    Good lord. As a casual cast iron enthusiast I'm again blown away watching my 5th cast iron chaos video. I love the passion and knowledge in the videos. For all the minuses on TH-cam, this Is a decided plus. Looking forward to more videos that may help me trace the source of my "found" pan! Good on you sir, well done.

    Yes Lodge, please do it. People will love it and even if you can just break even on such a run the good will and "free advertisement" would eventually pay for it's self in more sales. Just my opinion. Great video. Thanks.

    Very nice video. Loved the "sold like wildfire." hahaha
    A few years ago I found the 90s bass lodge pan at an antique store for $10. Just loved the design and couldn't pass it up. Had no idea of value. Last year I found the newer Bear pan at TJ Maxx for $18. Didn't need it, but it was amongst reg ones and same price. Figured it would make a nice gift.

    Just ordered the Buffalo skillet greeting from Sweden and yes we have our own brands and yes as a Dutch a dutch oven makes sense like the brand Combekk Dutch ovens.
    But couldn't resist that buffalo spirit in my food.

      $15 is very cheap for that skillet. I have it too as I thought it was neat and a beauty. Wouldn't guess Walmart would have carried it.

    Buy 'em if you like them. Limited edition "collector" items have always been unstable propositions. I'll stay with well-made, usable items, and leave the Beanie Babies and fads to the memory of my mom!

    Eric, I am a member of the FB cast iron cooking group.... and I would L O V E to buy a FB themed pan even at 60$..... can we start a survey to see if we can get this to actually happen? I can't imagine we don't have enough members to come up with 1000 sales??

    • @castironchaos
      @castironchaos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is the actual logistics would need to be handled by someone...namely the group moderators. And who among them has the storage space to store 1,000 cast iron skillets? I certainly don't. :)

    • @jdhiv4
      @jdhiv4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@castironchaos What about having somebody trustworthy in the group take the $60price as a deposit and then wait until we'd have a 1000 skillets "sold" and may be lodge could just mail them to us directly.. Or how else could shipping actually be taken care of?... I would pay more if they were just going to ship it out to me directly as an individual! Thoughts?

    • @jdhiv4
      @jdhiv4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@castironchaos And also couldn't the deliveries maybe go to a number of different places so no one single moderator would have to hold on to 1000 skillets? Maybe they could be shipped to a person's local Walmart for pick up?

    • @castironchaos
      @castironchaos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with online projects like this are that everyone *loves* the idea, but they always want *someone else* to do it. Who would organize the fundraising? Who would pay for shipping the pans? Who would arrange for storage of the pans? Who would try to deal with people who say they would pay their share, but don't? ("We've had a family emergency," or they just disappear and are never heard from again)? The moderators of the group. However, the moderators are doing this on a volunteer basis, because they have their own families, their own problems and their own lives to worry about. I live in a small apartment and work full time myself, and I have no capability to handle a project like that. And I am not going to delegate this to the other moderators, for exactly the reasons stated here.

    I’ve got the Camp Chef Lewis and Clark set in the metal box, I want to sell it. What’s an average price these sets sell for?

    • @castironchaos
      @castironchaos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would consider a fair price to be about 1/4 to 1/3 what it's being offered for on eBay. Not only that piece, any piece of vintage cast iron in general. :)

    What are the white pipes in your living room?

    • @castironchaos
      @castironchaos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part of the sprinkler system. The building upgraded the fire alarms and sprinklers a few years ago, and they installed those huge pipes in every apartment.

    Wow...someone actually asking for commentary. Haha!
    Lodge seems o be taking advantage of gold with hatsort of set up fee. I’m not a fan of anyone or anything who takes advantage.
    I think I may have one of the collector smileys from Cracker Barrel (or Cracker Butial as my young son used to call it...as well as Star Whores for Star Wars. Too young to pronounce correctly and it always came out as Star Whores!). But I’m not sure which one.
    I’d love to have one of the Buffalo Nickel ones because it appeals to me for sentimental reasons just as your Paul Revere skillet appeals to you.
    A Cast Iron Cooking group skillet would be wonderful but again, too expensive for its purpose. As a collectors item, maybe...but as something for a group, it should be made accessible to the group. A high price would make it inaccessible to me and many others. Bummer.

      Trump wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than a skillet made from solid gold, with his face on it: flashy, gaudy, out of the reach of us commoners, and ultimately no better for cooking than an everyday cast iron skillet.
