You South Africans making derogatory comments here should understand the simple fact that being adventurous is not a bad thing. Nigerians are adventurous. They love to take risks and so are willing to embark on journies of new discovery. It takes courage and resources too. If you are not able to march Nigerians in all these qualities and more, don't hate them for coming to South Africa. If Nigerians are everywhere on this earth and thriving why should you be troubled seeing them in South Africa, a country on their own continent. You can't help it men.

“Adventurous” , no, they are leaving their country enmass not for “adventure” but because of survival. They leave to look and seek opportunities elsewhere because their own country doesn’t offer them that. Some of even flee, and we know this because they don’t go back home after. Unlike SAns. There’s a difference between travel and feeling the need to leave so you can have better. Engage honestly.

@seektruth5750 The good Nigerians are making a difference in America and Europe. It is said that the most educated groups of people in Europe and America are Nigerians. Nigerians run hospitals in America, not to mention engineering. When they bad, they bad, and when they good, they good.

And we don’t want to match Nigeria, you always overestimate yourselves. SAns are moving at our own pace, imagine the audacity of claiming to strive in other countries instead of that being in your own country, embarrassing. “It takes a lot of resources to do so”? To leave your country? Yes, we know, we have seen how you literally use all your savings and even sell I’m your houses to try and start a new life in the west, that right there is desperation, do better.

South Africans are very welcoming and we love our sister and brothers from Africa. I think we have been disappointed by the shortcomings of our new government and we tend to vent our anger sometimes at foreigners. Also some foreigners come here with nefarious intends, like drugs, human trafficking and all that. Otherwise we are a loving people and very good people.

Nigerians need to understand we sacrificed a lot for this freedom we have whilst you were comfortable in your countries. You can't expect us to compete for resources with people who only care about what they can benefit from South Africa. We believe everyone should fight to improve their own countries instead of forcing yourself on people who liberated the country who you now call lazy. Let's see how well educated and intelligent you are by improving Nigeria. This entitlement to other people's countries needs to stop. If Nigerians want to be accepted, then you must play an active role in exposing criminals amongst you. Otherwise, you'll be judged as a nation.

I'm talking people at the customs, the police officers and some other people.
U can accuse or stereotype people of a country to be criminals but these drugs being smuggled into the country did not fall from heaven. They pass thru the friggin borders!!!

Nigerians are the most visible and active ones. And whether there are other drug dealers or not, it’s not an excuse. Even the guest herself shifted blame to the naive kids who end up in drugs due to Nigerian drug dealers. Yes bad parenting may be an issue too but the Nigerian drug dealers are an even bigger issue. Drug dealing is a crime and the worst part is, they bring children into their nonsense.

The problem is, the targeted South African ere the already marginalized citizens. The poor of the poorest. It is a pity that Nigerians are added to one basket. We are interested in fixing the country and it's problems, the last thing SAns need is to be told they are lazy by their visitors. Obviously there are crazy SAns but majority they would not hate you just because you are a Nigerian.
In SA we believe success of an individual is dependent on the success of the Nation.
Let give it time . We can be called names, we know what we are doing and we will find victory.
Only then we will be in the position to call others to celebrate. For now we are still fighting and rebuilding. We will not from our problem to developed nations.

On the immigration and visa issue, its not solely because of prejudice (even though we know that the whole concept of Visas is inherently prejudicial).
As the lady mentioned, SA had open borders for a very long time and people would take advantage of that - i.e. people coming in on a visitor/ tourist visa and illegally stay and avoid authorities...Hence the stringent requirements now where you need to establish who you are and where you come from before being granted access to the country.
Then the comment on SA blaming foreigners for their children taking drugs and it being the fault of "bad parenting",etc. I think this is a very ignorant and insensitive take, which also contributes to why Nigerians are disliked.
If you are poor and disinfranchised in your country it is very easy to fall victim to substance abuse. To blame parents for illegal immigrants coming into their communities and selling drugs to their children and enticing their daughters into prostitution, then arrogantly pointing the finger at the victim is very reckless and the type of rhetoric that fuels the hatred South africans have in their hearts....its sad that even the nigerians we get along with and accept into our societies, will still habour these rightouesly indignant attitudes towards their hosts.
Lecturing your hosts on globalism whilst your countrymen have intolerance amongst their own is equally insulting.
Edit: just finished watching the vid and o commented before finishing the video...i think the ending is important, not everyone deserves to be painted with the same brush and relations between the two countries need to be mended and improved for the good of Africa

“Hold your Government accountable” Pot calling kettle. When in history have Nigerians ever held Nigerian government accountable?! My advise to you Nigerian women is to just stop talking about South Africans and focus on Nigeria. You’re causing yourselves to be disrespected if you keep this up (Mac G already did that). Just ✋

To do business in South Africa ...... You must have at 100 Million Rand to invest and be able to employ South Africans 60% of you workforce must be South African according to the latest Immigrations laws from the Dept. of Home Affiairs. Our government had made things so easy for foreigners especially from the continent but a lot of people spoiled the generosity and started doing a lot of illegal stuff like selling expired and fake products to naïve local people.

Living in a country without papers or a valid visa is ILLEGAL. Doesn’t matter how legal your job is or how educated you are. And if Nigerians are so skilled, I don’t understand why those skills can’t be utilized in Nigeria.

Oh yes, so what are PHD’s used for in Nigeria by the way? Yes generally we South Africans don’t have much interest to that degree yet. We don’t believe in talking philosophies of change and theories around a dinner table, we believe in the practical way of improving our society and not let it go to waste. Perhaps when we finally get the country where we need it, we will strive for these PHD’s. But they don’t seem to work for Nigeria at this point in time.

The comment about foreigners taking jobs. That’s mostly in the poorer communities and it is true….a lot of those blue collar jobs are taken by Zimbabweans because they are very cheap labour…way below the minimum wage. Also, if we are lazy…who has been building this land and economy since 1994? We work hard and we are hellbent on making sure that in our lifetime this economy will work for everyone…because the blood of our loved ones was spilt and it is still fresh. We have a lot of different types of communities and perhaps your understanding is based on where you are and who you are surrounded by.

Thank you my dear for doing this series. We love our country a lot. Forgive us, we come for everyone that has negative things to say about us. Many people love the country but wish we were not in it, the first ones being some of our white compatriots, and then many who suggest that we should go live in the countries they have fled from😂
We are very sensitive to criticism coming from non-locals, but we ourselves criticise ourselves and our leaders too and never stop complaining about things that aren’t working as we wish.
All the best. Will watch the South Korea video next. Hope to visit one day.

Do not over praise us because you are just causing unnecessary tension between South Africa and Nigeria
The innate weakness of a woman I know of is to overpraise anything she likes and thereafter discredit same when disappointed
You need to be notified that some of your comments when uttered out of excitement can disappoint your country
Be informed that Nigeria is one of the countries that played a critical role in liberating South Africa together with Zambia,Tanzania, and others
