I dont think Connor realises that he isnt ugly, he just didnt choose a fitting character. I mean as an adult man it would be hard for most people to pull it off but he still managed to do a good job at it.
He honestly fit the character, it's just that he doesn't have the features of an asian which is what he was comparing to. I think that if he didn't compare himself to the asian character, he could have more fun with it.

I think the biggest insecurity Connor had was with posing, and as someone who does photography on the side and also does cosplaying on the side, I wanted to share a few tiny tips (even if he never sees it maybe someone will, hell I don't know) 1. get into the mind of the character. You aren't posing as you, you're posing as the character. Let yourself embrace them and posing will become more fluid. It's like acting, without words. 2. look at the first few takes. You'll find what you do or do not like: your arm may feel awkward or your smile isn't quite how you want it. 3. communicate with your crew! most likely the photographer already has a few ideas of what they want to photograph so try to get an idea while you're with them 4. have fun with it! the whole point is to giggle and laugh and feel like a different version of your kickass self! ps: you did wonderful Connor!
As an amateur photographer, I know how important it is to make people feel at ease during a photoshoot. I'm really surprised to hear that Connor felt so uncomfortable and unsure of what to do during the entire session. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong, but I can only imagine the worst case scenario: Maybe the Japanese(?) photographer had never worked with English speakers, and didn't know English, forcing Connor to rely on a translator. That sounds like a nightmare. Or it could've been that the photographer wasn't experienced in directing and posing people, which is kind of their job, right? It's reasonable to expect professional photographers to help their models feel relaxed and guide them through the process. Whatever the case, it doesn't sound like an ideal situation at all.

I think you'd really enjoy this whole process a bit more if you chose a character that really spoke to YOU. That's half the joy of cosplaying for me, seeing myself as a character I absolutely love. I would love to see you do this again with that in mind, love the video!

@@zuckersaft9748 when I tried my first professional Cosplay shooting I felt the same. I get why he’s so nervous and doesn’t feel comfortable. Suddenly you feel like you don’t know how to look good at all 😅 posing is hard and trying to act as the character at the same time makes it harder.

I think by choosing this "difficult" character, it shows how amazing these people with their works. Jojo would be easy fit for you but this boyish character made it possible that anyone could cosplay with professional help.

Is clear thsy they have lots of orders, but I kind of agree, the costume itself isn't that good? Also I imagine Connor didn't think of move around, sitting and stuff when choosing the fabric, which ended in fear of ripping. It seems a very common issue lol, but is a think that should be considered, specially when the usual way is messing around in the costume for hours in a convention... XD
I looked away from the screen for a little bit and when I heard Kaho’s voice I immediately began laughing. I love that she just periodically takes over your channel.
Remember, it's cosplay, not an exact replica. the whole point is that YOU are the one becoming the charcter, so you should embrace how fucking good you look in the cosplay, because you look great
I think the caveat to this is that you should pick a makeup artist who knows how to work with your face. The cosplay was killer, but the makeup did not translate well on Connor’s features
@@Flatcetera I have to disagree. In my opinion the makeup/wig was the best, most suiting part. I was skeptical going in, but I think the makeup artist killed it.

Also, and anyone is free to correct me if I’m wrong, but the way his jaw got blurred/edited in the final pics served… no one. Kaho is that friend everyone needs in their life. Getting you trying new and sometimes crazy things that you never considered before. Some things work out better than others, but even just trying can be a worthwhile experience. Also, props on Connor for going with a cos that matches Kaho even though he wasn't 100% with it. Both of them are real ones and it'd be cool to see more professional cosplays!

He has tons of fans on his side and there's no evidence of the allegations being remotely true. I'm not sure why Kaho would worry about that, she'd still have far more fans than most of her haters and I doubt anyone would actually care. If she does believe it though, simply because other women said it, I do blame her for not following the lack of evidence of the allegations.

If you're ever planning to cosplay more characters, I think Jojo is a good pick. There are bunch of characters that would fit your bone structure. (finding characters to cosplay that have the same face shape as yours immediately makes you look a lot more like them)

