Does anybody actually think about how a bike is made the way it is for a reason. "Oh it's too heavy, hmm it's power is in low rpm not high, its forks are too hard or too soft, it needs this and that to make it good" like did you ever think the brand made it that way for a reason not all the bikes need to be the exact same they're made differently for different types of riders
Why is the narrative so quiet?? I can hear the bikes great (thank you!!!) And the music isn't too overbearing...but then it drops out badly and I strain to hear the guy... But overall I really like the scope and depth of the shoot out guys. Keep it up!!
I know it might be difficult but they need to get a hold of all the factory bikes and compare them, to see where they all stand against each other after the factory touch
That would be cool, but I dont think that would really help someone decide which bike they should buy since most riders cant afford to kit out a bike to the factory level....
Andrew Johansen nobody can "afford" to kit a bike to factory level because you simply cant. custom made transmissions in europe magnesium engine cases Hrc titanium pegs Hrc clutch A lit fork etc. a lot of parts you just cant buy at all no matter how much you have
Garrett Gustafson Actually (And all the pros say this) the “factory” bikes are pretty much stock. The AMA doesn’t allow bikes to be as factory as you think. In fact years ago KTM had to figure out a way to increase the weight of their 450 because it was too light for AMA rules. Now you are correct in saying some parts can’t be bought by the public. But there are a ton of parts used by the factory teams that are basically identical.
hudscp yea tons of one off motor work magnesium engine cases custom build transmission isotropic treatment on the gears custom cams balanced crank bigger high compression piston and its close to stock. why do you think every privateer wants a factory ride cause he cant buy the good shit... use your head its not close to stock you must not race or watch the sport for years
Let's get real for just a Fn second, there is no way you could go wrong buying any of these beautiful machines. I'm not a loyalist to any brand and ride em all. Pick a bike you love and have fun - Anthony mac
Hey dumbass, I ride a Yamaha 450, I couldn’t care about what Suzuki has. But they’re all solid bikes. And someone like this goon constantly talking shit every video, is stupid as fuck. Embarrassment of the sport.
Everything on the husquvarna and Ktm is the same except little things and it’s tied in 2nd. It should have been tied for first with ktm depending on your riding style
Hydraulic clatch is a serious factor to be mentioned ??? Then why some of the best riders of the world (Tomac, Web, Barcia, etc etc) don't use it???? Villopoto said that he used it for few months but he never liked it and never felt comfortable with it.... I am not telling that hydraulic clutch is bad; it's more a matter of preference. Telling that hydraulic clutch is a reason to win the shootout is like telling i choose KTM because i like orange colour
I think it's because of the feel of the HC, there isn't much. With a cable, you can feel the pull when you're riding, not so with the HC. Imagine when you typed this, you didn't feel your fingers hitting the keyboard keys. That's similar to a HC.
HC is not a serious reason to choose a bike since is subjective. Thats my point. If they were saying about the brembo brakes, yes. This is a serious reason to choose a bike
YZF51 on my 2 stroke which doesnt have a hydraulic clutch you can feel the pull lol. the reason people like hydraulic clutches is cause they dont fade but unless your a clutch monster which on a four stroke you dont need a lot of clutch it doesnt matter tbh
Garrett Gustafson i agree with you. For me only clear advantages of KTM versus the other bikes is the brakes and the weight witch is not subjective and by the way is not mentioned. The HC is a matter of preference.
I like both 2 strokes and 4 strokes I ride 2017 ktm 300 xcand I love the 450 sxf they say different strokes for different fokes but I just like stroking it weather it 4 or 2 strokes
Yes, and that is why the never won the last couple of rounds SX, Outdoors and Rallye Dakar. Where ever they had to compete against the Austrian brands they were beaten by far. Not even with Roczen on board. You have a sharp sense of humor and you are 100% right of course... ;-)
A bike isn't going to win a supercross or motocross race. It's all about the rider. Not to mention the bikes that hit the tracks for the pro races are absolutely nothing like what you're going to get in a dealership.
Honda wastes money on riders because fuckwits like you are stupid enough to believe buying a bike will improve your minimal skills. A bike that is absolutely nothing like the bikes their teams are racing at that.
John Doe, the RC 125, 250 and 500 works bikes were far superior to the OW125, 250 & 500. Yamaha just stopped putting money into the bikes. It just shows how amazing Broc Glover was winning on the air cooled 490. Why do you think the riders went to Honda. Better bikes Lechien, RJ, Hannah, etc. (And I was a Yamaha guy).
In 2 years or less and I'm not allowed yet to say who BUT one of these manufacturers has built a bike that weighs in at 206.66 lbs and will be for sale to everyone!!! I know this because I work closely with. Someone 🍻 Can't wait!! Also, electric bikes are making LEAPS AND BOUNDS will a few of these manufacturers are actually taking a few steps BACKWARDS, LOL
Not sure how the Husky didn't get a solid 2nd place finish with all the praise MXA gave it...and this is coming from a Honda fan. With that said, I am glad my bike tied for 2nd anyway.
