Bush had the highest and lowest approval ratings of all the presidents. 91% after 9/11, and 30% after the. 2008 crash
If you’re talking about the gallop polls, Truman and Nixon had lower approval ratings at 22% and 24% respectively
that's such a crazy fact hey?, I'm Australian but i remember the fervour of patriotism (and sadly xenophobia) following 9/11. over time that fervour died down, the fog of war revealed a lot of shady shit
How do approval ratings matter after 8 years? It's not like they can vote him in a 3rd term anyways, right?
@@theelephantintheroom69Approval ratings are more of an interesting historical footnote to help see the general mood of people in the country at the time.
I'd argue that that's just based on since records began being kept. George Washington likely had a 92+% rating based on the fact that he was "Him" at the time. James Madison likely had similar numbers since, again, he was "Him."
You probably already know this, but Teddy Roosevelt was shot once, just as he was about to give a speech. After getting initial treatment, he went up, said "I have just been shot", and then gave the entire speech, before seeking further medical attention.
Another anecdote is some guy stole his boat when he was at a lake one time, so Teddy built his own boat, chased down the robber, and successfully retrieved his boat back
Dude’s a fuckin legend
Teddy Chadsevelt
Cool President that we should have had in America 2008 through 2016 .
@@richa.s9912I’d take Teddy over any president since JFK.
man is so positive
Woodrow Wilson was a vicious racist. His promotion of the film "birth of a nation" and his many outspoken racist statements lead in part to the rebirth of the kkk, who were up till then operating on the background since Grant's presidency. Also, Wilson suffered a stroke during the end of his 2nd term, and his wife, Edith Wilson, basically assumed power, acting independently with the mask of being the only person allowed to speak to or see her husband. This is why many refer to her as the USA's first female president
Based, but he is considered a “hero” to Jews so he is pretty bad.
I was waiting for him to bring up the part where Wilson re-segregrated Congress but nothing.
@@HighFlyingOwlOfMinerva he didn’t re-segregate congress…he re-segregated those employed by federal government. Congress is the legislative branch whose members have to be elected, what Wilson segregated were the employees under the executive branch.
Who cares
@@HighFlyingOwlOfMinervathat literally just didn’t happen lmao. Also Teddy and Taft were both racists as well.
"both the French and the Indian war" the French and Indian war is a single war
eh mistakes happen to be fair
Probably forgot a comma in the script or just overlooked it
I thought it was a joke
Probably overlooked it, more likely that these entire video ideas are just GPT generated and he rewrites the script to sound more natural and he reworded that section.
@@ThisIsntmyrealnameGoogle evidence? Backing? Or are you just completely jumping to conclusions?
I'd hear you out if you gave hard evidence
It’s a shame historians forgot the best president of the U.S., Sir Lord Quentin Trembley III esq., tragic what our country has become 😔😔😔
*Less* than worthless, my boy!

He won in a landslide! How could anyone disregard his incredible achievements?!
The 8 and a half president right ?

James Garfield is a big "what if?" President. He was a very wise and passionate person, great politician, and firm believer in meritocracy. He was shot by a guy who campaigned for his election and than demanded a position in cabinet as a reward. But Garfield could've survived. He died of infection, because his doctor tried to remove the bullet from his body without any precaution or sterilization. If only they left the bullet in Garfield's body, he would've survived, and imo he would've been considered today as one of the better presidents in American history
Sam 'O Nella has a great video on the absolute lunatic that killed Garfield. One of the most insane historical figures in American history.
Hilarious just hearing the US anthem drowned out by his voice in the background 😂
Gerald Ford: “do you like beer?”
Homer: “yes Mr.Ford”

"Do you like football?"
"Do I _ever!_ "

Polk is a very interesting president to me. He is the president that gained the most territory for America. He also promised when elected to rule for only 4 years, and during these 4 years he fulfilled the entirety of his election promises. After his first term, because he was popular, the democrats wanted to renominate him, but he refused, both because he promised to only serve the one term, and because at that point his health was ailing, and he died a few months after he stepped down.
bro you can't mention wilson without saying that he premiered "Birth of A Nation" in the whitehouse
So refreshing to see a video without a pointless intro that just goes directly into the content.
“Both the French and the Indian War” lmao
I appreciate just how fair these videos are. Putting everyone on the same stage and reviewing them factually not emotionally.
Also important to note, John Quincy Adams was John Adams eldest son
Yeah, it brought upon worries that the presidency would go back to a familial line of succession just like the monarchy
0:01 you mean the french and indian war? it wasnt 2 wars it was one war called the french and indian war
🤓🤓
LOL busted
I think it's just how the TTS bot emphasized the words weirdly.
@@carelessanonymous6570 "BOTH the French and the Indian war" Not the TTS but an error made by the creator, war singular as if if it was one war, and shows one image with "the French and the Indian war" above it
Man everyone here is wrong the “French and Indian War” was one of many theatres of the Seven Years War
I learned more in 25 minutes about presidents then I did in high school

