My aunt, Suzanne Fox, worked with Randy Thom on the foley for this film. In fact, she was either the ADR or Foley editor for a lot of the films featured on this channel, since she worked at Skywalker Sound for 30+ years.
When I say this channel is going to be cited HUNDREDS of times in my thesis, I mean it. Actually saved my dissertation, thank you, whoever owns this channel, respectfully, I love you.
What a legend. I worked on "Allied" as an extra so I got to pay close attention to how the sound was being recorded (boomed, mixed etc.). Randy is right when he says that sound is too often overlooked in the filmmaking process. I would love to hear how he went from doing sound for "Star Wars" to then doing "Spaceballs" - must have been a lot of fun.
I actually just watch this movie last night, and it was really good. If I’m going to be honest, I almost cried when Tom Hanks’ character tried reaching for Wilson.
Hello, can i ask you : where do you find all this music track and isolated effects? are you in contact with the studios that keep the mixing stems? ( it's just curiosity). Thank you for your work. It's amazing.
Always appreciate these videos. Commentary had me chuckling during the waves bit though. Not sure where they were looking but I hear sounds like that constantly on all the Great Lakes beaches
So rare to see this many people pleased with the content. Great effort. Well Done I am trying myself de create sound effects to sell them as an amateur, do you have any suggestions?

Cast Away should have won the Oscar for Best Sound. It was exquisite work.
The cinematography for the ocean sound sight castaway should won oscar sound mixing too
