When I built the RG Zeta one of the tiny flimsy hip joints broke as I attached it to the frame. I didn’t even get a chance to break it during a pose or a transformation!
In all fairness, the bar is set exceptionally low. ....I genuinely don't understand how the franchise has managed to survive this long, and yet still manages to cough out alt modes that look like crumpled up humanoids on the best of days. You'd think Takara occasionally doing model kits of properly transforming Transformers, or heck, even Bandai's own Sentai minipla, would give gunpla the kick in the pants needed to up their game, but apparently not.
it's interesting that you didn’t mention this in the review, but this kit is in some sense trying to replicate how the Zeta looks at the start of ZZ Gundam, which is why it says UC 0088
A P-Bandai that doesn't feel premium. Ain't that the norm now? They just shove whatever they think won't sell much or don't plan to restock into this category.
7:25 Honestly I'll take these all red parts over the og HG's casted in all black, makes it easier to just mask and paint the area black instead of the other way around (you'll need to prime and do multiple layers to get the tone of red paint right on the part)
In retrospect I don't get why Bandai didn't do the backpack color separation this way with the base version of the revive. From what I'd heard I'd assumed that the whole backpack would be perfectly color separated, but its not really and it only uses a few more parts than the original kit.
FYI amiami has this kit in stock used, just ordered one myself! Can't wait to build it without having to deal with the stickers that the other versions comes with
I'm actually really happy with my RG Zeta. It is blue label, to be fair and I haven't transformed it (nor do I plan to, I have the 2.0 for that), but it looks amazing.
Here's some information, I have the Original version of this kit, if you you use the actual Front skirtings the center of the Parts forming base is hollow enough that you can put the Front skirts in there and it won't effect the Wave rider mode or stand
in the lore this version of the Zeta is meant to be the ZZ Gundam version as in it was upgraded with new parts after its final battle with The O which is kinda strange that the only damage to the Zeta is its nosecone shield after ramming The O in Waverider mode and its poor pilot's brain........
I have the original revive version of the zeta and it's great. The head doesn't have a lot of articulation. I extended the neck on mine a little to give it more articulation and now it can look left or right
It's amazing how much can change with just a few parts (the backpack) -- I have the Revive one (which looks okay), but the polycaps in the hips are so loose he has trouble standing up :)
Not a fan of having to remove every single limp. I remember my first HG Zeta from 1990 with almost full tranformation just by removing one single abs piece. What an awesome design.
When you line this up with the regular Zeta revive side by side, I prefer the regular HGUC Zeta. I have this on pre-order, so I'll probably just swap the binders lol. I'll display this in waverider mode or something.
I have the revive version, didn’t buy this version because of too little difference I might forget which is which. But i bought the wave shooter version instead. I also have the 2004 version which i converted to zeta honoo with hobby japan conversion parts
I would love to see how it compares to the original HGUC (need to clarify the HGUC, since the Zeta has an even older just HG), mostly because I like the look of the older HGUC Zeta. Kitbashing the joints of this kit (or the normal one non p bandai too), weapons and side skirts of the RG (for the beam saber storage) and the look of the original HGUC would be my dream 1/44 Zeta Gundam. That may be just me though.
I think this needs a revive of the revive version, it has too much problems with some articulation points like the shoulder ball joint being too tight OOB or the lower leg being too loose on the knee (and the feet ball joints on mine are too loose)
For the wings I thought of buying both versions and cutting the red off of one and the black of the other and putting them together to make a color accurate version
The only think I hate about it is the shoulder pads I super dislike it. Definitely a 10000 times better than the revive version tho lol. I definitely prefer the ver ka over all. Love your stuff keep it up!!
Hello mecha gaikotsu, i enjoyed your videos about a lot of gunpla and I got into it starting with HG Aile Strike Gundam and some SD gyndams. However, I was wondering if you could do a video ranking some good mobile suit plamo that isn't a gundam variant, meaning ranking non-gundam kits like any mobile suit that doesn't have gundam in its name. If you could do it, I would be grateful to see your opinion on it.
Still can't believe they decided to release this version only a year or so after their own standard version came out, like, after a few years yeah it might suck since it's the definitive version but at least you don't feel that damn FOMO immediately after getting the original standard release and then being teased with this on P-Bandai just a year later.
Honestly this is better than the 'Revive' version of the HGUC MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam, but at this point it might be better to just stick with the recent MG MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam Ver Ka and then wait for Bandai to maybe make an RG MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam [Ver 2.0] at a later date.
I actually built mine just recently (after sitting in it’s box for like 4 years) and man some of these joints are awful. I hate how this feels so much I wonder if I could just slap the backpack onto a regular Revive Zeta to make a better version.
The partsforming nature is exactly what I despise about all the HG Zeta Gundam kits. The original (and badly inaccurate) HG, the HGUC, the Revive, and now this thing that's basically the Revive Remix. I don't get why Bandai can't get a proper transformation correct, especially when there were these older white box HGs of the Zetaplus C1 (that I used to have) and the Zetaplus A1 that absolutely had proper transformations. Maybe the Plus A1/C1 is a simpler design than the original Zeta? Who knows. But it sucks that the Zeta, my favorite Gundam after Deathscythe EW/Deathscythe-Hell EW just can't get any respect at 1/144. (And I HAVE the Revive. That's the only aspect I just don't like about it.)
I hate the shoulder joint first time building the zeta revive i don't know how tight it could be so while playing with it the joint broke granted i fix it but oh does it take a lot of work to really make it as it was
Makes me wonder how much of the actual kit can transform without using the frame. It feels weird having to strip it down like that and still calling it 'premium'.
i blundered my hg revive zeta by thickening the shoulder joints and shearing both off (i had just built a streak of janky kits) at least the joints from hg destiny/seed action system still work on this guy but honestly its a lost cause

