@@PatrickMurphy-mv2zm Not on your life. Russ Ballard of Argent wrote it for Argent's 1970 debut release. It did not chart, then Three Dog Night released it and it in fact reached number 7 on Billboard, so THAT is the definitive version and Argent's version is the original.
Written by Russ Ballard, a former guitarist for Argent, he wrote so many songs, God Gave R&R To You, Since You've Been Gone, Winning, New York Groove, I Surrender, this and many others.
I seen the meters open for the stones in B.R around 76 /77 and they were great , and as usual billy preston (RIP) was on key boards for the stones and he did a great deal of his songs , if not for the the meters and Billy P . that concert would have sound like shit .
I won't ever leave while you want me to stay
Nothing you could do could turn me away
Hanging on anyway believing the things I say
Being a fool
You taken my life, so take my soul
That's what you said and I believed it all
I want to be with you long as you want me to
Don't go away
Ain't that what you say?
Ain't that what you say?
Ain't that what you say?
Liar, liar, liar
We don't need no night We don't need no day
If I ever leave while you want me to stay
You can believe in me, I won't be leaving
No I won't let you go
Ain't that what you say?
I know that's what you say
Ain't that what you say?
Liar, liar, liar
Liar, liar, liar
We don't need no night We don't need no day
If I ever leave while you want me to stay
You can believe in me, I won't be leaving
No I won't let you go, no
Ain't that what you say?
I know that's what you say
Ain't that what you say?
Liar, liar, liar
Liar, liar, liar
Why did you lie?
Ooh girl
Ooh girl, why did you lie to me, yeah?
Everybody
Everybody want me to see
Everybody but me yeah
Everybody but me
I don't need a lot
I don't need a lot
Yeah yeah hey hey girl
I don't want ya here
I don't I, I, I, I
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, well, well
Come on, come on, come on
I had a Hell of a time trying to transcribe the lyrics. LOL

NICE. This song has a few of my favorite 70's funk elements. Organ, bass and lots of hi-hat. Tsss
Best live shows from these guys.

It was a financial pleasure for Three Dog Night.Lots of folks did this, but these NOLA boys killed it.
Checkout The Meters
"I Need More Time" and let me know, if anything sounds familiar.Lots of rock guys "borrowed" from these cats.

The Meters got pulled from the Stones Tour after about six shows because they were killin' them.Very very few bands could follow these Bad Mfers.
Awesome.
Awesome version fuuunkaaaaay.
Wickaaard time! ^_^
...pants on fire.🔥
If I didn’t already know background, I could possibly be convinced the rhythm section were Siamese twins.
