Friday Night Funkin' is an open-source rhythm game first released as a demo in 2020 for a game jam. The game is developed by a small group called The Funkin' Crew Inc., with the four founding members being the Newgrounds users Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution and PaRappa the Rapper and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games. The game has been credited with driving users back to Newgrounds, a site whose popularity peaked in the early 2000s.
The game mainly revolves around the player character, Boyfriend, who must defeat a variety of characters in singing and rapping contests in order to continue dating his love interest, Girlfriend. Gameplay revolves around hitting notes with timed inputs while avoiding running out of health for the duration of the song.
The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam on October 5, 2020. An expanded demo was released on November 1, 2020, with updates being released in the following months. A full version backed on Kickstarter titled Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game is in development.

reminder that as a base game composer saruky has access to more official pico samples than we do
i feel like even if saruky hops on the darnell tracks kawai will be the one making the vocals or at least providing vocals for saruky to use. and if they ever need more they have direct contact with kawai so lol

I think most of Pico's samples are recorded for each song, it sounds stupid XD but each sample has different waves and sounds
@@darick9637 That's actually true for the most part. So far, only the song featured in WeekEnd 1 reuse the same Pico samples, and even then they're newly recorded for WeekEnd 1. Even the Erect remixes and teased Pico remixes use new samples specifically recorded for those songs.
doesnt kawaisprite have a link with all his song stems which includes access to the chroms if i remember correctly

don't remember if this is in the basegame too but whenever Pico is one miss from dying, Nene raises her knife like she's gonna slash him if he misses, neat way to remind the player that death is a possibility in these songs plus an amazing attention to detail since she's involved in the deathscreens for Pico
