It’ll never be lost on me how Stephen Fry and Natalie Portman are in a film about violent oppression, authoritarianism, an inability to move freely, non-secularism in government, and the reactions to this whilst both being huge zi0s.
The tv show host stated that he threw out the government approved script and wrote a new one that morning. So the government had no idea that this was what he was going to show on tv which is why they got so angry
I first was introduced to Roger Allam through the Speed Racer live action movie another greatly underrated movie with awesome energy and story telling. A great movie to react to Roger is a great villain
The fact that this film works as well if not better today than it did in 2005 is crazy. Ive always loved this film, but i love it even more now with how bad the governments got (US specifically in my case)
the chancellor was at home watching the show and was pissed that he broke his glass of warm milk. Gordon said before the show started he threw out the censored approved show and wrote a new one and played it knowing there would be consequences. Since this came out in like 2005 the story takes place in the 2020's. This movie you really have to pay attention to the dialogue.
I always wondered if V had meant right from the start to give Evey a speedrun at his life to kill her fear and give her understanding of Valerie's letter, or if he meant to just like, punish her in revenge at the start for betraying him and give her guilt, like 'these are the people you betrayed, these are the monsters you sided with'. But when Evey refused to give any information about V to what she thought were her captors even when they tortured her, V was impressed and flattered and admired her spirit and was like 'oh crap, wait, she actually deserves a chance to learn from Valerie, I feel like garbage and a monster because I'm seeing someone building themselves into a person who doesn't deserve to be tortured'. Like, I wondered if he watched her ready to die for him and fell in love with her then.
This was the first movie I saw in the theater that was, rather intense, & actually made me think more about things this movie projects such as society, government, deceptive practices in both, the way people even simply treat eachother, being your own person as well being part of a collective or group, etc., what "standing for something" rather truely means. So so many things. 😀 I was 17 at the time you know, perfect timing for this. 😆😆 Now around 20 years later, after all what happened between the years 05 & 25. Well, I'm sure there's a few people know what & how I feel. Fantastic movie. Fantastic story. All of it.
This movie taught me how to be free. Freedom is not free. Comfort is crippling. Fear in lies are shackles. Diversity is strength. I sound like Grant from Montypool (perspectively top tier film as well).
Roger Allam is the right wing tv presenter - he plays a dead funny pilot character, First Officer Douglas Richardson, in the Radio 4 comedy series called "Cabin Pressure" with Benedict Cumberbatch as his co-pilot. Well worth listening to.
Hugo Weavings performance in this movie is pretty much the opposite of Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs. Anthony Hopkins has extreme closeups to his face he only has his eyes and small facial movements to portray the character, no gestures and body composure at all. and here we have the opposite, no face at all but its all movement and gestures.
Scary how much this film relates to today's world in the UK. Especially during Covid. Endless Wars and now the tap Water is more contaminated than it's ever been.... I've always said that V needs to exist in today's world. The UK would benefit from him lol.
In doing all the experiments on V, they basically created a super(hero, villain). Kind of like what happened to Deadpool in the movie. Not as immortal, of course.

@@user-lv8us9dp8d Thanks for identifying yourself as a simp for authoritarianism and the removal of free speech. You are the kind of snitch that would love to work for dictators I guess.
@@NonokobeBarsam "simp for authoritarianism and the removal of free speech" lmfao people who pretend to be "anti-authroitarian" and virtue signal about "free,e peach" are massive hypocrites. You hate free speech when people use it to prove how horrible, violent, and actually authoritarian you and people like you are.
Clicked on this so fast! One of my favorite movies and so is The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), please react to that one too!
I don't want to admit how many watches it took me to realise and get the Steven Chip pun (but I am also not a native English speaker) so, nice one^^
the 2002 version of the Count of Monte Cristo is a great film, should def react to it.
Much recommend The Count of Monte Cristo from 2002
It’ll never be lost on me how Stephen Fry and Natalie Portman are in a film about violent oppression, authoritarianism, an inability to move freely, non-secularism in government, and the reactions to this whilst both being huge zi0s.
I love how aware and open minded you are Seb. Thanks for the reactions.
My eyes light up because this is my favorite movie!
Just Like The Start of The Movie Said "You Cannot be in Love With an Idea" so She They DID indeed Love Eachother.
I still find out funny that the chancellor is mr ollivander in Harry Potter 😆
i have very few traditions, but watching this film every 5th of november is one of them
30:20 "... shush girl" 😂😂😂
He went out like a true badass
28:25, this film is actually set in 2020 and the following years
Crazy that they could predict the future when they made this movie.
Except this never happened.
40:35 "Better to die standing than to live on your knees."
Roger Allam is the right wing tv presenter - he plays a dead funny pilot character, First Officer Douglas Richardson, in the Radio 4 comedy series called "Cabin Pressure" with Benedict Cumberbatch as his co-pilot. Well worth listening to.
Remember, Remember the 5th of November
I think I saw the other detective in the crowd and never noticed that.
I would never have imagined that you hadn't already seen this. Greatly looking forward to watching this reaction for sure.
The UK would benefit from him lol.
seb referencing utopia was not expected but is welcome
One my favourite movies of all time - works on so many levels and oooh still so relevant.
Thanks!
YOU'VE NEVER SEEN COUNT DE MONTE CRISTO!?! ADD IT TO THE LIST NOW!
In doing all the experiments on V, they basically created a super(hero, villain).
Kind of like what happened to Deadpool in the movie.
Not as immortal, of course.
