You are amazing Im very new to watercolor 35 yrs away from art 😳 Your work and teaching is brilliant Thank you so much for sharing your talents ❤️❤️😂🌈🦋
@@katrinacrouch I love watercolors and I try to paint every week. I am addicted to flowers but I always have problem to give delicate and light look to my roses, so your butterfly gave me a big inspiration spirit🙂. Thank you very much!
This is stunning! And the tutorial is so helpful. It is great to watch you paint and hear you explain your process. Good to know the time and attention required to create such delicate beauty. Thank you.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful! I’m planning to create more tutorials in this style in 2020-a little more relaxed and slowed down (instead of my sped up videos), and sharing some tips along the way. So glad you enjoyed and took the time to encourage me-definitely send it my way if you try these butterflies!
I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
I just found you on YT and just REALLY love your style! Your voice and demeanor as you deliver this tutorial are spot on and encourage the viewer instead of intimidate! I love that you take your time explaining everything with us and making us feel so comfortable as we learn! I love to watercolor, but still consider myself a beginner and I have enjoyed this video! I will be subscribing to your channel and look forward to seeing your other videos! Thank you for sharing your love of this amazing medium with us helping us to grow in this art! Blessings
Oh that is the best review of my tutorials ever! Thank you so much for the encouragement-I’m thrilled that are enjoying them so far! Let me know if there is anything specific that you would like to see ☺️
I’m just so happy I found these. I know what I’m going to try tomorrow! First I have to learn how to draw so today is practice, practice, practice! Again I thank you for sharing. Being new is scary but you make it so much fun!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so very much for sharing your art with us. You’re a wonderful artist I love just watching your videos and your explanation of what you’re doing that really helps.
New subscriber and I am so excited! Your work is amazing and the tutorials are fun to watch and so easy to follow! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us all.
I love how you go slow. This helps me so much. In the very beginning, when you paint the pale blue background of the wings, is the paper wet, dry or damp? And when you are softening the black edges of the wings by using water and a tinge of pigment against the hard line, is that hard line dry? I’m new. I love this.
I generally paint wet on dry, so the paper is dry and the hard line is dry when I “massage” the edge to soften it. If I were to do it now I would soften those lines while it was still wet so that I don’t mess with the paper quality, but both ways work ☺️
I just recently found your channel and wow I have learned so much from watching just two of your watercolor videos, you’re such an awesome teacher! I just subscribed to your channel. Could you tell me what size Princeton Neptune round you are using here please? Thanks so much!!
Oh, thank you! I’ve been teaching “in person” for 8 years now-I’m so glad that it translates to video ☺️ It’s probably size 6, round. I’m default size! And the other brush is probably a 4 round
Blushed Design I love how you explain your techniques, this goes such a long way and I thank you so very much! I thought it looked like a size 6 but I wasn’t completely sure. Size 6 is my go to brush as well! I am definitely going to pick up this neptune brush, it’s been in my wishlist for sometime now. I own a lot of high end brushes, Kolinsky sables which hold water very well but I’m always experimenting with brushes and paper since I’m still finding my way with watercolor! Thanks again for your amazing teaching, it definitely shines through on video!! You rock!
Unfortunately, not without buying equipment! I film on my phone so that these tutorials can stay free ☺️ TH-cam doesn’t pay the bills, but it fuels my teaching passion so I do it anyway
It’s still working for me, but if you can’t get it to work, this is a Mint Morpho butterfly, and a quick Google search should bring up a good example ❤️
This looked great while you were painting it, but why did you mirror the wings? The slight asymmetrical wings would look more organic. This looks photoshopped.
There are a few reasons for this: 1) I am a working professional illustrator, and time is money! If I take the extra time to create the second half of the illustration (when the first half turned out how I wanted it to), I not only lose money but also time with my family! 2) TH-cam is just a hobby-not a single one of my bills has been paid through TH-cam. But fulfills my love of teaching. I am thankful that I can still share knowledge with those who want to grow without sacrificing my family or job. I generally agree with you and prefer to have a little bit of imperfection in my artwork, but my client's don't usually care about that-they want a quality illustration, and if it's supposed to be symmetrical, then they want it to be symmetrical! So that's what I give to them :) Happy Painting!
They are listed in the description, but you can find all of the colors listed in this blog post too: www.blusheddesign.com/blog/realistic-watercolor-butterfly
Stunning! I’m struggling to find the reference photo when I click on it. It says that the pin is no longer available available. Is there another place that the reference photo would be?

It’s so pretty, I like it. But I can’t did the details as you!
It takes practice! Try a smaller, stiff brush and you might have more success-it’s a little more pencil-like that way
@@katrinacrouch Really thank you, I will try again
What sort and weight of paper do you use please?
I always use cotton paper for watercolor-this particular painting is cold press and 140lb (300gm)
It's a beautiful painting. I'll give this a try, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Let me know how yours turns out ❤️
Thanks
