Thomasin was not asked enough questions for how insightful she is - from that first response she gave about jewish people and their decision to see or not see the film because of how often WWII films portray jewish people solely as victims I had so much respect for her & her intellect (which I wasn't previously aware of because SHE'S NOT EVER ASKED ENOUGH QUESTIONS)

I love hearing my New Zealand accent on the big screen. Makes me happy.

For some reason, I think her accent sounds more South African than Kiwi

@@RealmofGenghisKhan I think it's just more of a regional accent. I'm from Wellington and Aucklanders always think I sound foreign.

Thomasin is so lucky! To have Taika as "friend of a family". She knows him since she was a kid, and now she had a opportunity to work with him. Awesome! Girl, I'm so envy you ;)
It must be wonderful to know him in his "private time". He seems so cool man to be around, and hanging out. He must be some kind of cool uncle for her. I wish my parents have that kind of friends and connections :)

    • @NikstSWE
      @NikstSWE 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

@@Giovani8 I dont know. I have seen allot of people talk sh*t about movies where something isnt explained and when you explain that you are supposed to think for yourself what the thing might be or what a character meant when they did something they retort with a stupid "NAH! They were just lazy!", "Plothole!", "Bad writing!" and so on. A big chunk of the audience seem to feel like if its not explained in the movie, it didnt happen and if they dont like it, its lazy/bad writing. Which is infuriating, especially when those same people turn around and say that Hollywood dumbs allot of movies down.

This was easily my favorite film of 2019. The nuance that "Hitler" is JoJo and his dad makes a lot of sense.

The reason I hadn't watched JoJo Rabbit before was mixing National Socialism with a comedy. I refused to believe it could be watchable. Boy was I wrong. Now I'm trying to get the extended family to watch it and hitting the same resistance.

If you watch Taika’s acting in JoJo,
there are moments where he is angry and seems to be genuinely channeling Hitler, particularly in his arm movements.
The acting is incredible all the way around.

Love Waititi’s composure when the interviewer gets his films wrong. She called his Oscar-nominated short “Boy.” (It was “Two Cars, One Night.” “Boy” was a feature-length film.”). These gaffs happen, mis-speaks, etc. but he was kind in not correcting her.

I caught that, too. I love the fact that he remain completely composed, but you can see him look down at the floor for a little while like he’s sorting that out in his head.

Thank you, Stacey for a fantastic interview! Thanks to Tiaka, the crew and cast for on of the best World War II movies. As Tiaka has mentioned (and others), those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it (paraphrasing Santayana and Churchill).
We MUST reprise this theme for eternity.
Life is Beautiful - Benigni, Schindler's List - Spielberg, to name a couple, and now JoJo Rabbit. These films will help us remember and never forget. The rise of the Third Reich, the Nazis and Hitler must NEVER happen, again.
Check out Fascism: A Warning; a 2018 book about fascism by Madeleine Albright, published by HarperCollins.
If you haven't already done so, give the board game Secret Hitler a try. Gives a very cursory view into how Hitler and the Nazis gained power.
    Auf Wiedersehen!

Do you think that would have been justified? I believe the dacing was set up beautifully and executed awkward enough to keep the tone of the movie.
