First off, slugs are brave souls of the squishy invertebrate community, bravely exploring their world without q shell to slow them down. Secondly, I really like the process you have for the explosions and the painting steps. At the end, they do really look like explosions that would be great to scatter around and make things more dramatic. What’s funny is your process also highlights the problem I have with painting. Even when you are doing all the right steps, when you are in the middle of your work and it is not quite done yet, it will look ugly as sin snd you begin to question weather or not you are doing things correctly or how the hell it is going to look like you want by the end. Like, when you had the orange over the yellow, they looked exactly like Cheetos.
I admire your respect for the slug community my man 😉 and completely agree with you. I used to abandon projects that were looking shitty midway through until I realised that’s just part of the process, now I see everything through to the end, and some of it comes out looking good (some still not so much 😁), but they always look better than their worst-mid-point state!
Absolutely f***ing AMAZING result. Can't wait to give this a go. I've subbed and hit that notification from this one video and about to go deep diving through the catalogue 😁
Wasn’t sure if I’d added enough explosions or not 😁 ahh man I’ve been down a bit of a trench crusade rabbit hole recently actually, might have to make some kind of video on it soon, but thanks for watching as always!!
Thank you my man, glad you like it! Yeah definitely need an airbrush or something if you’re making cotton wool ones, I like a more rigid one like these as well though as you don’t need to worry about them getting squished or losing their shape etc!
Fun slug fact (what a way to start a sentence lol): In dutch they are called "naaktslakken" literally translated "Naked snails" so I imagine them being streakers at a sports game or something, shocking the other snails with their risque appearance :P As for the actual stuff you made: simply epic. looking back on your older flame effects I can see the difference in technique leading to a different look, and tbh I would love to see them side by side for a closer comparison? I always love these short tutorial vids, theyre a great motivator to try new stuff!
That is a fun slug fact, thank you for sharing 😄 thank you though my dude, yeah definitely I was thinking about those flamethrower effects I did when making these I’ll try to bring them both together in a video at some point so we can see the differences, appreciate you watching!!
Very approachable tutorial, might give it a whirl! I'm doing Napoleonic stuff these days, any thoughts on how to make this technique work for a smoke cloud coming out of a rifle or cannon barrel that can be placed as a marker?
Thank you my man, glad to hear it! I think for smoke clouds you’d might be better off using cotton wool as you can fluff it out more for a much better smoky texture, this technique is better for blasts and more specific shapes I reckon, have you played around with cotton wool for it before? I used it for an overheating gun barrel effect a little while ago and it worked pretty well (less is definitely more with it though!)
I can definitely see it working, might be a little bit heavy but still should work! I made some missile trails a while ago using cotton wool and superglue that are a lot lighter - I showed it in one of my earlier Swamperial Guard videos with the barrage buggy if you’re interested!
My Horus Heresy mechanicum army has an ability where at the start of the game it can bombard and destroy some terrain pieces turning them into dangerous terrain. So I think I might make some of these to use as makers for this rule.
Yeah that’d be a really cool use for them actually, I plan to use mine to add onto tanks/vehicles when they’re been knocked out but I may do the same as you also, thanks for watching!
0:29 do people here not commonly refer to this as tin foil? I know when you find it in the stores it says aluminum foil, but I call it tin foil, all the same. My favorite thing is that you blokes call paper towels "kitchen roll."
Interesting, I’ve only ever seen/heard Americans calling it aluminium foil but glad to hear of the tin foil solidarity, and I know hahaha it seems normal when we say it but when I see it written out it’s a bit weird
Dude! This video is a...blast! 👍👍 Snails are Gypsies and slugs are exhibitionists; letting everything hang out for the world to see...rubbing their sluggy bits all over the place...leaving their slug-juice, treasure-trails everywhere...
Thank you kindly Canuck 😁 I feel like you’ve just blown my mind with your snail and slug knowledge, and slug juice treasure trails is something I can really get behind, I’m gonna invite a few into the house…
That’s a lot of hot glue! Lol Wouldn’t it be easier to insert actual beads through the wire, of various sizes, and just finish up with the hot glue? Just wondering
I thought I ordered 100 sticks but had actually ordered 1,000, so safe to say I’m looking for ways to use it all up 😄 the beads could definitely work to be fair, might give that a shot myself!
I love this technique thank you for this video and I will be making some, : tip use a lighter to help singe the hot glue strings : ( and the homeless rates slugs deeply saddens me, this problem will come to a end if you elect me as chancellor of the garden I will make thing equal for all slugs, bugs, rats and bunnies ) I am dust bunny and I approve this message :)
Thank you as always dust bunny, hope you’re good my dude! Great tip with the lighter I’m gonna try that out next time, and completely agree, this slug housing crisis needs to end, I have faith in you as our leader to resolve this 😁
What an explosive result.
Just like me on the toilet after a bargain bucket
also, it's not expensive. And for that result, you got a lot of "bangs" for your bucks ;)
This is so good! Pieces I didn't even think I needed on my table until you made it! Now it's a must have!
Hell yeah, every tabletop can benefit from some happy little explosions 😁
@SwampRatMiniatures hell yeah! my goblin sappers appreciate this! Subscribed!
I never even would have thought to try this! Excellent work.
Thank you my dude, I recently ordered way too much hot glue by accident so I’ve been trying to think of different ways to use it up 😁
Absolutely wicked terrain tip! Thank you!
Hell yeah, glad to be of service!!
Excellent work as always ✨✨
Thank you kindly my dude, hope you’re good!