So the red on the backpack of this P-Bandai is colour seperated while the standard release uses stickers.... Typical Bandai move. But it does looks nice though
It's a double-edged sword if you want to be nitpicky about it. As mentioned, the small wings aren't color accurate due to them being fully red. I guess the best (but expensive) thing to do is to buy the regular one and then this one and use the color separated parts. I guess they really messed this one up. Someone must've overlooked the placement of parts in the runner and proceeded to mix them up. Clearly, the red in the backpack could've easily been color separated. Even the red part in the shield could've been a separate piece yet we resorted to stickers. I even think this P-Bandai release is a course correction but because it's P-Bandai, it hardly was.
Grenades are color inaccurate lol. Should be red, not grey. How do you screw that up, especially on a Premium Bandai kit designed specifically to be closer to color accurate? And given how small the part is, we REALLY couldn't have gotten it as a part? Sad.
Unsatisfying transformation still sounds better than whatever the hell happened with the RG Zeta.
AMEN BRUTHA!!!
With today’s technology, I bet they can make a a sturdy transformation
the rg zeta is good tho
@@pwnage402i think they mentioned about early rg syndrome, with those loose peg after playing with them for a while

In case it was a mistake and you didn’t just change your mind, you put this video in your gundarium tier playlist instead of platinum tier playlist
Several decades later, and Zeta's Waverider is still one of the most beautiful "jet mode" to ever exist in the Gundam multiverse.
yeah next would be strider mode of Age 2

I think most ppl wanted to see a direct comparison between this kit and the "regular" HG revive...
There are countless 0088 reviews that compare it to the regular revive at this point.
Genuinely a good zeta gundam. Really hope Bandai re-releases the wave shooter variant
I notice they usually do during the new years.
I have this and the wave shooter. It’s so good.
Praying that we get an RG Zeta and Sinanju 2.0, those two are the ones that absolutely need it most imo

Zeta face has always look amazing to me
The ZZ version of the zeta in high grade form
I have the Revive: a really beautiful kit, nice articulation, sticker hell, loose hips, really tight arms, shit transformation, great waverider.
Sounds like a love hate situation
P-Bandai exclusive thick calves....

Probably budget for retail versus P-Bandai. Retailers want kits at certain prices.
@@feral404 is that really the case tho? most of the seed freedom kits are priced like 30% more than the hg zeta
@@razrafz a lot has changed since then. Kits are far more advanced and complex now. Very few are priced as loss leaders (ie, HG Aerial).
