I'm gonna say it, the special stages made it worth suffering through the rest of this game. (Saturn only, obviously, the Genesis special stages were somehow actually worse than the rest of the game.)

@Mariesun That’s basically what I meant. People often associate this sort of music in the Sonic series with Tee Lopes, when in fact Lopes was just drawing influence from existing music in the series (which makes sense - the whole point of Mania was to be a celebration of the best of classic Sonic).

When I first heard this when I was a kid I thought it was a remix upgrade to Sonic 2's Special stage.
It pretty much is, it's the same bassline from Sonic 2's Special stage.
I mean, this is my opinion, but it’s basically a better version of the Sonic 2 Special Stages, well, from the looks. I haven’t played the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast.