Shit are the people at Suzuki on crack? Why can’t they make a bike that actually competes with the others? I’m a huge Suzuki fan and it’s just disappointing to hear Suzuki get bashed all the time.
It's like KTM and husky are the only brands that really care about the consumer. Good on yamaha keeping the good sss suspension and not ruining a good thing at least they got that right.
Its funny that the things you hate about the kawi are actually good things. Not everyone wants a bike you have to rev the piss out of, especially if you are a heavy rider
Chris Cardoza I would race then stock besides getting the suspension set up for me and I might not even do that. I'm not a very fast racer though I'll admit
The Japanese manufacturers won’t waste their time on the weight of their bikes. They won’t compete against KTM on weight and I don’t think they ever will. Yamaha spends a little bit of time trying to hide their weight, so it might be 230+ pounds on paper but they’ll try and make it feel a little lighter. Same with Honda.
The 18 Kawasaki looks like a Buss in size compared to the rest. And i am still confused why Yamaha still goes with the reversed engine and even adding weight? Why do they simply dont want to dethrone KTM , they have all the tools and brains in Japan to do it, 2009 Yamaha yzf was my favorite by going 2010 they lost it all with their Idea, still better in 18 but yet not there, their reliability in a more lean package with a neutral position of the engine could be a potential winner in every shootout, why do they want to be different in a way that it makes customers except the hardcore Yamaha fans turn away? Asthetic the 2018 is decent but i like too se my gascap and refill without having to take anything of i also like to change my filter with easy acces as KTM, and i dont like the fussy noise ontop due to airbox location, and the front end feels heavy for me but the 9 year old yzf felt sharp and nimble. Honda of all the japanese brands felt like they want to fight with KTM the rest not really, that is my opinion :)
The Yamaha is still the most purchased 450 Motocross bike. Has been for years. KTM can’t stay competitive in sales compared to Yamaha simply due to the extra cost and more expensive parts. For a bike to be the same if not better than KTM in the reliability factor, and still have cheaper parts, is why KTM will never sell the same volume as Yamaha.
Air box is in an amazing location for ease of change have you ever tried to change an air filter on the new Yamaha tried to fill the gas or even rode the new bike they are so well balanced. The suspension on the other hand is amazing compared to the shitty air forks
jesse allen you clearly know nothing about dirt bikes then because I’ve owned Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and KTM bikes over the years and all of them were about equally reliable with the right maintenance. However in terms of power and handling KTM and Kawasaki take the win right now because they ARE the best bikes. It shouldn’t make you mad that a company is spending money on R&D and breaking the mold to enhance the sport. I’m happy KTM is the best, maybe the Japanese manufacturers will finally wake up.
That’s the best you’ve got?? The BTO rig caught fire because of a faulty battery not the bike itself. Lol learn your facts, and as for the rankings yeah KTM gets the podium because they are the only manufacturer right now developing new tech and constantly pushing to improve their design. I currently own a 450sxf and it has been an incredible bike. The handling is on point and the power curve is perfect. Mapped right the 450sxf is also the fastest 450 flat out 🤙🏼
Dirt Nasty look all I’m saying is I know tons of guys who’ve owned ktm and they didn’t like them at all plus I’ve always send photos of the forks ripped from the frame or them burnt down and it was only ktms
jesse allen well all I’m saying is until you’ve owned one and ridden it hard don’t base your opinion on misinformation. Ride one firsthand like I did and your doubts about why they’re the best will quickly fade.
So many mixed messages in this video. It’s a poorly done, but really outstanding overall. I really loved it, but only because is was boring and worse than any other shootout video.
bill smith what 1 kg of weight like that's going to do much. Everyone's like "oh electric starts dumb it's more weight it's too heavy" wtf you mean it's too heavy you can't handle 1kg of extra weight
You guys figured out the formula... The longer your videos are, the longer they keep people's attention and that should transfer to paper. I didn't know that the OEM's monetary compensation was part of their 2018 bike test.

KTM 450. Started on a Honda at age 9, then Yamaha age 13 to 38. Did some test work for them. Then Honda's, loved them. Had a 450 and 250F at the same time. Now i'm just a vet dude with a 450 KTM. One of my favorites for sure. For most of us it really doesn't matter.... pick your favorite color. Just like giving you young guns some crap. If you ride you're a brother:-) Ride On!
Garrett Gustafson, I think you are trying to be sarcastic? I think you misunderstood my comment. I mean that Decoster could see a problem with Suzukis future and it was a battle he knew he couldn't win so he left for KTM where his input would be appreciated. Why you bring up Honda and say what you said I don't know? You aren't good at articulating your thought and your ability to spell is suffering.
