It would have been much easier simply to cancel the pole at -8 with a lead zero there and be left with a pole at the origin and a compensator pole location calculated to sum to - 180 degrees. The compensator pole would them be at - 14.55 with a K of 147.
If the type of compensator is not mentioned then you should check the requirements .. n you should know the theory behind the compensator... ie one of the key point of lead compensator is Bandwidth, Rise time, phase margin & velocity error coefficient is increased. For lag compensator Bandwidth is reduced, response becomes slower etc.
I have done the vedio upload it soon.. if it's angle s greater than 60 we will take it as two compensator in Cascade.Say it be 100.divide by two n take 50deg as the angle n proceed.. wen u draw de compensator take square of numerator and denominator
If it's bode plot chance of asking lead compensator is very less.... Check the phase margin if it's less than the required then use lag compensator... If it's negetive ya unstable use lead compensator....
