Thanks man! This is my second Trans Am (my first got t-boned when a guy ran a red light). But my dad had a '78 WS6 with every option and he's wants another one too. Trans Am's are addicting!!
I feel you, bro. In 09, I bought a clean 99 WS6 that was owned by an old man who drove it on the weekends. It had 60,000 miles on it and was bonestock except for a bullet-style muffler that he'd had welded in place of the factory muffler. It looked like an SLP Loudmouth, but there were no markings whatsover. Not even a serial number. FIrst thing I did was SLP longtubes with an SLP y-pipe with a Magnaflow catback, along with an electric cutout when I wanted to be loud. I loved the Magnaflow exhaust...relatively quiet and tame at idle, but it roared when you stomped on it. I had an H/C/I packaged picked out and ready to go (TSP cam is all I remember) until I got hit by a drunk driver and my car was totaled. It sucks because I got a hell of a deal. $1200 for the whole shebang that included a baseline dyno pull and 5 more pulls for the tune. Our local dyno shop specializes in LS motors, so the owner would run a $1200 special just when the weather would start to turn. He told me that that was easily the busiest but most profitable time of the year for him, and I can see why.
lol, americans drive V8 cars because of the cheap gas... and we here in Europe struggle with the prices, and that's why we drive mostly cars with 4 cylinders
From a Cobra owner to a Tranam WS6 owner: That is one sick car you got! I know I'll end up in a transam later in life, always wanted one of these. Keep up the good work!
Funny how many people just comment to say their car sounds better or their cam is bigger, but they never seem to post video of shit, only one up everyone else. From what you said I would say your putting easy 450 to the wheels. Awesome job and it sounds amazing too, sure there are bigger lumpier cams but yours still sounds sweet. I have two nice f bodies too but not trying to talk bout my shit, just give you props on building a sweet ride.
24MartinONDS No, I sold it in 2014 to a guy in Florida. He stripped it down calling my work "Shady upgrades". He now has it stripped and building a full on race car. Well, if I would have had his money and not my bills, maybe I would have done a bigger build. But I loved my car the way it was.
Thanks man! I can't tell you how bad I wanted one before I bought my first one. I had a 2000 WS6 that looked just like this one but got t-boned. The day I got my insurance check, I went and bought this one and then started the build. They are very addictive and a ton of fun. I joined the Military so that I could get the money for one.
Had a 2000 3.8L firebird. Was still a nice car. I had a 3000GT, but should've bought that firebird down the street instead. Had second gens, but this actually grew on me after owning one. Now, I kinda want a WS-6 2000-2002
I love coming back to watch this over and over LOL ~ I have a stock flat hood 98 just like this in Sebring Silver - LS1 with auto / stock chrome rims -it has right now 107k miles -the only thing I have done is added a 1400 watt sound system. I get ppl all of the time coming to my door wanting to buy it. It's the best car I have ever owned. It still has original paint and never wrecked. I have put 2 sets of tires since 2014 but never had it aligned. I bought it from the first lady owner. It's drives on a rail and the tires wear even. Living here in Vegas we have no rust. The sun is a bitch but I ceramic coated it and it looks great for 24 yr old paint. Anyways your WS6 is a nice car. (Mine's a WS9) I love the sound of your cam making popcorn LOL
Thanks man!! I love this setup, just sucks dring in the city with it because it's hard on the clutch. But it drives pretty well even though everyone told me otherwise. I'm hoping to start my new motor build in the next couple months, so we'll see.
Very clean WS6 nicely put together well moded sounds very healthy. To bad you weren't in cali. Would love to show you mine and would like to see yours in person.
I still have the stock 806's on there, but I had to upgrade everything on them. I went with the PRC Gold double valve springs to hold the 649 lift. You'll love the MS4 if you go with it. My buddy has an MS3 in his SS and it's pretty sweet too. Don't listen to anyone telling you that the MS4 is too big for the street!! I've been driving mine every day (even in the winter) for over 30,000 miles. Drives just fine.
@@tjpruitt1374 I have a friend who ran the MS3 on his stock bottom end with N2o and he loved it. I was N/A on my motor, and loved it, also. The MS4 is a better cam and will make better power. If you are wanting to spray it, I would call Texas Speed and get their opinion. They may recommend a different cam. I know my old cam was an MTI 236/236 585/585 @112 LSA. It was a nitrous cam, but I never sprayed it. Just make sure you get the best valve springs for whichever cam you go with. When you're up in high RPMs and your valve springs aren't strong enough, you get floating valves and bad stuff happens. Go ahead, ask me how I know this, lol.
i love mustangs but man those TA's sound so wicked. i use to have a neighbor with that set up and its like hearing thunder when he would turn it on. sick car!
@2000TA Im highly considering that cam for my build on my car and your experience with the cam helped me. It has a huge lift though so I can see why people would say it gets terrible mileage lol
If you would have asked me about 2 months ago, my brother had a 383 LT1 that he sold for $1,800. It only had 200 miles on it, made three passes down the quarter, and was a low 10 second car. That would have been a great set up for your car.
I'm putting duals on it, just gotta come up with the money to do it. I'm going with mandrel bent stainless pipes, Magnaflow x-pipe, and Magnaflow Bullets out the back. A guy I was stationed with in Arizona had that same exhaust on his built Camaro SS......sounds sick!!
I had a friend with an 01 Trans Am and he had a similar set up, but it was dumped in front of the axle. He would never tell us what cam or other mods he had, but I saw he has a Fast LSX intake and fuel rail. I don't think they were stock heads either, but I'm not sure.
@DJSmoothh They are Simmons FR-90's. It's an Australian wheel company and they can only be ordered from the company. They stopped dealing with American wheel dealers back in 2006.
@Argedis Thanks for the comment!! I've thought about doing the black door emblems but i have a couple buddies that did it to theres and i don't want to do the same as them. I am going to do the CETA mod to the rear bumper pretty soon though. The wheels are 17X11 in the back and i'm with you, i think they make the car look a lot better!!!!
Haven't taken it down the track since this build yet, trying to locate a vibration in either the rearend, driveshaft, or transmission. It's hard to pin point on a tight military budget. Very soon though, i will have it at the track.
I think it looks hella sweet and sounds mean as hell too! Nice ass ride for sure...and that's coming from a Mustang guy too...LOL. Actually I have an appreciation for all different make and model cars. The fact that the owner did all the work himself sets him way apart, above and beyond, 99% of the people who post vids of their car! Cheers my friend, you have an awesome T/A!!
1998+ Trans ams are probably the most beautiful cars GM has put out. Yes I am even considering Camaros and corvettes, new and old, minus the 69 SS camaro and Sting Ray corvettes.
I always liked how the quad exhaust tips filled out the two sections in the back... I can't think of the name of it right now. These cars look strange when there is just one tip on each side in there and even worse on the models that just had the single tip with nothing on the other side at all. It looks like something is missing without quad tips IMO. Anyway, awesome T/A obviously, and cool video too man.
The quad tips are called "Dual Quad tips". The '98 Trans Ams were the only ones that came stock with the single tip out the drivers side. I don't remember why they did it. My sisters ex boyfriend had a black '98 with the single tip.
I love these cars, this one is especially nice. I ran one the other day with my 3rd gen swapped non turbo mr2 '91. It was very close, I had it on stock boost. I would run him again on 18psi and prob beat him, don't know what mods he had, exhaust at least wasent stock.
@2000TA I have yet to find a video clip on TH-cam that has a clear magnaflow cam clip. Seems like people use 1900 Nokia cameras. More people need clips like yours
Bro this thing is Cleeaaannn. Love the exhaust setup you have too. Could you tell me what size rear wheel spacers you have? There just about where i want my wheels at on my mustang. Thanks man.
@Ls1biscuitsex They are an Australian company called Simmons. There was a place in Chandler, AZ that sold them but now Simmons doesn't deal with U.S. dealers anymore. Now you can only get them from the company in Australia.