Great Job MXA...You are the Standard Bearer when comes to testing Motocross Bikes.(Props to StapoMx).......
I must admit, I’m typically not an MXA fan. Having said that, this video was very well done and the editing and videography was excellent!
They the #1 motocross mag for 30yrs!
Music too loud. Voice too low.
I am so gelous looking at all these sick bikes in a row
Hard to beat MXA! Also, the new Suzuki is just fine for 90% of riders/racers out there. Like KTM alot but no dealers nearby where I live.
KTM Action Magazine once again picks..................KTM! Shocker.
And in the 80's Honda was all the time. Than Yamaha...It's ciclacle.
No it’s atm cuz u have to keep giving them money
great job, straight to the point to address the normal complaints immediately, then just on to some highlights.
Wheres the 2018 250 2 stroke shootout?
The BBQ Jerk ktm wins already, there ya go
Please do a 300cc Enduro shootout!!!
shouldnt the yz be 3rd if honda and husky are tied for 2nd?
How does this guy have a job?
Does anybody actually think about how a bike is made the way it is for a reason. "Oh it's too heavy, hmm it's power is in low rpm not high, its forks are too hard or too soft, it needs this and that to make it good" like did you ever think the brand made it that way for a reason not all the bikes need to be the exact same they're made differently for different types of riders
What is the name of the song play on the video?
Why is the narrative so quiet?? I can hear the bikes great (thank you!!!) And the music isn't too overbearing...but then it drops out badly and I strain to hear the guy...
But overall I really like the scope and depth of the shoot out guys. Keep it up!!
My cousin goes and buys an 18 crf450r. That bike blew up on idle from a manufacturer defect and didn’t even make it off the lot.
AkaComeau damn, what caused it? He still keep it?
I know it might be difficult but they need to get a hold of all the factory bikes and compare them, to see where they all stand against each other after the factory touch

Y la 64 y la 65 cuales eran??
Gerardo Yacubowski beta y tm
Let's get real for just a Fn second, there is no way you could go wrong buying any of these beautiful machines. I'm not a loyalist to any brand and ride em all. Pick a bike you love and have fun - Anthony mac
All the mods invalidate these results
If its a tie you should say whos parts last longer and who wins that should be ahead of the other tied bike like if u agree
Agree. We all know the Honda is 20 pounds heavier give or take than the Husky... therefore 3rd. Come on MXA. Really a tie?
Great point. I think the 20lb difference should be a tie breaker lol
*spoiler* The Suzuki did not win
Wow, look at the jackass that makes a comment about Suzuki every video. Dude shut the fuck up, immature ass
Mxxmmx Xx ur just butthurt because you can't get over the fact that Suzuki sucks ass
Landre 357 i have a suzuki and a Honda tbh there all good no matter what and no im bot butthurt
Hey dumbass, I ride a Yamaha 450, I couldn’t care about what Suzuki has. But they’re all solid bikes. And someone like this goon constantly talking shit every video, is stupid as fuck. Embarrassment of the sport.
Mxxmmx Xx it's not stupid, it's pretty damn funny to me so fuck off
Everything on the husquvarna and Ktm is the same except little things and it’s tied in 2nd. It should have been tied for first with ktm depending on your riding style
The shootout is good as always with MXA, but I wish the music didn't suck.
The best shootout!
When twin bikes are portrayed as completely different... you know you are having the wool pulled over your eyes.
Hydraulic clatch is a serious factor to be mentioned ???
Then why some of the best riders of the world (Tomac, Web, Barcia, etc etc) don't use it????

Horrible no feel of a old style clutch, at least I think.
All the more to prove Eli Tomac is the man!
I like both 2 strokes and 4 strokes I ride 2017 ktm 300 xcand I love the 450 sxf they say different strokes for different fokes but I just like stroking it weather it 4 or 2 strokes
Honda will always be the superior brand when it comes to racing
"Honda will always be the superior brand when it comes to farm quads." - fixed ;)
Yes, and that is why the never won the last couple of rounds SX, Outdoors and Rallye Dakar. Where ever they had to compete against the Austrian brands they were beaten by far. Not even with Roczen on board. You have a sharp sense of humor and you are 100% right of course... ;-)

broncosfan1580 same here😩
Good Job MXA, now too bad you dont have JT there anymore to lend his expertise. Looks like hes happy with Mathes.
No buddy is not going to race these bikes stock so l still like yamahas better but that's just me..
Chris Cardoza I feel you like yz were it at and if you get that bike you can save so much because the Shocks are already amazing
Chris Cardoza I would race then stock besides getting the suspension set up for me and I might not even do that. I'm not a very fast racer though I'll admit
Best looking bike is the worst
lassi lahtiluoma more like the ugliest and outdated looking one is last.

They didn't put the beta rr 450 so that they could proclaim ktm the winner.
