      Difference between this and past trackers is Apple made this one talk to others devices to let them know they are being tracked. Question is how many people are being tracked with devices that aren’t telling you it’s tracking you. Apple just makes it obvious you’re being tracked without your knowledge

    • @BlackSeranna

      This is just one of a long line of them, before that there was Tile, and if I recall there were other types of trackers. I thought those were extremely useful to put on keychains so you could find the lost keys, or in another case, just knowing where your kid is. It's not all nefarious. In my opinion, it's a great way to keep your kid protected; if someone does try to take them, as long as they have their keys or whatever these devices are attached to, they can be recovered unharmed. A bad buy will know to throw away a cell phone, everyone knows those can track, but will they know about these little button-shaped things?

    If they have an iphone 12 or later they can find the precise location of the airtag. your typical shop won't know this unless they take the simple step of researching it and finding someone with a 12 pro or 13 pro to help locate it. Maybe the best bet is to take the car to an apple store and an apple employee with one of those devices can help you find it. You can also deactivate the airtag from your phone and when found remove the battery. Apple can trace the airtag to the apple id it belongs to and identify who has been tracking you and take steps to arrest them if it's a crime to do so in the area where the airtag was found.

    If the technology can be made to be smart enough to detect when it's with someone it's not supposed to be with, couldn't they also design it so that it automatically turns off tracking in those situations? Apple bears some responsibility here if people are hurt from this.

    • @skug978

      Well the supposedly "correct" way to use this tech is to put it inside your suitcase, in your car, so that if your stuff is stolen then "you" can track it. Your proposed solution allows the Thief's iPhone to turn off the tracker. (As such your AirTag would be useless in trying to recover your stolen item.)

Apple is merely saying that they can protect you from their own tracking devices (I doubt they will make you pay for it, or if they are, I doubt they will do it for long as that is bad public relations) - but let's be fair - Apple at least notifies a person whether one of their own devices is tracking you. I'm pretty sure that if Google or Samsung put out a tracking device, Apple may not be able to notify a person of an unknown device they didn't make. You are trying to make one company responsible for every other company's devices? I feel like you, yourself, have missed the point. If you were a police department you would be required to have a court order to put a tracer on somebody's vehicle. There have already been cases where Apple tags have been put on cars that not even experts could find they were so well hidden. Keep in mind if someone puts one of these on your car the criminal can turn it on and turn it off when they want to YOU CAN'T!!! Just wait untill you're sleeping. Knowing there’s a device on your person and being altered is great but if you can’t find it, waiting for the battery to die is not a solution. Android devices the problem only gets worse. Most people, especially older people don’t even know what airtags are, let alone know they need a separate app to detect one, and even then running it manually is not a solution, unless you plan on running it 5 times a day, to then not find it, to then wait a year for it’s battery to die. Every AirTag has a unique serial number, and paired AirTags are associated with an Apple ID. Apple can provide the paired account details in response to a subpoena or valid request from law enforcement. Milwaukee Tools has a TRACKING Similar device , so it shouldn't just be Isolated to Apple AirTags. The Milwaukee Tool Tracker can be bought online or at Hardware stores . If you use Apple products it will Notify you if AIRTAG is present , but Milwaukee tracker doesn't notify anyone ,scary.

    YES IT IS ILLEGAL. SUE in your local court under name of John Doe for intentional and neglectful emotional distress caused by putting tracking device on your car causing you significant distress. THEN file subpoena duces tecum naming APPLE as party to provide the document by set time to state who owns the stalking air tag. IF you do not get the record by the time you have to get the John Doe served, ask for extension of time to serve the party. DONT listen to this media or police who says it is not illegal. YES it is. They are trying to give police right to use them on people and get people conditioned to accept this. THEY DO NOT quote any statute that says it is legal to put tracking devices on someone elses car unless they use to stalk. RUBBISH. IF any cop tells you that demand they quote the statute. ONCE you get the name of the person stalking, it can open doors for damages. YOU MUST request damages in the suit. MOST local county courts filing fees are under 200 dollars. THEN if the police do not work to get the persons name of the stalker and refuses to tell you the statute they claim makes it legal to stalk you with air tags, then serve them with a cease and desist to conspire to stalk you with criminals by giving them permission saying there is nothing illegal. READ your states stalking statutes. IS online free to read. APPLE would not tell you to contact law enforcement if it was not illegal. IF you do not want to file suit contact APPLE and demand they give the name of the persons of the device to law enforcement. GET the suit filed against JOHN DOE immediately for hundreds of thousands of dollars at least. DOCUMENT any symptoms of stress it caused you any medical records. SEND a strong message to this media and the public that they try that and they can be sued for alot of money. DONT accept this nonsense story there is nothing you can do. RUBBISH.

  • @ejonesss
    @ejonesss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    turning the device on and off?
    @apple if you are watching this please add a means that once the air tag is activated and is being monitored it is permanently activated.
    so once you lose your keys for example and once you start the device to find your lost keys it stays on and you have to remove the battery and buy a new air tag.
    that will prevent stalking by making it once the stalker starts the tracker it can not be turned off.
    or once you find your keys you hit the found option and the device permanently disables so you have to buy a new one .
    so if the stalker turns off the device like in this case then he permanently lose the ability to track until he buys a new air tag and plants it again by which point the victim is long gone.
