tanx! would you consider... ActCAD CAD-software ... "BIM"? That Company offers a "BIM"-version, but I'm not sure about any of it, except...44-years of 2D-CAD residential stuff :-))) tanx for your opinion!! sub'd/liked ))) btw...ActCAD is GREAT & Affordable, for my architectural Planwork. For that, ONLY the 2D Permit Drawings are my true $$$-makers!! The rest is...ahemmm..."eyewash". BUT...maybe "BIM" is what I NOW need, for better Planwork?? Hmmmm???....
As per my understanding, the model created in Act CAD have intelligent features and the elements know what they are e.g. wall beam or slab. However, since this model cant be sent to other software like for clash detection and does not allow MEP and other departments to collaborate - its not a true BIM experience yet.
May be software is in a very early stage.

Definitely, the future is BIM because it already has changed how work is done in the field. Learning BIM shall be very beneficial to add to the portfolio.
