I was in love with this ride when I was 5, visiting WDW for the first time. I actually started watching Buzz Lightyear of Star Command afterwards, because it looked like the ride. I got a few of the toys, too. Buzz and Zurg. I heard the Zurg toy goes for hella money, nowadays.
This ride strangely reminds me of an obscure Cartoon Network character.... Swayzak from Toonami anyone know him? I saw him on TV when I was 13 and thought "he looks like Zurg"
A Tip for the ride to get the most Points: So I discovered this when I went on the ride: So when you enter the room when you start to enter Zurg's ship, immediately hit the robot arm when you enter. It's a hard shot, but somehow I shot it first time. It will give you 10000 points.
i also like how you can see what targets are worth the most points (always aim for diamond and triangles)(fun fact: the one in Paris is the same as the one in California)
Zurg sounds dumb in the DL version. I only saw his movie once and that was 15+ years ago, but I remember him sounding like Moltar. Him in the DL version sounds like an Injustice character (Grundy IIRC)
personally i think the ride mechanics for Buzz Lightyear are better considering u can manually control your own ride vehicle, not to mention it's harder to hit individual targets here than entire aliens like in men in black
Funny story about that: Martha saw the first Toy Story in 1995, and she wondered, "Why don't MY toys come to life in front of me??" when Woody did it in front of Sid.
it's a good ride.... but I prefer If You Had Wings. They should bring an updated version of If You Had Wings and send Buzz over to Studios. The track is the same track that If You Had Wings used.

This ride was built a year before Toy Story 2 Came out on November 24th 1999, which explains the Zurg character.
