Thanks for sharing your detailed information about cruises. I've done 1-transatlantic on then new Carnival Celebration from Southampton UK to Miami and two transpacific in 2019 from Long Beach to Singapore (24-days) and 2023 from Seattle to Brisbane Australia (30-days). I completed my US military career relatively young and I wanted to take some time to travel while I have my health and able to walk. I visited 60-countries so far and completed my 60-cruises on the new Icon of the Seas for superbowl. Sold my last rental property near Fort Gordon GA and preparing to travel. Hopefully our paths cross in the future so I can meet you travel rock stars:). Again, thank you for sharing!
Casino deals are without doubt the best deal one can get for a cruise. Problem is one doesn't know if it will come for your specific cruise. Another best deal are last minute cruise deals. I bought 11 of them last year and probably paid less than one cruise at a regular price.
Great data sleuthing. And I agree with the context you provided. We usually book interiors ourselves but every once in a while if the season/ itinerary suits, we will spring for a balcony. If location matters, I would book early. I always want a cabin between two decks. A cheaper interior beneath the dining or public decks wouldn’t be worth the savings imo!
Hi. Great analysis! Thanks for laying it all out so clearly. You may remember us from the Majestic princess repositioning cruise back in October. It’s amazing that we will see you again on the return as we are also on the Royal Princess to Tokyo…then we also switch to another cruise going to Seattle. I guess great minds think alike - ha ha. See you soon. Bob and Jeannette
Yes we are also on the Westerdam. Booked both in Jan 2023. Surprisingly, at that time the Royal Princess cruise from Sydney ended in Yokohama and wasn’t able to be booked to continue on to North America, but then we luckily found the Westerdam which did. Later the Royal Princess could be booked to Vancouver but we stuck with the Westerdam to Seattle. Will see you soon.
This is a kick-ass video. It is so great to see the actual data! (It is also nice that your data confirms my experience.) And yes, I totally want to see your Spreadsheet! 😁
So you're doing the Westerdam trans-Pacific crossing again this year. I'm headed to Vietnam next week and am looking at doing that cruise again as my way home. Nothing booked yet. As a solo traveler, the price is still a bit high at $1798 for a Guaranteed Inside. I understand that it's more than last year as that one was 14 days vs this year at 16 days. Then I'd stay to visit Tammy & David in Seattle who I also met on last year's cruise. I'll let you know if I book it.
Yes! Oh that would be so fun to see you. We're zipping right from Seattle to San Diego... But I wonder if we could sneak a quick hug with The Barr Scene. Good idea!
Just fyi Princess just launched a new program that states the first time the cruise hits this will be the lowest pricing guaranteed. They will not discount closer to sale any longer. Might be something to consider on your future cruises. I noticed you had a number of them for Princess.
The Cruise Line CEOs say things like this from time to time, because they hate that people (like me) wait until the last minute to book to get cheaper pricing. But it doesn't seem like they ever actually follow through with it. Maybe they will at some point of course, waiting is always a bit of a gamble, but so far I haven't seen it on the Repositioning cruises we've taken.
Fantastic analysis! Super interesting that the cruise lines will always keep trying to sell inside cabins. We (Lisa and Lance) will be joining you in Tokyo to sail back to Vancouver. I actually booked the cruise while we were still on Majestic Princess. I don't think booking onboard necessarily made a difference -- Dean's price and Princess's price were the same at the time -- but I haven't noticed prices for our cabin decreasing (obstructed balcony -- we're getting kind of bougie). I think demand for the Royal Princess sailing seems to be staying pretty high because it is such a good itinerary -- Japan and Alaska!
Oh it will be so great to see you! The Royal itinerary is great, but expensive to Alaska. We're jumping off it in Tokyo to catch Westerdam--same itinerary but $1000 cheaper (more or less.) Are you on Westerdam or Royal?
Not sure if mentioned and I missed it but assuming as you're American this is in US dollars ? Us Aussies need to do a conversion and then we feel ripped off when the initial price looks good but we have to x1.5 :(
A little different topic but do you slow travel with backpacks, carryons or some other size luggage? Just curious as we start our travels. I enjoy your videos.
Great video! Thanks. A question: my wife and I plan to take our depositing cruise next October from Europe to America. We plan to book interior cabin beacuse it is the cheapest. What cabins should we select and what to avoid. We both like to have a quiet cabin if possible. Thanks guys for your help! Ciao!
Thanks for this very helpful analysis. I'm confused about what the difference is between the Princess website and Princess Onboard. Also, did you have a chance to compare deals through CruisePlum? Thanks again.
The difference with princess: one price "princess onboard" is the price offered thru the future cruise desk on board vs the website price. Yes on Cruise plum. Buying thru cruise plum takes you to the cruise line websites.
And your blog post about how to get rid of memorabilia is excellent. Thank you so much for understanding followers like me. The struggle is real
Thank you for watching. So happy we can help.
I love the graph! Brilliant! Thank you for sharing all your hardwork!!!❤❤ Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I'll add, for single travelers, the "fabulous prices" are for double occupancy. So single travelers should expect to pay ~twice the advertised price.
Yes, solo travelers are a whole different price point

Great tips. Our research tells us to wait until the price comes down.

Yes, if location is important, you prob don't want to wait

Yes, you're right. They made that announcement in 4th quarter last year. We totally debunked this.

@@lisab8277 but we'll overlap in yoko for the day. Let's plan to grab a cuppa perhaps

We slow travel with carryons. We have a fab video about our bags and our packing lists. Take a look
Great video! Thanks.

Fantastic. We prefer middle of the ship inside cabins due to better access and less rocking
to compare apples-to-apples do you have the price from VTG on a balcony to compare what you show with Costco?
I'm sorry, no.
