Thank you for the refresher on hurricanes, especially the cleaning tips. I am delighted to learn about Dawn Power wash, I haven't tried that product, although I use regular Dawn dish soap. I am worried about soot, I do wonder if melting is a better route to go. I sure wish Homeworx candles fit in a crock of some kind, I really prefer crocks over lamps. I bought a candle lamp only because of Homeworx candles, some have performance issues.
Melting would be the better route if you are looking to avoid any sooting whatsoever. I know a lot of people are going that route. I'm not sure I could see myself only doing that but I would be willing to melt more and just maybe burn one candle at a time. I do have a fair amount of luminara type candles that I could get ambiance from I suppose. I too wish HomeWorx fit into crocks but I just lamp them.
I use Dawn Power Wash too on my hurricanes! Works amazing! Try spraying it on the dry hurricane and just let it sit. Then wash with your sponge and rinse.
I love my hurricane and use Dawn Power Wash too! Let it soak and it just comes right off, brand new. Wait until you see the newest “hurricane” I bought when I’m in NYC! I’ll have to make a video on it soon. It’s definitely bougie 😂🎉
What is the rule of thumb for the tallness of the hurricane? Do you get a stronger throw the taller the vessel? I have an old round glass container that I received a floral arrangement in that I have been putting my bbw candles in. It's not super tall like the ones you have. There are no large dogs or kids in my home. P.S I am pug sitting and the snore symphony between Alf and my Boo Pug is...wow 🐷😆
First and most importantly, I am so glad you are pugging it right now! Isn't life just better with a pug in it??? All the snorts! So not really a rule of thumb per say but a few inches above the candle is probably plenty. I do think the airflow around the candle is important I should have probably mentioned at least leaving an half inch or so around the candle to prevent it from getting too hot if that makes sense. I love that you are reusing something by the way! Smart!
So I’m sorry if I missed this but do the Homeworx candles fit in the London hurricane? I have one large hurricane that I actually found at an antique store. I think they make a big difference.
I love my Hurricanes. I have several.. I burn almost all my candles in a hurricane. I have the London like yours from crate & barrel. I also have 3 other very large hurricanes 2 that have a very heavy marble base removable chimney . They were over I believe $120 plus a piece from crate & barrel. . I also have Harry's large hurricane with the resin bottom removable chimney that they had a few to choose from in white or natural and I'm not sure about the other color it's been quite a while ago.. I think almost everybody has that particular hurricane by Harry for Their HW candles. I also have a couple from Target and from Belk. I have a bunch. Lol. I love them all but use my very large hurricanes from crate & barrel and my Homeworx hurricane the most. I think I like those more because of the removable chimney's . I'm just as bad with my candle lamps from Amazon and my candle Crocks from Boscov's lol. Having 3,000 plus candles I tried to burn or warm a few everyday because theirs so many in my candle room.. I have already given lots of candles away and it barely put a dent in what I have in my candle room and having so many candles can get a little overwhelming but I have a bad candle addiction especially when new candles are released and can't help myself 🤦 I mostly have BBW and Homeworx candles with some Goose Creek and Candleberry. I'm thinking about once I get better because I just recently had surgery from a imploded gallbladder.. I went in for my normal gallbladder surgery thinking I was having the surgery done which usually took about 45 minutes be put in recovery and then come home the same day and when I woke up I was in the hospital room because my gallbladder had bursted. They had me on some very strong antibiotics , drain tube in my side. My Dr even told me if I had waited any longer I wouldn't of been here today so I Thank God the surgery was done when it was only wish I could have caught it a little sooner before it bursted. Anyway sorry not trying to tell you my life history lol just saying I have to let myself heal before I go start moving a bunch of candles around to decide whether or not I want to get rid of anymore . Not sure yet but we will see. I only started with candles like this about 3 or 3 and 1/2 years ago when unfortunately I had to leave my nursing job due to health issues. That's when I became addicted to candles and order every single week.. I may have missed a week or two this year because I told myself when the New Year came in that I was going to slow down or try to go on a No buy. Well I haven't slowed down as much as I wanted to or need to and I certainly haven't gone on a no buy. I don't like to burn more than two candles at a time myself. And normally that's all I burn at a time.. sometimes I will have a candle burning and then have one under one of my candle lamps are in one of my candle Crocks. Now SAS is right around the corner and I'm like oh my but I am only going to buy maybe a few backups that I probably don't even need but I'm not going to go all out this year at SAS.. I have so much BBW including body care, wallflowers plugs and refills, and so many hand soaps because I am OCD and I wash my hands like there's no tomorrow my hands has to be clean and I love BBW's foaming hand soap. I only use Dawn power Plus and that's how I clean my hurricanes. Then I use only Viva paper towels because I love the fact that they're thick and I dry them very well with the Viva paper towels. Like I said I'm OCD and I have to make sure everything is spotless as well lol as always enjoy watching your videos Melanie💗. I apologize for the long comment I hope it makes sense.. like I said I'm still trying to recover from that awful bursted gallbladder surgery and the pain in my right side gets excruciating. Plus Instead of texting with my fingers I'm talking in my voice recorder and we all know how talking in the voice recorder can sometimes mess up our words..lol. I am so thankful I have such a wonderful doctor though..Hope you have a great day. 🙂
Oh Tammy, I am so sorry about your super scary medical episode. Bodies can be so strange sometimes, can't they. I am glad you are on the path to mending however. Hopefully the pain subsides very soon. As for the large collection, I totally hear you there. It's really hard. I have had to slow my ordering significantly this year. It has affected how many candles I can buy to review even because I have so many backups and they just kept piling up with each new order. It's why I don't feel bad about melting them at all. I get the fragrance which is really the most important part for me. Have you ever thought about selling some of your candles? I did a bit of that in the past. I will say I did get burned a couple times with that on Mercari so I quit but I sold a ton and it felt good to give them a new home. Sending you some positive thoughts and healing vibes! I hope things look up more every day that passes with regard to the pain!
Mine get hazy on the inside and I love to be able to see the candles better. I also get fingerprints on the glass when changing candles out. Drives me nuts 🤣

YES! Absolutely. They look great in there. But pedestals do not fit, FYI.

Glassway spray is the best glass cleaner and so cheap.
I use their stainless steel spray and its awesome!
I honestly never clean any hurricanes or holders. They only touch the outside of the candle jars & so they don’t get dirty to need cleaning
Mine get hazy on the inside and I love to be able to see the candles better. I also get fingerprints on the glass when changing candles out. Drives me nuts 🤣
