The Cursed Empress Of Russia

  • Even during her glory years, Empress Maria Alexandrovna was something like a ghost walking the halls of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. As frail as she was beautiful, the haunting royal often hid from balls and other official events, preferring to let her boisterous, domineering husband take the spotlight. But behind closed doors, Maria kept painful secrets.

I am going to do this. I just watched the Shirley Temple video you posted from about 5 days ago and the "comments were turned off". all I want to say is that Shirley Temple Black was the most gracious, moral, good, and the sweetest person and to have had to go thru the "Holly-weird pedo nightmare" over and over with grown adult men while still a child and survive it intact is amazing. her own mother wouldn't listen to her and her father stole millions of her money instead of putting it into a trust for her - so she basically, had no one. she grew up and became this even stronger, still amazing, most gracious and forgiving woman who became our UN ambassador. no one, but no one can hold a candle to this little girl who stood up, did not "go along to get along" and yet, stayed fully gracious and lovely even as an adult.
I just had to come here to say this since we "are not allowed" to make comments on that video. God bless Shirley, may she rest in peace.
If you have not seen it yet, I heartily recommend it, she was waaaaaaaaay ahead of her time in the "me too" movement and she didn't "go along"....I am in AWE.
thanks for showing us that video about Shirley Temple Black.
Great woman, great human being. RIP sweetie❤, great example of how to be.

it could be YT, I was told by a very popular youtuber that has his young sons on his show *it's on nature/camping, etc. and the comments are always turned off due to the weirdos who "love" kids. sick but true. I watch anyway and guess what, I let my opinion be known beneath another video, who cares? Shirley Temple was a truly good person ~ but there ARE a lot of sickos
out there and it's due to that segment of the population that drools and makes lewd comments, I understand. that youtuber I mentioned said it was gross what they want to say about his young boys so he always keeps them turned OFF. sick world in many ways.

Just that she blessed the illegitimate children of her husband.....what a great and lively soul!!
That he only lived a year longer than she? Some small compensation....she was likely admired by her people. Certainly marias kids made the new wife's life uncomfortable?
Wonder what happened to the new wife and family after her husband was killed?

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse...and worse...and worse, it did. *Empress Maria's story was a fairy tale WITHOUT THE HAPPY ENDING.* Alexander did wait till the grieving period expired before remarrying. *WHAT DID SHE TELL HIM as she lay dying?* She forgave him, asked to meet his other children, and advised him to marry the woman he now loved. She wanted them all to be happy. That was her dying gift.

Thank you for telling of the life of this great and tragic lady. A story about Her Late Imperial Majesty. On a visit to Russia from Darmstadt, the future Empress Alexandra accompanied her father Grand Duke Louis. She met Empress Maria whom turned to a maid and said, Bow to this girl for one day she will become your Empress. Obviously Her Late Imperial Majesty had a clairvoyance about her.

They were all but cut out after the Tsar's death. However, it seems that Alexander III did have some regard for her and provided them with a house and money. There was a catch though, they were never to be seen at Court or at family functions. However, and interestingly enough, Alexander III kept in touch with his step-mother.

  • @sifridbassoon
    @sifridbassoon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

OK, this is going to be a long one...
Wow. So many extra things to say:
I had no idea that her life in Russia was so similar to her great daughter-in-law (is that even a word?) Alexandra of Hesse, who married her grandson Nicholas II. Alexandra was also shy and disliked the spotlight. She was rarely seen in public and was disliked by most of the court, who thought her smug, arrogant and disapproving. She also gave birth to four daughters in quick successon before finally giving birth to a boy, Alexei. Unfortunately, she passed on the gene for hemophilia which she had inherited from Queen Victoria. The series of quick pregnancies also took a tole on Alexandra's health.
It's ironic that Maria's Mother-in-law thought that Maria wasn't noble enough to marry into the Romanov family, especially since it was widely believed that the father of Catherine the Great's son Paul was not her husband Peter III but instead was one of Catherine's lovers, which would mean that beginning with Paul I, there was no actual Romanov blood in the Romanov royal line.
Maria's and Alexander's second son (unfortunately also named Alexander) was scandalized by his father's behavior and treatment of his mother and harbored negative feelings toward Princess Dolgorukova, even though the Dolgoruky family was an old and distinguished Russian family dating from the time of Ivan the Great. After Alexander's death, went to live in Paris.
Interesting fact: Russian names have three parts: 1. First name, 2. Father's name, and 3. Family name, so Maria's husband's name was Alexander Nicholaievich (son of Nicholas) Romanov. But when a non-Russian woman married into a Russian family, there was
no Russian father whose name could be used. In these cases, a dummy father name was used, typically Feodor (meaning Theodore). This is why all these Empress' names have Feodorovna. So after marrying Alexander, Maria's name was Maria Feodorovna Romanova.

He supported Lincoln in the American Civil War, in him he saw a kindred spirit. He drafted a constitution for Russia which he was about to unveil when he was assassinated. He intended to end autocracy, turning Russia into a modern constitutional monarchy on the western model. Had he lived long enough to implement these reforms Russia might not be where it is today. Sadly, the reactionary policies of his successors Alexander III and Nicholas II made revolution almost inevitable. As for his private life, he was deeply flawed, we should judge him by the standards of his time and class, not our own.

Seems like he had a nasty kink of sexual attraction to little girls. Ugh, what women in the past had to live through. This Empress was a strong woman in heart, loving a child, dispite the circumstances of birth and being used as a weapon to hurt her, that is Grace. A woman I will forever consider a Model of Feminine Courage and Grace in loss and betrayal. Empress Marie was an intelligent person who made the best of whatever life handed her. She took the high road of making her life meaningful. Still loving and forgiving the man who betrayed her, wanting the best for him. That is , a Lady of Distinction.
