- This is the new 2024 Mercedes C63 AMG Performance with a 4 cylinder turbo engine and hybrid tech making a combined 670hp and 752 lbs torque. But even though it's the most powerful C63 ever it doesn't feel like one. Here are my first impressions of driving it.

If Mercedes decide to go with a 6-cylinder a few people would have rolled their eyes. Dropping to 4 from 8 is a failure. Then charging over $100k for a 4-cylinder is absurd.
They messed up big time.
Let's just say in the parallel universe the C63 did get the inline 6 people still be ungrateful wanting an V8
but it has formula 1 technology in it 🤢 😂. Mercedes went down the hill with this decision
@@Ben_Z33 That is true, but majority of people would be fine with it. Mercedes already has 6-cylinders, BMW, Alfa Romeo, and Audi all have great performing 6-cylinders.

I work at the #1 Mercedes dealership in the northeast. We have 4 that have been sitting for nearly 2 months… none have even been test driven 😭

They could have at least went with a Inline 6 powertrain if they weren't going to offer a V8, but for that price with a 4-banger in it..... is a lot to ask for a luxury performance car.

As a previous owner of a 2020 C63S, this current model has a fake engine sound filtering through the front cabin speakers similar to the BMWs. In America, there has been a huge backlash as sale numbers for the current C63 are low. Most AMG enthusiasts don't want a 4 cylinder engine. Let's hope that the new CLE63 is an 8 cylinder. Thanks for the upload.
I would. I live in Australia, over here we get the A45S. Absolute weapon of a hatchback. This engine works so well in that car (seriously, it does!) In a C-class though... not so much.
Bmw doesnt have fake engine sound. Theyve got a mic near the exhaust and filter that into the cabine. But its your real engine sound.
@questionyourself718 Be as it may, this setup is similar to the Porsche 911, where a tube feeds engine sound into the rear cabin. Also, with the current Mercedes-AMG C63 front speakers. However, it sounds good inside the cabin, but the sound outside is way quieter. The sound inside should sound the same as the outside. Therefore, cabin sound is amplified, hence, fake.

C63 used to be raw and rowdy, which is what made it so much fun. This is a fast car that drives well, but it is no longer raw nor rowdy, and therefore is nowhere near as fun.
i thought the whole point of C63 was that they put that big v8 in the small c class. They should bring Evolution back and put that 400 hp 4 cyl into Evo.
Completely agree with you. I have a CLA45s and it’s an awesome car with the 4cylinder and it suits it but not in a C63, no way! I just bought an Aston Martin vantage with the AMG v8 and there is no comparison between the sound of the 4 cylinder and the V8. The V8 sound is so special and a C63 without it just makes no sense.

People haven’t bought muscle cars or supercars because they want to go fast. They bought them for the emotion of the engine and all the drama surrounding it. The speed and performance is important but secondary to the experience.
Very well put. If going fast is all a car can do you’ll get bored very quickly.

I don't care about speed, it's about the torque and feel while driving.

I would have recommended keeping your previous vehicle. Contemporary automobiles tend to be somewhat underwhelming.
Heard Mercedes is going to ditch this engine and go back to the V8. Sales probably are slow, and resale value may be low due to this being a 4 cylinder. Still, it's an AMG, so it's going to be fast.

Could imagine so. You can get an M3 comp for the same or less and an M8 comp for slightly more.
And here’s me still wanting my 6.2 V8 W204 instead. Because it makes me smile every time I drive it and the noise from it is pure music!

If you want power you need a battery pack and an electric motor. Internal combustion is a dead man walking. Never in my lifetime did I think I could purchase a family sedan that would completely destroy almost any gasoline supercar. 🤷

Those don’t sound good for the most part,but at least there’s an aftermarket which are deep for modifying that engine which makes it forgivable, this one with the hybrid is gonna be a huge maintenance nightmare

Don't forget about the noises that comes in through the speakers don't get fooled by that in 100,000 for a 4-cylinder for that will buy the Civic Type R half the cost probably more fun
I drove the CLA35 and the fake sound vs. what's happening on the outside is confusing at least. The actual movements and the sound don't even match too well but the biggest downer is the sound becomes annoying very fast.
no one is talking about the performance. everyone is obsessed with the sound and engine size. but performance wise, it blows every single other c63 made in history, out of the water.

