Glad you dodged the hurricane are safe and suffered no damage….great decision to head North of that one… your documentaries are the best entertainment on you tube… ❤
If you were on a Catamaran sailing down wind in rough seas. Dragging that fishing buoy would helped to keep you from surfing down the following wave troughs !
You guys stay safe and have fun. My kitties re looking more like cats, so cute. Say away from those hurricanes .Just g cleaned up from Milton but may have another one forming next week south flag
Milton came through here. We are about 200 yards from the Gulf of Mexico just north of Clearwater Beach. We lucked out being 18 feet above sea level, the homes between us and the Gulf did not do as well. We had some major tree limbs come down, but no damage. Our son's raised ranch house's garage had 4 feet of water in it. Stay safe as the Hurricane season is not over yet. This is our first major hurricane since we moved here 26 years ago, although we did have some close calls.
@@donaldhoudek2889 so worrying isn’t it! And super sad for the people affected. We’re actually in Mexico (not on our boat) atm in real time and Milton came right past us and just missed us, we had barely anything here except a storm and some rain. We’re all safe though as we’re on land and our boat is laid up in Trinidad.
Yo aprovecharía la temporada de huracanes para conocer sitios nuevos más al sur como Venezuela o Colombia pero vaya, vosotros sois los jefes de vuestro destino.
Yesss that was the plan if we kept sailing however escapade is in much need of some TLC and we were in need of some time on land so unfortunately we won’t see those places this time, but hopefully we will eventually ☺️
Hurricanes in Florida, The Bahamas and Caribbean are not survivable on a boat in any harbor except a hurricane hole tucked into mangroves. Do not stay on your boat. Once the winds get over 35 knots you can't change mooring lines. Do not set schedules without 1 or 2 weeks leeway.
Glad you are safe. However, the choice was north or south. For you it was based on models. Other sailors based their decision on models as well and lost their boats. Problem is that people/companies try to earn money with the best weather app. Then again an "however"......the forces of nature are completely unpredictable. And thus...models are useless. Off topic, loads of other predictions are based on models and it simply doesn't work. Building a model on any form of weather is based on (my guess) 10% parameters the builders and publishers know, discarding the 90% which are in the hands of nature. Risky business.
Yess it was so hard to decide. We based our decision on the forecast but we were really nervous about that it because you’re right it can be wrong or it can take a last second turn right for us. It felt quite strange to be going back north where they typically go but this time we were lucky 🍀
@@dennispatrick4999 yeah so horrible to see what happened in the grenadines and Grenada. If we didn’t get delayed in st Martin waiting for packages we would’ve been right in that area and would’ve had to gap it south to Trinidad like the rest of the cruisers
@LeadingtheEscapade I am here in New Orleans; so completely understand the Hurricane 🌀 stress. My friend in Venice, Florida lost his home completely. Gone. Another friend in Clearwater, Florida got lucky. No real damage. Season is not over. Not sure where you are in present time. Are you guys on Sea People?
Oh no that’s so horrible. I feel so bad for them, Florida has been battered the poor things. Glad to hear you’re safe but yes it’s stressful isn’t it! We’re on SeaPeople but not sharing our location currently as we’re not on the boat. We’re catching up to real time in episodes and will be band on the boat next week 😄 if you search Janaye MacDonald or Leading the Escapade you should be able to find us 😆

The boat cats are doing so good!! They are chill as can be!
@@judywebb8358 they’re doing great! We still have to watch out for them a lot but I guess that’s just living on the water 😅🙏

Some more T&A, hey?
Great video! We ran from Hurricane Beryl after a long sail from Brazil, turning our bow to Curacao, finding the best hurricane hole on the planet.
@@rainfinger oh far out that wouldn’t have been ideal after such a long sail 😳 so glad you made a good decision and were safe though ❤️

Ah thankyou! Going to try this! They’re quite bad but they’re only like a year old so the Caribbean sun is definitely brutal!
