  • UAVOS Inc, a Mountain View-based company introduces a new development - a system of operating aerial vehicles with a flexible wing for unmanned high-altitude satellites (HAPS) powered by solar energy.
    The use of new control algorithms and a fundamentally new approach to design allows:
    1. To control and change the shape of the aircraft wing;
    2. To reduce aircraft mass by 30% or more;
    3. To make wings of record-breaking large elongation and high aerodynamic characteristics, which allows to significantly expand the width of the non-stop applications of HAPS - from the equator to the poles.

    I'm Commander Norwood and this is my favorite UAV on TH-cam

    I guess this aircraft could have a Mass Effect

    The future might be slow high altitude HAPS UAV's combining solar power, wings and lighter than air gas. A slim dirigible with wings and solar panels. Infinite flight.

    Satellites are too far away. HAPS are 10x closer allowing much faster response. It’s all AOTA latency

    💣 😨💣 😨💣 😨💣 😨
    1) where is the storage of power - is this supposed to fly during the day only
    2) the solar power efficiency is lowered by non angled panels unless you are flying at equator during mid year
    3) further north or south of equator or at different seasons the total overall energy produced will drop by 20-60%
    4) daily change in position of sun will decrease the efficiency of power produced by cells - lack of storage prevents saving and use of energy during dips
    5) wing wobble will reduce directed sun light falling on aircraft
    please respond

      It's from the Mass Effect game series. This is the loading screen music for the first game.

      I know. It doesn't have a name then? Shazam doesn't help

      Apparently it's the extended galaxy map theme. I got the songs mixed up

    WHY they need this, when there are over 50.000 Satellites in "Space"?!!

      Наверное есть свои плюсы. Атмосфера защищает электронику от космического излучения, позволяет управлять. Возможности для разведки дополняются этим классом. Не нужны ракеты для запуска в космос.

      translation of the previous comment (according to google translate):
      Probably there are pluses. The atmosphere protects electronics from cosmic radiation, allows control. Exploration capabilities are complemented by this class. You don't need rockets to launch into space

      Different kinds of applications/operation. Not to mention reduced costs.

      Because there are no satellites in space. It is a con. ALL comms and data are under balloons and other HAP's
