- Hello Y'all! I am back and so excited to continue my "Project First Impressions!" Have you ever admired those glossy, richly colored front doors you see in pictures of houses in Holland, or France, or England?
Well, I have! I decided to try Farrow&Ball's full gloss paint and give my own front door the European treatment!
It was a joy to work with and I can't wait to share it all with you in the video.

It looks lovely .yes I agree you can paint around the hardware if you’re careful .Those vestibules ,if someone came to the door the maid would let them wait there till she asked the Lady of the house if she should receive them or take their card .They would have a little table and a dish for the cards to be put in till the maid showed them to the Lady ,so take note haha x

Your blogs are always so soothing, the door looks great. I Iive in a French house so the doors lift out of the hinge, no screws which is great for taking down to paint, thanks for sharing xx

Looks fabulous and the colour is lovely. Here is a tip to keep hinges protected and keep doors on while painting. Use a small artist paint brush and paint vaseline on the hindges and knobs. Paint the doors, easily wipe off the vaseline once paint is dry. Bonus...hindges are greased. Love your vestibule.

I like the door color, Kathleen. I chuckled at your family’s proclamation of no more saturated colors - I went to buy beige paint for a bench this week and came home with a deep blue green instead. I just couldn’t help myself. 🤷🏻♀️😉

Hilary, a couple years ago we painted our front door a “copper kettle” burnt orange. You did a fantastic job giving a cheery and fresh look. I love the high gloss finish.
Our HOA really limits the color choices, which requires the “green light” before any painting is done.

It really turned out wonderful. We are thinking of painting our door black. But it's always hard to take that leap when using a color so bold.