These 450's quoting almost 60hp but barely put 50 to the tire lol
my 2018 KX450 makes 54.3 to the rear tire confirmed on our dynojet.
Do you understand the concept of parasitic loss?
The 18 Kawasaki looks like a Buss in size compared to the rest. And i am still confused why Yamaha still goes with the reversed engine and even adding weight? The YZ 450F is the most purchased bike...? I would love to see a google link on that.
Air box is in an amazing location for ease of change have you ever tried to change an air filter on the new Yamaha tried to fill the gas or even rode the new bike they are so well balanced. The suspension on the other hand is amazing compared to the shitty air forks
i loved the 2009 yz450f
It makes me mad that ktm wins every year it is not the best or durable plus they’ll burn along with ur race rig😕

Dirt Nasty does that explain why the bto race rig burnt down oh and I do know a lot about bikes
That’s the best you’ve got?? The BTO rig caught fire because of a faulty battery not the bike itself. I have a hard time seeing how you could say the KTM is so great but then compare the husky to the honda
Whoever pays the most for advertisement wins everytime.
Shocker KTM Husky!
Damn right KTM rules !!
Have a tm in there next time
Blake Maitland lmao do you see TM in supercross or nationals? Then no.
Alan Pectol saw a couple in 125 dream race
Blake Maitland yes dreamrace. Main pro class. No
Alan Pectol the tm 4 stroke is not so good but the two stroke is better than the ktm and yz
Alan Pectol and tm isn’t in supercross because they don’t sell a lot in the usa
skip to the 4 minute mark to avoid all the music, crappy monologue etc..
That's odd the Honda is starting to look like a ktm
ktm crush same thing was said about their 2 stroke version looking like a MAico.....lol
It doesn’t matter about the bike it matters who rides it
So many mixed messages in this video. It’s a poorly done, but really outstanding overall. I really loved it, but only because is was boring and worse than any other shootout video.
This fucking music!!!
MXA is bs they pick ktm or husky every year because they’re sponsored by ktm
Does this narrator speak like a computer?
Kawasaki being the easiest? My dads 2016 350 SXF feels easier then my 250f Kawi cause the Kawasaki is super aggressive
What a shame about that new Suzuki. And it needs electric start which it will probably get next year and will up it's weight more.
bill smith what 1 kg of weight like that's going to do much. Everyone's like "oh electric starts dumb it's more weight it's too heavy" wtf you mean it's too heavy you can't handle 1kg of extra weight
Damn it. I'm tired of KTM winning. I like KTM but it's getting old seeing the same damn results in every shootout
Dude needs to slow down when he speaks...running words together
Honda is starting to copy KTM
ktm crush how is it copying it lol. Aluminum frame titanium gas tank different unique unicam engine its far from that Ktm and thats for the better
And that's totally okay.
Ever watch a ktm or husky go through whoops? Bad bike
I have 2 ktm they suck and parts are twice as much I will keep my money on blue
1090R another first
You guys figured out the formula... The longer your videos are, the longer they keep people's attention and that should transfer to paper. I'm calling one magazine out in particular, they couldn't tell their ass from a hole in the ground... Only bar bend for the biased shootout results would be bent on the tops of their ignorant heads. Peewee, Frenchy, and the peanut gallery just bumping their gums about BS talking points for why their results are so astonishingly skewed. I didn't know that the OEM's monetary compensation was part of their 2018 bike test.
Also: weight is all in your MIND 😆
I’m offended neither of these bikes have 69 on them , convenient real convenient
Spoiler HONDA IS THE BEST
If it was half the quality of a KTM, had more horsepower and had quality components... it might be up there. Come on Honda.... hydraulic clutch, and lose 20 freakin pounds.
Kirk Williams wich bike du u ride
KTM 450. Started on a Honda at age 9, then Yamaha age 13 to 38. Did some test work for them. Then Honda's, loved them. Had a 450 and 250F at the same time. Now i'm just a vet dude with a 450 KTM. Doesn't matter how long it took... They're top of the food chain now.
ktm is a pile of shit husky's are way better
KTM too goooooooood !
I love 4 strokes for the street.
letme guess. ktm wins and suzuki loses
The 18 fc should have been 2nd
I think DeCoster could see that Suzuki was going to be bad for years.
Tyler yup and Decoster new Honda was the best brand so he gave a lot of ideas to Ktm and Suzuki to make them something that could compete🧐
And - Que the stupid music and washout the bikes growl. Mediocre at best.
fake news..
There is no need to talk sh$t about other shoutout. The only thing flawed is MXA attitude.
michel martin they just nit pick every little thing wrong with the bikes in these "shootout reviews"
Ahhh once again KTM wayyyyyyyy ahead of the competition
Kirk Williams you are crazy bro Ktm just got good within the last 5 years
Seriously I could read and write better than him.