I've always been more into BMWs out of the german cars, but nothing beats the AMG V8 sound, its just beastly on another level

Mercedes is the master of diluting , making the C-cheap class front end look similar to the AMG GT
For those of us who have or had, as in my case, a W204 C63, these new super technological wonders definitely disappoint us. Surely they are efficient and would have lowered emissions standards, but these new Mercedes have taken away the excitement of a top-class thoroughbred.

I have a W205 that I've put 21k miles on and probably won't ever sell. I'm just going to end up garaging it in a couple of years when it's time for a new car. The V8 C class is sadly probably never coming back. There's a small part of me that wants to believe they'll drop another C63 Black Series or something with the V8 + hybrid 4matic, but that's a farfetched dream.
Time for a v12 c63 with a flame tune and loud exhaust wouln't that be nice
a hybrid 6 cyclinder turbo would have been interesting. porsche even turned having hybrid technology into a great feature - i'm not sure what went wrong at the mercedes factory but they seem to have lost their way. 4 cylinder turbo is fine for the lower trim but anyone buying the big bad wolf isn't going to compromise on the meat. it's like having a gourmet vegan burger. if you really wanted to eat a greasy cow, nothing will compare. lol
as a fan of the 45 series from amg i have to say i love it lol

Not a C63 but I've had a 4.4 V8 BMW for ages, recently decided to go down to a 2.0 for my next car just for better economy and cheaper tax etc. it's been 6 months and it's fine but I miss my V8 madly!

Couldnt agree more with this review of the car. Amazing car, well refined beautiful interior and insanely fast. If only they gave it a V8 that sounded like the W204 C63 and a "Classic" style Instrument cluster visual option.
Perfect daily car, issue is the price… Quartz watch charged at Automatic prices… Just does not make any sense. And yes, in Australia it’s a complete flop…

Just as you say, it sounds exactly CLA45. I have a 2014 CLA45 and it makes exactly that sound, pop and bangs, sure fun for a entry model, but with the c63 you should expect the growling/raw´er sound.

the new glc63s cupe is insane whit catless downpipes and stage 1 yes is not a v8 they should have done both platforms but for some reason they decided to do only one engine platform 2.0 , in my opinion it is still as exciting as the v8 I have tested both generations
I drove it yesterday and i can only sit here and say that unfortunately i dont have the money to buy it because i would definitely get it fuck the sound and everything the car has power speed handling beauty i mean it is just gorgeous deff worth more than 100k for sure
I have never owned a Mercedes, but have wanted to. I have had a 2001 Audi S8, a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V, and currently own a 2013 Audi S5 Cabriolet and a 2016 Corvette Z06. All were fun cars. The S5 is good for my wife. Quick enough but not too much power. The CTS-V was amazing, but the Z06 rocks. Even with the 4 cylinders, I like that C63. Sounds good and has impressive acceleration considering the weight. Thanks for the video!
Does the S5 have a stock exhaust? How does the supercharged V6 sound?
@@AnnoyedGlobe-sf9yo Yes. Stock exhaust. It "Braps" on upshifts when driving it hard. I love the sound. There is no supercharger whine...sad.

Calling a 4-cylinder AMG C63 is the ultimate middle finger to the legendary original. To me it's worse than putting an AMG badge on a CDI.
The car is nothig Mercedes engineers dreamed of, but they are forced to produce them to fit emission regulations.
I simply don't think this first gen so-called F1 tech is realible enough. I've already seen a lot of C43/63 owners around the world having issue with their car right after taking delivery

I agree. My GLA45 is a blast but I want a C63 to be just that.
The powertrain would def be way cooler if it wasnt in this car at its price. I feel bad for the dealership workers who are going to have people walk away because of it being a 4 cyl.

I know im gonna get hate for this, but I actually like this car. More hp, faster 0-60, more torque. To me, going fast is more important to how you sound doing it.

I’ll stick with my M135i. It has its quirks, but it has 300bhp and 330lbs ft of torque. It’s not crazy power but on British roads it’s enough to get me into and out of trouble.
As Slim Charles from the Wire said, "The thing about the old days, they the old days". Car enthusiasts as a collective are not good with change, but we have to work through the fact that this is the wave of the future. I think people would've been angry even if it was a 6-cylinder hybrid. With stricter emissions regulations, electrification is going to happen. Smaller engines are going to happen. We have to take this car for the engineering marvel that it is. Pulling that much power out of a 4 cylinder is something unheard of until now.

Not only that zur C63 is now a 4 banger, Most of its Sound comes from the speakers, it has even a speaker on the outside for Sound 😂
