      Nice! I have to admit, if I was going to do it again I would bring my reflective umbrella again! It rained on us a lot and it was super hot on those dry days (110F / 43F). It was hot mostly towards the end of the trail since it was more inland. Buen Camino! Also BOOKINGS.COM app helped to book a place to stay.

    Bon Chemin !

      It was difficult for me, lots of ups and downs, slippery areas on stone when it was wet, which was often when we went during the wet month of June 2022. Elevation gain of the Del Norte Trail 12,300 meters (40,000ft). I don't know your health and fitness, but I am not here to rain on your wish to hike the Del Norte. If I was going to do this hike again and in my 70s, I would grab two more friends/family and have one hike with you while the other drives to the next destination/hotel. The person who drives can switch off to hike with you the next day...or something like that. That would be fun! Also there is a lot of road walking on this trail so that driver can pick you up and skip that dangerous road walk. If you can't find a friend/family, you can start hiking on your local trails or join a hiking group and get to know them better and they might want to hike the beautiful scenery of Spain! Hope that helps! :)

    Inspiring and beautiful. I will do this year and expect to arrive along the Norte in September. How was it for accommodation? Much on roads?

    • @davidz1205
      @davidz1205  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For accommodations, it was best to go through bookings and we reserved usually the day before. Our favorite hotel was Arbe (Deba), Hotel en Galizano and Hotel Avenida Real (Villaviciosa and nicest employees). The roads are endless. I would say 80% on roads (hard surface). For tips, avoid the long walks on highway A-8 because it is dangerous windy road w/o pedestrian walkway. Last tip is to hike all of the coast between Santiago Auzoa and Deba.

    • @peterc5167
      @peterc5167 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great thanks for the tips! Noting the hotels! Sorry about the hard roads, hope it does not detract too much. I’m starting in the summer from Belgium. Taking the GR655, via Paris and Tours, so hopefully quite fit by the time I reach Spain. Will take the Primitivo for the last section. Did you do that ? Trial packing today. Dress rehearsal over 5 days with a full pack next month. It’s exciting to plan such a trip. Your filming is impressive, must require some planning. Very well done.

      @davidz1205  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterc5167 I didn't do the Primitivo, we wanted to stay along the coast as much as we could because inland Spain was soooo hot. Thanks for the kind comments! Happy trails!

    It looks like it would be complicated to follow? I'm used to mountain trails without a lot of road and city until you get into town to resupply so they're pretty easy to follow in general Did you use gut hooks?