@SwampRatMiniatures loving them so far. That sculpted goblin on the wall 😍 ah-maze-ing
Nice video with plenty of bang, I can see these explosion markers being a hit in Trench Crusades and Battletech
Wasn’t sure if I’d added enough explosions or not 😁 ahh man I’ve been down a bit of a trench crusade rabbit hole recently actually, might have to make some kind of video on it soon, but thanks for watching as always!!
@@SwampRatMiniatures I think Imperial Guard would fit in great with trench Crusade especially Death Korp.
@ agreed my man, and with all the new plastic Krieg kits coming this year it might be the perfect time for a crossover!
Very nice and useful video. I certainly should try to make the explosions - I am sure my kid would love to add them to his toy wars 😂
Hell yeah give it a go my man they’re super easy, all toy wars can benefit from a few explosions 😁
Interesting technique, I have to try this one. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you my dude, good luck with it!
That's awesome man! I got some future plans for some 40k Orks, these explosions may come in handy! Had a blast as always mate!
Thank you Jeroen, appreciate it my man!! I think orks can always benefit from a few explosions 😁 hope you’re doing good though dude!
I may try a few of these. Very cheap and easy (especially since i already own all the materials needed, including florescent paints)
Give it a go my man they’re genuinely so easy, and super cheap as you say, which is always a nice bonus!
awesome
Thanks Matt, you’re always in here so quick! Hope you’re good dude
Love the 3d printing alternative that looks awesome 😊😊😊
Thank you as always Cerise, much appreciated and hope your year has got off to a good start! 😁
@ you are welcome 🤗
It’s been a bit crazy but that’s normal lol
That's the best explosion technique I've seen! I tried to do the cotton wool one, but it doesn't work with a brush
Thank you my man, glad you like it! Yeah definitely need an airbrush or something if you’re making cotton wool ones, I like a more rigid one like these as well though as you don’t need to worry about them getting squished or losing their shape etc!
Nice 👍. Will try this out
Hell yeah, hope it works out well for you my man, hope you’re good!!
Thank you for sharing this technique. Excellent!
Thank you for watching my friend, I hope it will serve you well!!
Very nice!
Thanks for watching my man!
Outstanding results on this cool project
Thank you my friend, quite a quick and easy little process for these 😁

Very interesting and very cool (yet simple) colour scheme! Kee goin'!
Thank you kindly my man, quick little one this time but something a bit more detailed for the next one 😁
Nice work
Thank you my man!
Awesome!
Thank you my man!
Nice one! A lighter or match quickly over the surface gets rid of strings with no effort
Great shout actually I’m gonna give that a go next time, thank you!
Love it. Will be making a few of these up.
Hell yeah, good luck with them man!
Nice explosions.
Thank you kindly my good man
really nice. If you want less trouble for paiting, don't use a wet palette with Contrast paints
Thank you my dude, will give it a go next time, definitely made them too thin!

very nice
Thank you master Johnny, glad you like!

“Yeah I lost the house to the missus in the divorce 😕”, hahaha thanks for watching dude!
@SwampRatMiniatures I don't want to stur up anything but that's not what shrek was saying! 😐
This was really cool!!
Thank you kindly my dude, glad you liked it!
awesome. pls make poisonous gas, ice crystal and other fantasy effects
Great ideas, gonna add these to my list for future!
5:20 the cheeto stage! 😅
Hahaha it’s inevitable with flame effects 😄 thanks for watching dude
Sometimes I leave a comment on videos like this. This has been one of those times.
I dunno why but this really tickled me 😄 thank you for your comment my good sir
I also occasionally comment.
This is such an occasion.
This video really blew up!
😂😂, thanks for watching!!
Those look amazing and easy to make. I will need to buy a glue gun now. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah they’re really easy to make, and pretty fun! Thanks for watching
Yes, yes, yes
Thanks for watching dude!
Hey can you please do a death kreig diorama please
Absolutely, with the incoming plastic Krieg kits I’ll definitely be making a few dioramas for them this year!
4:42 wait.... you mean you use soap?
I usually crack it out once a year or so when I’m feeling fancy 😏

Hahahah my favourite episode 😁 thanks for watching!
Any failures you paint green and use them as oozes. 😝
Actually a great shout to be fair, I’d been playing around with some very similar effects for ooze 😁
Stealing this ! But I think I'll leave a couple off white for smeke grenades !
Great idea actually, might give that a go myself!
This is dynamite