You can just look at characters, show them to friends and other people you trust and that know your face well and then you figure out which one you look the most similar to. Bone structure is an important thing so sometimes you will suit characters drawn by a certain artist more than that of another.
@@kittycatgirl1139 There's also make up techniques you can use to change your face shape or give the illusion of stronger or softer features like contouring and face taping. Face taping can really help when trying to make you jaw and face look slim and angular, which kinda gives you the pointy anime chin look.
@@fatefullydead5585 To sort of explain this, it brightens some spots and gives shadow to others to fulfill the illusion. Makeup truly is a terrifying form of magic, I swear.
I think a Jojo cosplay would be more fun, comfortable and also interesting for the artists who put it together! And maybe being more familiar and comfortable with the source charcater will help with the awkward posing and all. This video was amazing and I would love to see more like this in the future!
As a photographer, I think the shoot always takes a minute to warm up. And especially since it was probably your first time doing something like this you did great! I think you def should do it again with a character you know how to really embody. The camera loves confidence :D remember Kaho has also had way more experience, but you’ll get there!
You should definitely do a JoJo Cosplay. The best part of Cosplay is being able to bring a character you love to life. You will feel a lot more comfortable in your Cosplay if you know their characteristics and their poses will hopefully come naturally. You could even make some extra props for your Cosplay as part of the process for the photo shoot, play around with some EVA foam or just have some fun with it. ☺️✨
Connor is the type of guy to be like, "I'm just gonna get a couple cheap face masks, cause this pandemic won't last long enough to justify a proper fitting one." I swear the day he gets a proper fitting mask for a video the pandemic will end before he gets to use it.
What you're missing is confidence! It really shows if you're comfortable in a costume or not. That goes for any kind of clothes though, you need to own the look, it shows if you do! Fun video in any case!

Kaho's regular outfits are a thing of its own. At 21:21 she looked like an anime boss. Probably because she is a boss. I like how Connor is just "hey, yeah, that's me, T-shirt and some pants" while Kaho's like "Hello! I am Kaho! The proud owner of many clothing items! Take a look, I like this one and this one and this one! They're all amazing!" The cosplay is excellent, the level of details is truly amazing. As Connor said, in which way does one exist when doing professional photography, there are so many details that can make or break a good photo. This was very interesting and entertaining to watch. I'm a costume stitcher/cosplayer, this didn't surprise me at all with how much time and money goes into making a costume/cosplay. Making a good costume doesn't happen over night, it takes time and patience. Thank you Conner for sharing this side of cosplaying.❤️
Really, I was surprised with how cheap it was, considering the number of people involved with just the segments Conner recorded. Given it is professional work, the hourly rate much be unusually low by comparison.
Facts. I did cosplay commissions for 8 years and just the planning alone can take weeks, especially because most character designs I did for clients did not involve seams that existed in the realm of sanity.
I’m so envious of people who sew there own cosplays. I have no idea where to start for them & it’s even worse when it’s not a common cosplay & there’s no guide or patterns. Does anyone have any tips for starting?
You should believe in yourself more Connor. You’ll give anything a try and your content is unique for it. That cosplay was really good! I enjoyed seeing the whole process beginning to end and think you should do it again with a character of your choosing so you’d savour the experience more. You should bring Kaho along too!
@@maineman5757 I understand٫ as a brittish person myself. Out of everyone I know I think maybe only 2 or 3 people do know but everyone else will never know how much confidence I have or rather my lack of it.
Connor should totally do a Ladd Russo cosplay. He already loves his JoJo suits so I'm sure he'd be right at home with that aspect. It'd honestly mostly be the hair, some makeup and maybe a prop cigar at that point. He could even use his own hair if he let it grow out some and maybe dyed it if he wanted to. Maybe get a suit that looks like it's covered in blood and/or bullet holes if that's too boring otherwise. Thinking in terms of anime characters that Connor could cosplay where he wouldn't need to look like a "young anime boy" protagonist. Just thinking about one that Connor could both appreciate and easily absolutely nail no problem. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go watch Baccano again.
@@Skyfrei_ Hers involved a lot more armor pieces and stuff like fitting the teeth and the colored contacts. Both costumes needed a lot of skill but hers was probably more time-consuming to make.
You and Kaho looked really nice! I feel like everyone who starts doing cosplay seriously has the same insecurities and nervousness in terms of posing and feeling a bit lost. Having a good photographer, setting, costume, and makeup artist definitely helps a lot too. I hope you do this again, definitely do a JoJo character or someone you really like, it's going to make the personal experience so much more fun.

I kept thinking Connor might look good cosplaying a character like Vash from Trigun or a white version of Spike from Cowboy Bebop, but this one is mostly bc Kaho would make a great Faye Valentine.
I think it would be really cool for Connor to do this, but with JoJo. I feel like the style would suit him better as well as Connor being more interested in JoJo himself, so it would be more fun. But it was really great video to see behind the scenes of professional cosplay industry

When you add up the actual costs of supplies, equipment and factor in a reasonable rate for actual labour for a project like this, $1500-$2000 is actually low balling for most individual cosplayers! It's such a fun hobby but it is NOT cheap when you do things thoroughly and properly!
For quality, that's definitely a good rough estimate, in USD(?). Knowing the best way to bootleg the materials is all part of the fun, for all that craftsmanship.

Highly recommend reading the manga called sono bisque doll wa koi wo suro . It really does a good job showing all of the steps and feelings that go into being a cosplayer and costume creator for the cosplayer. Also it is just a super cute manga. I think it is coming out/ is out with an anime too.

