For English - the same as every language , it can be colloquial, accent can vary, pronunciation can differ. Even English people won't expect proper pronunciation like these ladies do. Language is a skill , it doesn't need a school . Ancient Tamils ruled the trade only with Tamil in the ancient days. The misconception should be cleared . They need to learn to see wider.

Students must be taught to appreciate a literary piece, the nuances of a language and the odds it has surpassed to stand where it is today. One should look at how foreign language schools teach their languages in India and how the level exam (Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha) syllabus of Hindi or for that matter, Tamil subject content in Indian schools look like. It's the system that is to be blamed and not the society. According to me Indian languages are thriving well, because they embrace other languages with it and any non-native speaker can pick up any Indian language very well with foundation level knowledge of the language and adding English inbetween. I don't see a flaw there. Languages are for communicating and our languages serve the purpose very well.