No clue, I'd have to add it all up. Most of the stuff I used on the build was stuff I bought on LS1 Tech. Just the motor, I have about $3,000 in parts and I did the whole build myself. But then you add the tune, the trans worls, the rearend, the cage, wheels,.........it all adds up fast. I'd say I have around $8,000 or so just in parts, plus another $4,000 for the wheels.
Love the car got an 01 ws6 I was wondering and ik this is 7 years ago but how much power where u putting the ground on this setup? And also what wheels u have, Those look sick!! Beautiful car man

9/11 NEVER FORGET BROTHER!!!
U.S.A. all day
Cheap gas ? It's like 4$ a gal
It is rare to see a WS6 with some wheels which actually have a stance, and fill the fenders. Nice job.
i think the car is lowered
Mine is lowered and looks amazing
Steve Clark yeah looks like he lowered it about an inch or two in the back

Wish tha still made the look car 😞 imo the most beautiful car of its time
This makes me miss my Trans Am. I will always have a spot in my heart for Trans Am's and Camaro's next to Mustang's. Beautiful car buddy.

amazing bird you got there man :)
man what lowering springs you use? that rear gap is perfect
Love the car got an 01 ws6 I was wondering and ik this is 7 years ago but how much power where u putting the ground on this setup? And also what wheels u have, Those look sick!! Beautiful car man
very nice t/a man. i plan on buying one soon...once i get my firebird sold :p
I wish I could have an ls1 soo bad. I couldnt afford one though so now i drive a civic and a turbo regal
@WS6LS
It's a good clutch. Mine is wore out and so is my flywheel so i need to replace it pretty soon.
