Weissmies glacier tour 4017 m | Preparation for Mont Blanc and Dufourpeak

Weissmies is a four-thousand-meter peak in the gorgeous Pennine Alps in Swiss canton of Valais. Translated from the local dialect Weissmies means White Moss. We had chosen to climb it as a preparation for our following tours to Monte Blanc and Dufour - the highest Swiss peak (watch my video to see how we managed it :)
We departed from Zürich the night before and slept in the village of Saas Grund to start our tour early next morning.
Weissmies was a perfect mountain to choose for the acclimatisation because of its good accessibility so we could make a relatively easy and short one day tour.
The approach to the Glacier can be made via lift to the hut at 3,100 m, which is located virtually at the edge of the glacier. The ascent from there takes about 4 hours and involves slopes to 40 degrees and crevasses.
We managed the ascent really well, the biggest challenge for us though was the extreme sun radiation enhanced by snow reflection. We were very tired of the permanent sun exposure despite the sun protection and had something like a sunstroke after. So very important for you guys - always think of very good sun protection for literally EVERY part of your body!!!
Overall it was an unbelievable day with stunning views and loads of fun. I would recommend the Weissmies tour to everyone who wishes to make an easy four thousand tour in the Alps.
