I’m not going to say you NEED to start shooting large format but with those scenes I beg you to start shooting large format. You have the patience and eye to work with it.
Brea makes beautiful photographs with whatever camera is on his drone, his video camera, not to mention the 6x7. I think this is totally about the eye and talent, rather than format. 6x17 would make for a great You Tube episode, though. :-)
@@patrickbateman6768 in terms of actual price, yes. But you’re not taking photos on large format for the heck of it so the great to bad photos ratio is more on your side. Which limits the cost when you look at it.
The nice thing with fall is that you don't have to wake up at 4am to catch sunrise :') and u get those amazing colour pallets, especially when snow starts covering some of the trees aswell! Btw would be awesome to see you shoot some skiing or snowboarding in the backcountry this winter with the pentax!
Just love that last image. I do agree there is a reason an area becomes popular and that hike to that lake is why. I'd like to do that hike with my Fuji GW690. The 6cm x 9cm negatives are just fantastic and make some great images when scanned. Keep up the great videos and images.
Gotta say, the pacing of your videos aswell as the imagery and closeup zooms on the pictures have been on point these last few videos. Keep up the great content!
Very nice video. I especially loved the detail shots. Normally I hate snow scenes with a bright blue sky but these pictures were different. I also loved the shot with the reflection of the mountains.
These are beautiful, Brae. You should think about making a video where you lay out some basic things you look for in composition. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
this is so beautiful, I can't wait till you hit your goals and surpass 100k... I've noticed those numbers go up since last March. I love waking up with my coffee to your videos :) thanks Brae!
Awesome video man! Surely subscribed after watching. Next time you do the hike I recommend following the trail until you get to Gem Lake. The views just keep getting better. And if you're up for a really long hike you can keep going even after Gem lake and you arrive at Upper wildcat lake. It's secluded and absolutely stunning! Cheers.
A wonderful video, the last shot of the lake with the large rock was a spirited photo with great depth and warmth, but I suspect the spirit captured in that photo is the same spirit that lives in you. Great work on the prints too Brae. Be well, stay safe. Cheers.
I watched this on my phone this morning when I first saw it posted and commented earlier. I just watched it again at home on a iMac Pro in full 4K. Whoa, the colors are amazing! Autumn is beautiful up there. You got the Portra film and video colors to match so well, too. Oh, man, I need a vacation someplace like that!
Stoked about the prints man! Definitely going to check them out. As others have stated in the comments, take me to Washington! Amazing video as always!
What a wonderful one day photo trip. Colors came out just right IMO. My first though was that Portra 8000 was not the best film choice, and 800 does still seem excessive, but after some further consideration, I suspect that the ability of Portra to better handle the extreme dynamic range presented does work well.
Yeah I was debating on Ektar, but had some midday shadows I wanted the range of portra for. 800 seems to have a slightly softer pallet which I thought would suit the environment nicely. Thanks for watching Randall!
Oh wow, amazing Video. The landscape is so awesome, I live very far away from the mountains so it is totally nice to see your videos and shots. Keep going and stay healthy 👌🏼
Great video! I'm glad I came across your channel, it's great to see photographers from the northwest. Do you think you'll ever do a sunrise snowshoe to Artist Point? That's been a bucket list shoot for me for a while, but never managed to get time to do.
Your videos are so inspiring mah dude, Im seriously considering going backpacking/ hiking Washington during this summer once I graduate University. Also question, what kind of tripod do you use, because your b roll shots are just flat out amazing.
Awesome video Brae!! I have any questions. 1. What are the equivalent lens in 35mm format about your pentax? (I have Nikon FE2 with 50mm) 2. In all of your photos are you use light meter app? 3. Please, Invite me to your country! Hopefully one day I can take pictures with you.
Hey Brae! Would you mind doing a list of the gear you used on this shoot? From what you used to record you while on the go to the mic you used, etc. I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance, man
Well your hike went better than mine today. Ended up crashing our car on the way there. Managed to get towed out and continue to the mountain. Then slipped on a tree root and landed on my camera - called it a day after that 😂 amazing video as away Brae! Out of interest how long did the hike take you?
Forest hill Film lab (Travis) could possibly give you some tips on large format shooting. He has experience with Graflex or other 4x5 large format cameras.
It’s rare for me to subscribe to channel the same day I found it. If you haven’t yet, check out Blue Lake and also Artist Point. Both in Washington state. I was there 3 or so years ago. Didn’t make any videos or anything but it was stunning
not to shabby dude :D.. I think why landscape photographers stay clear of the popular spots , are for the experience of solitude , being away from the masses and just for having some quiet time in nature to rest and relax and not be bothered and scrutinised every 5 minutes or have someone stand on their shoulder with their iPhone trying to take the same shot .. as well as trying to make something more unique elsewhere ... some good shots in the mix , especially the last one
That's it. I'm moving to Washington
Jason takes pnw??
We need a Brae-ny Days crossover episode
Can you two collab, you're both my fave film content.
Jason will need to clear the move with Baxter first.
THUMBS UP!
Appreciate it man!
You’ve done more marketing for Washington Tourism than the state has.
Hahaha 😅
Words cannot describe how excited I get every time I see a new new video on my TH-cam homepage
