Im glad to see your covering this! You dont even need level 40 racers. Please don't buy these guys. You can comfortably play the game by maxing your racers at 40. Anything above that just costs way too many coins.
It's INSANELY expensive. The crazy part, like you said, is that it's technically cheaper than what we had before with the old upgrade system. I remember calculating how many "plates of chocolate" was needed for me to get Elsa from level 40 to 50 and it was over $200. Lastly about the deluxe karts, one thing that's keeping me from buying them is that they're selling them for the slower, low tier racers. Ralph is the exception, but his deluxe kart doesn't ornaments or antennas(???). They should really allow cross-compatibility with kart parts within collections.
It isn't expensive... For the intended audience.

I find it hilarious how Gameloft treats Dreamlight Valley so much better, while here on Disney Speedstorm, is just becoming a massive laughing stock because of these prices just to max out a character. I really just want to question whoever is controlling this game and just give it to them. This is just embarrassing coming from Gameloft. Do better, Gameloft. Stop TRYING to piss off your players!

They should have had a few free to play weekends to draw in those who wanted to try it before spending any $. I was one of those and would have gladly purchased the founder's pack for access when I found that I really enjoyed it.

Those packs are for all the character specific races in the tour, probably for those don’t have them high enough for the races so they can get all the rewards not necessarily those who want ten levels.
I have ONLY seen the Vanellope premium cart, personally. And while I enjoy unlocking cosmetics, I'd never go out of my way to buy them bc I'm honestly focused on the track and my surroundings in this fast-paced game than appreciating minor cosmetic changes I've made

I still to this day only bought the Founders Pack, but nothing else. Guess later this year, I might have to start buying Golden Passes. I obviously don’t buy character packs since I was able to unlock them for free since Season 1.
Tbh, I dont even look at any ingame offers. There is no rly point of having a racer maxed out, unless u grind non stop ranking to grand champ on every racer, which is timewise not realistic. I have some maxed out, which are my favs, all rest are lvl 40 or 45, some mid season at 35, just so I can easy finish every event or season tour. From my side, I rather having just a ballanced account and hitting the req for all events than many maxed out ones. But yes, the offers are a joke, that why i dont even bother thinking of them😅
Charging players money for golden and vault passes instead of letting them spend tokens is a dick move and whoever suggested it needs to be fired

I was able to get Olaf for $2.00 because of the switch gold coins, I also recently unlocked Anna too. I’m hoping they do more selectable racer options in the future
Anchoring, thats the term you were looking for. If inkeepntelling you these waffles are 100 dollars, if i do a sale suddenly for 20 you're like whoa thats a great deal and it helps you forget you're still spending 20 dollars on waffles.
But yea this is insanely expensive. Thankfully I didnt fall for the 50 fever and still have couple hundred grand in upgrade coins. I hope those who need them are given a better route to obtain them though :
I am free to play, in the seasons I get 3 free characters and the 4th character of the season I get little by little. You don't have to have all the characters at once either. Having level 25, 30 and 40 is perfect to pass the seasons without problems and gain more characters. Having 5 stars is to compete with those who are able to spend more money just to be Top 1 in RMJ.
OK Gameloft, or should I say Greedloft. Who the heck wants to buy an ENTIRE $130 GAME to fully max out a character!? Progression is THE PROBLEM that you need to focus on, NOT Shop Offers!? We DON'T WANNA BUY UPGRADE COINS!? Who the heck is buying these!?

You'd have to be as rich as Scrooge McDuck to get these upgrades. As it is, I'm trying to save what tokens I have to unlock Kermit the Frog when he comes out, though my collection level is nearly to 38, which will reward me with 300 more.
Skyliner is a whale himself. Yet even he feels these upgrade prices are ridiculous.
Yet he probably keeps spending anyway.

Rn, I´m just praying that the next All-Star event is for Ariel (I´m delusional). Also, literally Gameloft need the money, because that shop offers are simply ridiculous and garbage level
One thing that I find absurd and annoy in this game, well aside of the horrendous monetization system of the prices is also the bad price value on the shard's dupes.
When I finally maxed Prince Eric to Level 50, everytime that I get a dupe it cost only 400 coins..., I mean why?, one common shard cost 7,900 coins in the shop, geeshh... at least has the decency to give at least the half of the price (3,950) like other f2p games tends to do when you get dupes on maxed items.
Not counting also the annoyness that the shop STILL offer shards of maxed characters making waste a space for another item...
All the more intencive to not max anyone asap.
These systems prey on impulse actions.
I bought the Villain bundle thing and it was pretty great value all things considered. I unlocked Hades, got enough shards for Gaston to two star him (new main btw), and then with the multiplayer coins, summoned for Oswald and got him, plus ten extra shards for him

It's ridiculous... but people like "Team France" who bought every single character to a level 50, there are going to be plenty of influencers that do it just to be on top and try to flex 🤦♂
Starup pack for season 7 are so not worth for veterans players p2p players f2p players and me i am definitely not buying starup pack now i prefer to buy special shards packs i hope for Kermit or joy from inside out as special shards packs
I legit 5 star Figment in a year since Early Access & also bought shards for each Season's Racers, making them 4 star OR having enough to 4 star them when having the Upgrade Coins.
Obviously not worth. Lol
I am really upset, me being new, I have to keep paying to avoid playing for months to just advance a little.
I would recommend against playing this to anyone new.

the game is sweet thank you Gameloft as always you know how to make games to make us happy, but we are asking you to improve on the cars and bring new cars because all the characters' cars are similar and we are asking you to bring us back the map to android and io

this game monetization is one of the worst i've seen as a free to play gamer who playes alot of free to play games like overwatch, fortntie, league of legends ect... i just think games in 2024 is the worst time to be a gamer in cause like our shopping bills and rent its way overpriced for what where getting covid really mucked up the world when it comes to the rich taking advantage of the consumers

When I can get a way more complex and better presented fighting game character with all their features in other games, I don't think 5$ for one of these is a good deal.

This whole game is becoming more and more expensive with every season and is the main reason why I couldn't bring myself to put any money in it. I refuse to support the game in its current state.
