A lot of people are complaining about the inefficiency’s and design flaws of this turbine/generator setup. I would like to remind everyone that this is clearly a situation where funding was severely limited. In a perfect world everything would be precision machined and manufactured out of the best materials and with the best processes in addition to being expertly engineered. We do not live in that world, we live in this one. I have been in countless situations where I’ve had to “make things work” and can tell you when availability of materials in addition to severe budget constraints are your main obstacles you often have to choose between reliability and efficiency. Take the turbine housing for example. That looks like the housing of a large industrial blower that has been repurposed and modified for this project. Due to both structural and reliability reasons top feeding the turbine with this housing might not have even been possible.

Deben instalar un venturi a la tubería para incrementar la velocidad del fluido. Para eso la rueda Pelton tiene una ranura para optimizar la presión ejercida sobre ella.

Have you considered funneling the water outlet closer to the wheel? As well as a smaller opening from the outlet pipe in order to increase the water speed? Nice setup by the way 😁

Looks good, but I'd toss some kind of tensioner on those belts or you're gonna have a hell of a mess in no time. A single barrel roller (aka cylinder) setup like a mouse trap so it puts equal tension from both sides should do wonderful.

No conozco mucho de este tema. Pero necesito generar electricidad en un lugar rural donde no tenemos ninguna posibilidad de conseguirla. Y se me ocurre la siguiente idea, funcionara un generador a gasolina o diesel y no haciendolo funcionar con alguno de estos combustibles y remplazarlo por la fuerza del agua utilizando algun tipo de turbina con ruedas y poleas para hacerlo girar y producir energia electrica. Y no depender de los combustibles ya que es muy cara la mantencion. Si hay algun entendido en este sistema pueda asesorarme
Sí se puede utilizar tu generador para aplicarlo a una rueda Pelton. Pero es un proceso largo y complejo suyo no tienes conocimientos de ingeniería mecánica te recomiendo comprarla

Tu no mencionas el voltage a que funciona la planta , pero solo tienes que multiplicar el voltage por los 250 amps este resultado es en watts y solo tienes que dividirlo por 1.000 y eso son los kw.

I think the speed should be reduced since the pelton runner must be operate at very high RPM. the pulley diameter at the generator should be larger than the turbine, i think.... Anyway, it needs alot of effort to build this..
@@Gracomaq this is an inefficient design as your only gaining kinetic energy from the water pressure. You not even capturing 100% of the pressure and losing the energy of the mass of the water. The water wheel needs turned 180 degrees from current position and introduce the water at the top of the wheel. This will enhance the efficiency of the water pressure onto the wheel and you will also gain energy from the reaction of gravity on the mass of the water. There is alot more power to gain from that much pressure and volume.

This water wheel is not large enough, nor is there enough water volume to produce 100 KW of power. One hundred KW is equal to about 134 HP and this wheel is much to small for that amount of output. Considering the large size of the overshot grist mill wheels, they only produced about 30 HP at full capacity. However, a fully enclosed turbine water wheel of the same size would produce more power for the same volume of water flow, but probably still couldn't produce 100 KW with the same volume and water pressure.
No, sorry, I don't have have any formulas for setting up water wheels, but there must be literature somewhere or information online for that purpose. I based my comments posted here on previous observations of larger diameter overshot water wheels. Obviously, a high volume water supply with enough pressure could drive a turbine more efficiently than the slower falling water over old style overshot wheel.

Plus, you're spewing some of the water onto your electrical components.
100 kW isn't that much power. Tesla builds electric motors with like 3 times the power and half the size.

I think the speed should be reduced since the pelton runner must be operate at very high RPM. the pulley diameter at the generator should be larger than the turbine, i think.... Anyway, it needs alot of effort to build this..
Water exit velocity is way too high, you could pull way more power from that

@@Gracomaq this is an inefficient design as your only gaining kinetic energy from the water pressure. You not even capturing 100% of the pressure and losing the energy of the mass of the water.
The water wheel needs turned 180 degrees from current position and introduce the water at the top of the wheel. This will enhance the efficiency of the water pressure onto the wheel and you will also gain energy from the reaction of gravity on the mass of the water. There is alot more power to gain from that much pressure and volume.

This water wheel is not large enough, nor is there enough water volume to produce 100 KW of power. One hundred KW is equal to about 134 HP and this wheel is much to small for that amount of output. Considering the large size of the overshot grist mill wheels, they only produced about 30 HP at full capacity. However, a fully enclosed turbine water wheel of the same size would produce more power for the same volume of water flow, but probably still couldn't produce 100 KW with the same volume and water pressure.

No, sorry, I don't have have any formulas for setting up water wheels, but there must be literature somewhere or information online for that purpose. I based my comments posted here on previous observations of larger diameter overshot water wheels. Obviously, a high volume water supply with enough pressure could drive a turbine more efficiently than the slower falling water over old style overshot wheel.
