Hello Jenna! I always travel with one change of clothes in my carry on! Spills can happen while on the plane, Delays on stop overs, delayed main luggage at your destination.

As far as packing goes, all I need is one checked bag and one carry-on, and oh yeah... ALWAYS CARRY A PASSPORT!!!

i've never been on a plane.. but i have been on two cruises and they were absolutely amazing
My scenarios:
Always have my carry-on suitcase and pillow around my neck. My DSLR and lenses are in here. Plus one of the below:
My 24-pocket SCOTTeVEST and is what I use. All cables are routed throughout the SCOTTeVEST pocket slots to Mophies in the back zipper pocket so that everything is continuously staying charged up. The front pockets contain sunglasses, ink pen, hand sanitizer, wet-wipes, my point-and-shoot camera, extra SD card, snacks, an empty water bottle, keys, $20 bill and loose change, portable game system, iPhone, wireless earbuds, iPad mini 4, boarding pass (if not electronic) and passport/ID. My wired earbuds are routed through collar. The SCOTTeVEST usually holds everything. Get to scanners, take off vest and put in one bin to pick up at the other end. If front pockets are not completely filled, I put a mophie on each side and put MacBook Pro in back pocket Lastly, my Nanuk 920 Mavic hardcase with all accessories. It fits under plane seat.
Or I have a backpack with me like you if I don't take the Mavic. It contains the MacBook Pro and anything else that did not fit in suitcase.

A easy solution for your neck pillow if you don’t want to where it you can attach it to the handle of your suitcase and tie it

No full sized tripod?
I took my tripod as carry-on once. The ticket agent gave me the all clear, I got through passport control and at the second security screening they were waiting for me. Someone had called ahead and told security to grab me because the tripod was considered too long to be transported as carry-on. Weird feeling getting nabbed like that.

Have you ever tried those inflatable neck pillows? Or you have and you don't like them. I have one that has a large air in/outlet for easy inflation.
Jenna, if you take that blue blanket with you, that one with a deep pocket in front, you are likely to be dragged off the plane. And that sleeping pillow around your neck, you better start walking or biking to NY right now. And all of those lithium phones, you will never pass TSA. Don't even attempt.

Hmm, If I see this, my first impression is that you cant enjoy the destination. You will only worry about the stuff. I found out that I can live only with carry-on and less stuff I take is better. Last time I even left the ipad home and took only the iphone and that was it. But of course depends on what you wanna do. If you have to do the video than I would take camera and drone (if I ever have one :-) and maybe some small laptop or ipad. Nothing more. Less is better.
