What fascinates me about Blackbeard, and by extension the Caliban, is that they are exceptionally violent mechs built by a manufacturer that prioritizes mechs to have some manner of greater purpose. But in the case of these two frames? Violence is not a by-product, it is the purpose, the only purpose. To the company, they exist only to tick off numbers from a spreadsheet in the most efficient ways possible.
iirc the blackbeard was built to just operate on areas with too unstable conditions where the use of gunpowder would be worrysome. technically it still has that "blue collar vibes" because half of its license gear is repurposed tools from space scrapping but the caliban? nah that one was made with the sole purpose of making humans minced beef on the wall

I heard of a player that tried to use Black Thumb while their SEKHMET was on... Didnt end well for the scene but the GM let them respecc to prevent anymore accidents

Actually, the rules say thatSEKHMET must use all it's available actions and movements to move closer to the neares enemy and make melee attacks against it. Since BIFURCATE moves you closer to the target, it can be used against any non-adjacent enemy.
That might actually be the best option for your pilot's mental health. When the Enkidu is about to go hot you unplug partially and go. Alright Sekhy your turn have fun. So you can sit back, relax and watch the show. Not that that's in any way mentally healthy of course but it's a lot better than what the Enkidu normally does to you.

For as much Blackbeard is focused on Grappling, I prefer to use Synthetic Muscle Netting on other IPS-N frames such as Vlad or Zheng for a better effect. But Blackbeard's Lock/Kill Subsystem can server a different role, as a sort of support. After grappling an enemy, you can drag them away from their group to isolate them and have your own party deal the damage and kill them.
Well here's the funny thing, you can have up to 12 license levels, and each mech only constitutes a total of 3 levels max, so you can have both Amaluci and Seki. Personally, I'd recommend adding Blackbeard to Togugawa rather than the other way around.
Big fan of grappler builds in any system, really lets me live out my 'Just a lil guy' dream in literally any situation. Big mechs turning buildings into parking lots? Clamber over them like a little gremlin. Dragon burninating the village? Grab his ankles and don't let go. Cyberpsycho tearing through your friends? He just needs a hug Also, glad the beard is making it's much anticipated return, looks great on you dude
I knew nothing about lancer, at all. Until I watched your vid on Harrison armory, I haven’t been able to find any other creators who make lancer lore vids as fun and easy to understand as you do! Keep up the great work!
I love Blackbeard. Sekhmet, though, has the one issue of, once you activate it, you might as well drop out of the tabletop session because you no longer get to play lancer, your machine is playing lancer for you. Not that autobattling with a busted build isn't fun to watch, but generally when you put aside time to play the game, you actually want to play.

I mean, you the player are still directing it to some extent. You are picking out how it attacks in melee and the order of talents and all that. You aren't giving it over to the GM.
I started watching with your Spell a day series. I enjoy your turn to Lancer content, it's a system I had a mild interest in but never really saw anyone talk about. I'm definitely going to try and get my dnd group to run it.

You got only one thing wrong: SEKHMET can't attack with ranged weapons or make tech attacks, but it isn't forced to only attack with melee weapons, they just have priority: if there is an adjacent target but not available melee weapons, it can grapple, ram, or make an improvised attack. Also, SEKHMET is not forbidden from activating systems: if it has already moved and boosted, and there are no characters within threat, but there is still an action available, the rules do not prevent it from, say, throwing a grenade, because it doesn't count as an attack and so isn't a ranged attack.
Throw the cable winch system (IPS-N Lancaster LL1 system) on a Blackbeard loaded with Sekhmet and you can essentially leash your melee happy eldritch ai to your enemy of choice. Plus more spiderman climbing capabilities.
LOVE THE EVEREST STAT COMPARISON, Getting a feel for the numbers and whats a lot and whats not when getting into a system is hard, this will be very handy to new players :D
It is one of the unsung benefits of a flat starting stat line. You can see where different chassis sit in comparison. Happy this will help, cause I know I certainly would have liked a arrow comparison.

