I rented Casa Azul about 10 years ago - lovely spot close everything. Traffic was loud at night and the ceiling fans couldn't keep up with the heat but, hey, it's Mexico. Best of luck!

What do you mean with “hey, it’s Mexico”. Sounds condescending and demeaning. Nobody is forcing you to go or live in Mexico. Many Expats are in Mexico precisely because it is so different from the USA.

@@Teporame Sorry, never saw this. We love Mexico. We also love the US, but we chose to move to Mexico. We often say "This is Mexico." It's not the US or Canada, so for anyone that expects things to work precisely the same as the northern countries they will be surprised. We spend a lot of time trying to improve our new home city, investing in saving street dogs and cats, and raising money and working on remodeling and rebuilding the homes of lower income families. I can definitely recommend an area, but depends on what you are looking for, and price. Give me more details and I can probably give a better answer. La Ropa has a great beach, but it's a bit from town and a little more expensive. La Madera is our favorite place, on the beach and walking distance, and a little cheaper. Centro has a beach, too, and cheap places to stay.

Yes, Zihuatanejo is a nice area and I never forget buying excellent coffee there in the Central Market. The weather is excellent and the beaches are nice - some a bit difficult to access. Good luck in your new home, but LOTS OF WORK TO DO!!!

We bought 2 1/2 years ago, so it's hard to say now. There are several realtor sites online with available properties, and that should give you a good idea of what homes, condos, and land are going for now. Best of luck!
