  • Godzilla: Minus One has an insanely low budget of 15 million. That's less than one star actor makes in a Marvel film lmao
    Thanks for watching!

It’s worth saying that the budget was actually below 15 million

My movie of the last 30 years. Bird Man, The Artist, SpiderMan 2, King Kong 2004, Contact 1997 were very good. Godzilla Minus One was more like Seventh Samurai meets West Side Story. Toho made history.

Hollywood just needs to leave Godzilla alone. CLEARLY Japan knows how to handle THEIR creation. Minus One was a fucking blast!!

@@joshuacelani1857 lmao and? I’m saying Hollywood should STOP making Godzilla films because Japan is BETTER…. Idk wtf you’re talking about. Regardless if Japan is allowing Hollywood or not, they suck and can’t compare imo.

The budget for Godzilla -1 was the catering budget for any Hollywood studio.

As far as VFX are concerned, it probably helps that Yamazaki, the director, was also actively involved in the VFX.
As far as screenplay is concerned, Akira Kurosawa is known for stating: "If you want to make films, first write screenplays. It only costs a pencil and paper. " Whereas, Hollywood spends hundreds of millions on A-list actors and CGI with no compelling story whatsoever.
I hope this will give the major Hollywood studios a wake-up call -- better yet, let's boycott them for awhile until they get the message that they need to up their game and not lazily churn out the same junk with a feeling of entitlement that people are going to watch whatever they dump onto the screen.

Don't be fooled. Each one of the Legendary Godzilla films were $200 million apiece before tax rebates.

Well, how do you expect a wage increase with no cost increase? WAGES, IT GOES TO WAGES (mostly, there is also a lot of laundering via catering services). And then, with the wage increases, the corporate entity goes "oh. Well....profit margins need to grow or we're breaking the law haha" and cut post-production time to save money on those wages, leading to inferior products.

2:32 so like....155 million in Japan would be close to the equivalent of spending 1.5 billion in a place with higher pay and better working conditions for, say, animators. Who are already paid little enough in the USA, but literally fractions of that in Japan.

Sorry but as much as I loved this movie, the low budget should not be seen as an accomplishment. Because attendance is much lower in Japan than in American movies, Japanese studios like Toho are incentivized to keep the budgets low and often at the expense of the artists. Japan has very poor labor union laws especially in the entertainment industry, and these 'low budgets' are often at the expense of the cast and crew. It's been that way at least since the decline of Japanese cinema back in the 70s.

I really couldn't bring myself to like the movie. They made something significant with what money they had, but I couldn't find the story engaging. Like how it was stated that this movie didn't need godzilla, I felt like this was a period war drama guest starring godzilla.

I dont get the comparison with godzilla vs kongs budget you do know that the film has absolutely the best cgi thats also is ten times better then any of today's marvels cgi

I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure we should be celebrating how the producers of Godzilla Minus One underpaid and overworked the poor VFX artists that worked on the movie.

  • @Jane-oz7pp
    @Jane-oz7pp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's Japanese, that's why the budget is small. Post production teams in Japan are payed TERRIBLY. It's basically the same answer as to why ANYTHING is cheaper from one source - higher exploitation.

4:19 are you implying that Hollywood has actually ever been truly exceptional at making movies and not simply bankrolled by the US Military to provide a propaganda outlet? You shouldn't be surprised that non-hollywood movies are better, they often have been.

Remember when Godzilla vs Kong came out and people praised it for just getting to the point (the kaiju fights) and used it as an example of what modern mcu movies lacked? Now minus one comes out and everyone is suddenly acting like it’s hot garbage? No. Godzilla is Both a serious and goofy character. He has been since the Showa era. As an actual kaiju fan please stop this elitism bs I’m tired of it.
Both are good for different reasons. Stop crying over having 2 cakes.
Y’all would literally melt if you watched final wars.

    I like Godzilla MO... but
    DESTROYS Lazy Hollywood?
    AHAHAHAHAHAH!
damn but you can't say anything else, all videos are always the same with the same illogical title.
You TH-camrs are more lazy than Hollywood.
PS1. A film that doesn't reach the top 10 at the box office doesn't destroy anything, in fact it won't even be taken as an example.
PS2. New Godzilla Toho films are released only thanks to the success of the Monsterverse and Hollywood.
You fans are waging an illogical war when Toho actually has good relations with Hollywood.
    Grow up.
