- Hello everyone this is my first ever reaction to Mushroom (original song) Enna Alouette × keiki ! Enna Alouette is a vtuber for the vtuber group Nijisanji EN under Anycolor. She seems to be an incredible vocalist and I'm super excited to check out her original song for the very first time. I'm a metalhead, super big fan of metallica, judas priest, nightwish, powerwolf, beast in black, etc. so this music is a super fun adventure to discover and explore! Excellent reaction as per usual! Keep up the good work! Although I think you being a metal head was less relevant here, but I get if it's to potentially get more views. Perhaps you could try saying Vtuber Music Fan? idk how well that'd work but it seems like a lot of your content has been centered on that recently. Just thought I'd give my two cents.
As far as subject matter metaphors, and I could be mistaken, but during the instrumental of the bridge before the bassy percussive drop, she goes by being surrounded by the avatar of her fans (the Aloupeeps) to being surrounded by mushrooms when the bassy drop hits before the vocal layering segment. My assumption after rewatching with this in mind is that perhaps this song is about the decent of content creation. But I also could be reading far too deep into it
The mushrooms in the video look like they have eyes and limbs and are sort of shaped similar to the aloupeeps. I italic the lyrics going forward so the text isn't as cramped
_"magical mushroom show me your world, feed me your love and succession"_ the love of the audience
_"milk and honey welling in your promise while you sway me disarray me with a kiss"_ basically how the idea of having an audience can seem fun and awesome on the surface but be misleading
_"while you twist and turn my world upside down"_ basically the idea of it uprooting the way her life once was
_"magic and madness are one in the same, either one of the twins can rekindle the flame"_ I thought of how a lot of good content creators often get inspiration from being mentally unwell. The "magic" is the content they produce.
_"magical mushroom don't be concerned though our affair is no secret"_ reassuring the audience that it's fine. Also it's no secret because the streams are public
_"rumors will bloom though stones stay unturned people they know but don't see it"_ effects of drama on the talent
_"mushroom x3 you make me feel a little funny inside"_ basically how being a public figure and her fanbase wears on her over time
_"twilight of dream"_ the hopeful wishes she had going in _"and insanity open my mind"_ the realization of what it was actually like
_"ever since a friend had thrown the bouquet I have known that we're meant for a mutual fate"_ Millie was shown in the visuals later and I think since they were irl friends ahead of time they likely influenced each other's content creation
_"take me away to a ceaseless honeymoon, lead me astray to your arms of delightful doom"_ continual symbolism for the audience and/or Millie
_"trading my ear with your symphony your scenery with the sight of my eyes"_ here's where it shows millie's silouette first. Also I sort of got vibes of like the little mermaid trading her voice away for naught but idk maybe I'm reading too much into it.
_"for everything of splendor and height as I fall and uprise/deprive"_ (lyrics not on screen after height) here she is shown hugging millie
Here is the visuals that got me down this train of thought in the first place and then the chorus repeats but I've already given my thoughts there
_"may the dubious become a witness when your wonder and my hunger coalesse oh through good and bad in sickness and health for the sake of our bond I'll surrender myself"_ this line is the one that really cements my theory of it being about content creation. The basis off marriage vows aligning with parasocial attitudes, the whole surrendering herself to it after slowly going mad.
Again could be reading too much into it and I haven't heard Enna speak on the song other than the outtakes of harmonies so take what I say with a grain of salt.