That sounds like a nightmare. Or it could've been that the photographer wasn't experienced in directing and posing people, which is kind of their job, right? It's reasonable to expect professional photographers to help their models feel relaxed and guide them through the process. Whatever the case, it doesn't sound like an ideal situation at all.

I think by choosing this "difficult" character, it shows how amazing these people with their works. Jojo would be easy fit for you but this boyish character made it possible that anyone could cosplay with professional help.

Is clear thsy they have lots of orders, but I kind of agree, the costume itself isn't that good? Also I imagine Connor didn't think of move around, sitting and stuff when choosing the fabric, which ended in fear of ripping. It seems a very common issue lol, but is a think that should be considered, specially when the usual way is messing around in the costume for hours in a convention... XD

Remember, it's cosplay, not an exact replica. the whole point is that YOU are the one becoming the charcter, so you should embrace how fucking good you look in the cosplay, because you look great

I think the caveat to this is that you should pick a makeup artist who knows how to work with your face. The cosplay was killer, but the makeup did not translate well on Connor’s features

Kaho is that friend everyone needs in their life. Getting you trying new and sometimes crazy things that you never considered before. Some things work out better than others, but even just trying can be a worthwhile experience. Also, props on Connor for going with a cos that matches Kaho even though he wasn't 100% with it. Both of them are real ones and it'd be cool to see more professional cosplays!

If you're ever planning to cosplay more characters, I think Jojo is a good pick. There are bunch of characters that would fit your bone structure. (finding characters to cosplay that have the same face shape as yours immediately makes you look a lot more like them)
Do you have a guide for cosplaying characters that look similar/ have a similar face type? I always look for accuracy in cosplays
@@kittycatgirl1139 there isn't really a guide you can follow. You can just look at characters, show them to friends and other people you trust and that know your face well and then you figure out which one you look the most similar to.
Bone structure is an important thing so sometimes you will suit characters drawn by a certain artist more than that of another.
@@kittycatgirl1139 There's also make up techniques you can use to change your face shape or give the illusion of stronger or softer features like contouring and face taping. Face taping can really help when trying to make you jaw and face look slim and angular, which kinda gives you the pointy anime chin look.
@@fatefullydead5585 To sort of explain this, it brightens some spots and gives shadow to others to fulfill the illusion. Makeup truly is a terrifying form of magic, I swear.

As a photographer, I think the shoot always takes a minute to warm up. And especially since it was probably your first time doing something like this you did great! I think you def should do it again with a character you know how to really embody. The camera loves confidence :D remember Kaho has also had way more experience, but you’ll get there!

You should definitely do a JoJo Cosplay. The best part of Cosplay is being able to bring a character you love to life. You will feel a lot more comfortable in your Cosplay if you know their characteristics and their poses will hopefully come naturally. You could even make some extra props for your Cosplay as part of the process for the photo shoot, play around with some EVA foam or just have some fun with it. ☺️✨

You should believe in yourself more Connor. You’ll give anything a try and your content is unique for it. That cosplay was really good! I enjoyed seeing the whole process beginning to end and think you should do it again with a character of your choosing so you’d savour the experience more. You should bring Kaho along too!

Connor should totally do a Ladd Russo cosplay. He already loves his JoJo suits so I'm sure he'd be right at home with that aspect. It'd honestly mostly be the hair, some makeup and maybe a prop cigar at that point. He could even use his own hair if he let it grow out some and maybe dyed it if he wanted to. Maybe get a suit that looks like it's covered in blood and/or bullet holes if that's too boring otherwise. Thinking in terms of anime characters that Connor could cosplay where he wouldn't need to look like a "young anime boy" protagonist.

@@Skyfrei_ Hers involved a lot more armor pieces and stuff like fitting the teeth and the colored contacts. Both costumes needed a lot of skill but hers was probably more time-consuming to make.
You and Kaho looked really nice! I feel like everyone who starts doing cosplay seriously has the same insecurities and nervousness in terms of posing and feeling a bit lost. Having a good photographer, setting, costume, and makeup artist definitely helps a lot too.
I hope you do this again, definitely do a JoJo character or someone you really like, it's going to make the personal experience so much more fun.

When you add up the actual costs of supplies, equipment and factor in a reasonable rate for actual labour for a project like this, $1500-$2000 is actually low balling for most individual cosplayers! It's such a fun hobby but it is NOT cheap when you do things thoroughly and properly!
Just for a point of reference, I've been crafting a cosplay for about a year, about halfway done and over 100+ hours of labour so far 😂

Highly recommend reading the manga called sono bisque doll wa koi wo suro . It really does a good job showing all of the steps and feelings that go into being a cosplayer and costume creator for the cosplayer. Also it is just a super cute manga.
