I come to internet to look up my new self propelled Ryobi. I got it last summer & when I got it out to use for the first cut today. My blades are not spinning. And this thing was my daughters idea to get, it looked “cool” to her. But I wanted the GAS MOWER. I’m peeved about the purchase
The drive switch is not working! Can you tell me how to fix it? The switch is located on the upper handle. Note! There are left and right paddles on the handle. Thanks!
I have to say, I have a different Ryobi model, but the point comes down to, it's a fucking great mower, IF the idiot "probably demanded for California" dysfunctional "safety" bullshit were not so badly done. When people start having to cut out/disable "safety features" to make something WORK, the features have no purpose being there. They are not doing their jobs, and then they aren't there at all. The only switch that should be there of any import is either or both of 1 -- a 30 degree tilt cutoff -- if it's tiling at over 30 degrees, the motor should not activate 2 -- if anything causes the mower motor to stop (i.e., too much resistance due to something caught in the undercarriage) it should not restart until you press the button to start it again. Either or both of these would resolve the primary danger, of the mower restarting while tilted over to clear out blockage, catching your hand in the process.
Probably.... but I didnt want the same parts fixed by ryobi to have the same problem later on. This way issue is eliminated and imo its a better design now. Thanks!

You should name this one "Ryobi 40v Lawn Mower Power Issue Fix - UPDATE"
Wasn’t your Ryobi still in warranty? I have a 5 year warranty on my Ryobi. It is on its second year no problem yet.
