k. Maybe it just my location.
Great video thanks for sharing the insight. I think darkhorse owners maybe are a different age group than GT owners. Bring an owner of LX, GT, Cobra and now Darkhorse I buy the Darkhorse because it looks better than the GT. The price is not so different either. I paid $62k for my non premium Darkhorse and a GT spec similar shows me $64k. It’s a wash really with money. You get the DH because of status, looks better and 500hp out the box is enough for most people. Not really enough for me because 500 hp nowadays is so tame compared to 500 hp in a fox body mustang. Anyway great stuff but the DH is really for a different demographic than the typical teen that buys the GT IMO
I am blown away at all the people who went out and bought S650 Ecoboosts instead of an S550 5.0??? I see a lot of S650 Eco's on the road now. I'll start to get a little excited when I see one and then I'll see no badging at all n I just shake my head....
One of my coworkers just went and finacned an all red S650 Ecoboost and thinks he is the shit 🤣🤡 I’m like you could’ve saved 10k if you bought a s550 5.0…. He doesn’t know anything about cars but the name, and my other older coworker was tryna tell me “it don’t sound too bad for a 4 banger” lmfao get tf outta here!
Bought a 2023 Mustang GT 6 Speed as my daily driver. It has the basic trim level and is black on black with chrome badging. The car looks like a million bucks. Sometimes you can get by with the basic package and not need to spend crazy money.
I knew they were just slapping some new parts on to older stuff.. It's the same with the body too. The just slapped some new lights and couple different panels on the same chassis.. I knew it was a Gen 3 with a newer intake manifold and 2 throttle bodies.. I knew these were all locked for no real reason too... It just seemed funny that if you are Whipple or Roush you can tune them but other than that theri locked..
I personally love my 2024 GT Premium. It’s stock, runs great, and has plenty of power for the street. If you want it to run 9’s, prepare to break things and spend a bunch of money. If you want fun, comfort and power….get yourself one and don’t screw with it.
A TH-camr has evidence to support this. A 19 Mustang GT on E85 made 446.09 rwhp. Compared to a Dork Horse at 420 rwhp. 423 if you remove the intake carbon traps. Rwmoval of said traps triggers a code. Then the Mustang phone home and corresponding VIN is now on Ford "Tampered With" list.
hate to break it to you bud, but you need at least header e85 tune to line up with a stock s650 a Dh is like a FBO E85 gen 3 it’ll probably still beat it , got hella s650 pages to show you
The S650 is really the S550.650 and ther Darkhorse is just a trim level. So, Ford is really pulling the moves. BTW, Ford took a Mustang and put a Porsche GT3 RS bodykit on it and called it a GTD for 300k then got mad at TJ Hunt for ripping off their rip off move. Hah! Not convinced of that? Put a image of the GT3 RS next to the GTD and you tell me. Glad I bought a GT but still payed too much to load it up with features when I should have trusted my gut and got a Mach 1. But I have big screens and two intakes!
there is so much more to the GTD then a body kit. the GTD dosnt share one suspention componect with the S650 even the sub frams are compleatly custom. there is Barly anthing left of a Mustang GT except parts of the shell
Yes. They're overpriced! I have said this since beginning, I like the way the 24 GT's look sure but I knew the engine wasn't changing much over dual intakes. You can just buy a 2018 GT with 10spd and get everything you need if you only care about going fast/modifying a car. If you're buying a dark horse for tremec get your head checked, you can buy a 2015 and install aftermarket tremec cheaper and basically get the same car. If the Dark Horse came with a 5.2, some forged internals aspects, tremec, then yeah sure it would be worth it but as it stands stop wasting your money on the Dark Horse.
The 5.0 already has forged crank and forged rods, the dark horse variant added forged pistons as well last I checked. It’s also has the tremec as you pointed out. It also comes with the active exhaust, and performance pack, and magniride, If your getting a base darkhorse it’s a good deal, as you can easily rack up a higher tab on a premium gt with the extra goodies and still be left with the crap gt manual trans.
@@lucian7182 Correct me if I am wrong here but Dark horse has forged connecting rods as upgrade over coyote? Coyote has hypereutectic alloy pistons, I don't believe they're fully forged. That said my comment on forged was mainly geared towards working out kinks of flatplane crank 5.2. Stuck that with even better parts safely supporting bout 1500 to tire then I would have been interested. Up the horsepower to 626, 8,500rpm. Dark Horse on my local Ford dealer for $78,000. There's just not enough to glorify that price. The numbers don't add up atleast for me.
You are correct. the DH has GT500 rods, same piston heads as the GT. Which are the same as the S550s/Gen 3s. S550/Gen 3 rods are not fully forged. You are correct on that as well. I just spent a lot of time double checking and looking into it.
❤❤❤😂😢😢😮😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 bro do you know your stuff so you must study or you must be a teacher? I didn’t know all that but thanks for telling which I still like them Mustang dark horse and I like the GTD and I like all of the Mustang thanks for the info. Take care, bro. Have a good week.
Dark horse is not made for drag racing or straight line. It’s 10x faster than any gt in the turns and won’t run hot an after 10 minutes. Anyways mach1 is better.
Mach 1 is definitely the better buy right now. A lightly used one can be had for $48-$50k. A steal and can be tuned. The DH is too expensive and was basically a marketing gimmick.
After GT 500, Mach 1 is the best buy. Mach 1 has everything DH has, just body change. I will prefer Mach 1 over 18-23 gt because temec and magneride suspension worth it and you also getting oil and transmission cooler, gt 500 diffuser and bigger tires.
I guess Shelby will be better than the dark horse or the Eco boots Mustang that’s a good one. You could get a lot of horsepower out of that preach on teacher

This is true!
That's why they are replacing a lot of the motors that got the whipple package

That price is a basic basic GT. I guarantee you . I paid 62k for a GT premium manual recaro seat and PP
@Cali4rniadreaming yeah I figured. I was looking at a base performance pack that was used and it was still 45k.

So slightly diff heads. Slightly diff pistons. So it’s DIFFERENT. Bunch of babling for nothing. Coyotes work. No need to remake it from the ground up.

I got the dark horse because of the tremec transmission and the new interior. I don’t think I will ever touch engine.
The Tremec is legit!
Even i said it when it came out. You can get a gen 3 for 35k and under. Modify it with e85 and it will humiate the Dark Horse

Dark Horse is a handling/track car. Super charge it (gets around 830) and blow away any e85. Nice try.

The dark horse replaced the Mach 1.
😂 search up the gtd first and you’ll see all the money is underneath not in a kit
@@Glowyaltee What does that have to do with Ford ripping off the GT# RS aero then sueing TJ HUnt for making a bodykit 😂
All the S650 I see are eco boosts lol, I only seen one dark horse and a lot of scat packs 😂

I'm thinking about getting fully loaded gt or base DH. With the info that you provide about the DH. Could the same thing be said about the Mach 1.
Yes, the same thing could be said about the Mach 1. However, now, a lightly used Mach 1 is a good deal over a new/used Dark Horse.

I don't trust Ford anymore, bad form man. Losing customers.....rebuild the motor to make your screamer.
"DARK HORSE".... just a $80,000 Mustang GT with a few extra parts for marketing! Just sad.

I think also having a tremik transmission is a must.