Considering that you pointed me towards Lancer, I wouldn’t mind if between episodes like these if you did episodes roleplaying cascades for particular factions (like one episode you give ideas for ISP-N cascades while another is about Anderson cascades)
After looking the Blackbeard over, I wonder if the deign team were pirates themselves. You have a CQB focused naval chassis - good for boarding , increased strength - good for carrying loot in a smash and grab - A grapple for getting to loot - and stealing chassis pilot and all. And finnaly with a NHP system that benefits from being reckless and out numbered as you want to be away from friendlies when you unleash the murderous paracasual pirate-catgirl - like pirates often are. Seems like either they researched pirates heavily and tried to out piratethe pirates or just hired some. Also I know what my next pilot would be.

I love Blackbeard. Sekhmet, though, has the one issue of, once you activate it, you might as well drop out of the tabletop session because you no longer get to play lancer, your machine is playing lancer for you.
Not that autobattling with a busted build isn't fun to watch, but generally when you put aside time to play the game, you actually want to play.

"well, there's barely any chance of us coming out of here alive, so let's do as much damage as possible."
I mean, you the player are still directing it to some extent. You are picking out how it attacks in melee and the order of talents and all that. You aren't giving it over to the GM.

I started watching with your Spell a day series. I enjoy your turn to Lancer content, it's a system I had a mild interest in but never really saw anyone talk about. I'm definitely going to try and get my dnd group to run it.

You got only one thing wrong: SEKHMET can't attack with ranged weapons or make tech attacks, but it isn't forced to only attack with melee weapons, they just have priority: if there is an adjacent target but not available melee weapons, it can grapple, ram, or make an improvised attack.
Also, SEKHMET is not forbidden from activating systems: if it has already moved and boosted, and there are no characters within threat, but there is still an action available, the rules do not prevent it from, say, throwing a grenade, because it doesn't count as an attack and so isn't a ranged attack.
Remeber! Throwing a melee weapon is NOT a ranged attack, which lets Sekky hit at range.
IPS-N heard there was a pirate issue and immediately just went "Alright, send an exterminator."

Throw the cable winch system (IPS-N Lancaster LL1 system) on a Blackbeard loaded with Sekhmet and you can essentially leash your melee happy eldritch ai to your enemy of choice. Plus more spiderman climbing capabilities.
Friend of mine learned the hard way not to combo Blackthumb and Sekhmet
LOVE THE EVEREST STAT COMPARISON, Getting a feel for the numbers and whats a lot and whats not when getting into a system is hard, this will be very handy to new players :D
It is one of the unsung benefits of a flat starting stat line. You can see where different chassis sit in comparison. Happy this will help, cause I know I certainly would have liked a arrow comparison.

the mental image of a sekhmet nhp that was installed on to a sniping focused mech and figured out the methods would be kinda funny. you press a button and the mech starts going fucking crazy with reload speed on a giant long range rifle

Considering that you pointed me towards Lancer, I wouldn’t mind if between episodes like these if you did episodes roleplaying cascades for particular factions (like one episode you give ideas for ISP-N cascades while another is about Anderson cascades)
After looking the Blackbeard over, I wonder if the deign team were pirates themselves.
You have a CQB focused naval chassis - good for boarding ,
increased strength - good for carrying loot in a smash and grab -
A grapple for getting to loot - and stealing chassis pilot and all.
And finnaly with a NHP system that benefits from being reckless and out numbered as you want to be away from friendlies when you unleash the murderous paracasual pirate-catgirl - like pirates often are.
Seems like either they researched pirates heavily and tried to out piratethe pirates or just hired some. Also I know what my next pilot would be.

Just a clarification cause I got dum dum ears, are you talking about doing mech alphabetically *per manufactures* or just *alphabetical in general*, cause I would love to see you bounce between different manufactures just to show how different they are to each other as the series progress
I will be going through the manufacturers first, then the core book mechs in alphabetical as presented in the core book and comp/con. Next license will be SSC and Black Witch, then Horus Balor, etc.