Important to remember the emancipation proclemation abolished slavery *except* as a punishment for crime, and we really have people like Cassius Clay to thank for it.
Thanks for mentioning that. The 13th amendment does have an exception that slavery can be imposed on a convicted criminal. People tend to forget that.
your content is amazing
I can remember the assination attempt on Reagan. I was in Grade School at the time and I distinctly remember on of my classmates complaining that they took Loonie Tunes off the air to cover the assination.
The guy that shot Reagan (John Hinckley) now has a TH-cam channel and makes music...
@@devanshouse5027One of the things people don't understand about that attempted assumption
One of the things that people should know about that attempted assassination is that it wasn't political. Hinckley was already planning to assassinate the president. If Carter had won the election, then Hinckley would have shot him instead.
Holy shit that was the smoothest transition to a sponsor I've ever seen. I didn't even notice we were talking about Morgan and Morgan until it was already said. Great video as always!
Not even American, but I wish we would get another president like Teddy Roosevelt
Abraham Lincoln, my favorite

Great video as always, but I just wanna state something important; these videos are not gospel and are drastically oversimplified. 0:01 "George Washington fought in both the French and the Indian War." No he fought in a war called the French and Indian War. Who's the explainer here? Me or you?
Also the Revolutionary War.
Hey kids, takes notes! This might be on your test someday.
Nice to see a visual aide of how the gop got progressively worse and worse 😂😂
Your ability to just say things and not render judgement is impressive
As much as some people lambaste Jackson for the Indian Removal Act, it was a mutual agreement he made with the leaders of many Native American tribes. Both Jackson and Tribal leaders were convinced that their cultures could not coexist in such close proximity, so the Act gave Jackson the power to negotiate relocation agreements (including Federal funding for such relocations).
The infamous Trail of Tears was carried out under Martin Van Buren's dictates, placing General Winfield Scott (who Jackson had twice tried to court-martial for his racist attitudes towards Native Americans) in command. Scott violated most every aspect of the relocation agreement; refused to provide transportation, denied them supplies, forced them to take an arduous meandering route, and extorted them for river crossings and what supplies they were able to obtain.
Despite Jackson's fierce reputation (upon leaving Office, he announced his regret for not shooting his first VP John Calhoun and not hanging Kentucky Senator Henry Clay), by the time he heard about the atrocities committed during the Trail of Tears he was so far gone from age and old injuries that he couldn't do anything about it.
If only i put in nearly as much effort for my history project...

At the end of the video bru
Truman also was the first us president to acknowledge the state of Israel in 48
Kennedy also was planning to re institute the gold standard. So we wouldn’t have to rely on the US Treasury.
Truman’s best friend and partner in the haberdashery business, Eddie Jacobson, was instrumental in persuading Truman to make the US the first country to recognize the state of Israel.
Fun fact: Taft didn’t want to be the POTUS. He wanted to be a Supreme Court Justice.
Happy ending: he did
Adams didn't do a corrupt bargain at all.
Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams had basically the same policies
The corrupt bargain refers to the actual means by which Adams won the election. The election of 1824 was a 4-way race between JQ Adams, Andrew Jackson, then Secretary of the Treasury William Crawford, and then Speaker of the House Henry Clay. Andrew Jackson won a plurality of both the electoral college and the popular vote, by rather significant margins I might add, however no one won a majority of the electoral college which is what is required to win the Presidency. In the scenario that no one wins a majority of the electoral college, the House of Representatives chooses the President. However, they can only pick from the top 3 candidates so since Henry Clay came in last he was disqualified, leaving 3 options: Adams, Jackson, & Crawford. Now despite Jackson being the most popular candidate with the American people, Henry Clay infamously HATED Jackson, and remember his position at the time, he was the Speaker of the House. So since Clay was ineligible to win, it's widely believed that he cut a deal with Adams; that he would use his influence in the House to get Adams elected and in return Adams would appoint him as Secretary of State, which Adams did when he took office in March of 1825. This was noticed even back then, as the American people were beyond MAD with how the election played out. Jackson and his followers came back with a vengeance and absolutely destroyed Adams in the election of 1828.
As an Australian I couldn't ask for a better way to get information about US Presidents than from the Paint Explainer. You're the best at concise teaching. Thank yoyu!

It still baffles me to this day Washington fighting in both the French AND Indian war
The French and Indian War (1754-1763) was a theater of the Seven Years' War, which pitted the North American colonies of the British Empire against those of the French, each side being supported by various Native American tribes. He also fought in the American Revolution (1775-1783).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you use a Text-to-Speech reader (due to the ways certain words are being said in your videos). May I ask which one you use? 'Cause it sounds super good.
