I'm Saint Lucian and although I do understand why some persons in the comment the comment section think this video was slightly offensive, I have to say that I am glad that you guys were honest and blunt about your experience on the island. To travel here (St. Lucia lol) via cruise ship can be a hassle because of the Ports and the fact that all the FUNN happens in the out-districts and with limited time, you may not have the authentic Lucian experience. I hope you do decide to come over for a vacation though. All in all, thanks for your honesty in this video. cheers x.

Yes I agree 100% and the fact that Nate decides to walk through that again with his big camera filming what really no one wants to see...... AGAIN. he kind of asked to be extra hassled, then he tells Kara to slow down when he should have had his camera on his side walking quickly through that crap and get to where they wanted to go. His OCD quest to shoot everything anywhere is really going to bite him in the ass one day, I hope he matures and learns a little in the future.

@@secreteobsession3584 YOU are the racist piece of Elephant SHIT! not them. Nowhere did either of them mention skin color! YOU put that into play. If St. Lucians were Purple, or whiter than they were, they would have had the same take, because all you saw on these young people were THEIR skin color! I have been to several Caribbean Islands and yes, some islanders are very VERY pushy, and down right scary to some people. I find, that when you treat people respectfully, don't act like you feel they are about to rape you, and realize they are poor and just want your money (legally of course) all goes fine. Your comments about them deciding they "like Black people after they ate" was So offensive. Seems to me that your Mommy & Daddy taught you early on to- "Hate Whitey". Respect goes BOTH ways, don't forget that, and leave skin color out, there was no need for that....disgusting.

I spent a week in St. Lucia in 2006 at the Body Holiday resort. It was wonderful. I found people to be delightful. Castries, where your ship docked, is probably the least attractive part of the island. Next time, visit the Pitons, Soufriere, and the interior!

I like the fact that you regrouped and then found a nice local market to visit and get lunch. Getting past the crush of vendors pursing tourists is something we all have to learn when we travel. Everyone has to make a living and the vendors can be entertaining is small doses, but they also can get in the way of learning the true character of a country. St. Lucia looks beautiful and fun. Your drone footage is gorgeous.

You guys did the right thing. You were not comfortable so you went back to your rooms, did some research and ended up with a good experience.
I am glad you met some of the locals who displayed what caribbean people are known for which is hospitality.
The persons around the cruise ships are working and hustling for a living and some might come across as aggressive but at the end of the day Tourism is the main provider of jobs in many of the caribbean countries.

Yaaay! I'm glad you got to visit my country. I haven't even watched the vlog and some comments below are disappointing. However, I've watched all your vlogs up until now and I know you guys are always honest about your experiences and it surely is a tool to learn that it's not all peachy. Don't change that because we all have our own experiences but ppl tend to forget theirs when it hits the heart (i.e.ppl tend to forget their own biases, stigmas, stereotypes). We are all human and we all get disconcerted one way or the other given the environment we are in. Now that;s said let me watch :-)

I remember when I went to St Lucia we had someone take us around the island for the day and we went to his local area, saw his house and had lunch at a locals place. When we drove past the cruise ship area which had a market opposite it he said that lots of people wait in that area for the ships and steal things (pick pockets).

Got married in St. Lucia in 93.. Our hotel (couples/ rendezvous) was fantastic in every aspect and private beach was second to none... Although I would advise anyone wanting to visit towns to do so with the knowledge that some places can.be quite dangerous.if you are not careful... Generally speaking the people are great but not well off.. So crime can be a factor...but organised trips out are probably best if new to this island.. We had a couple of excursions.. One to the pitons by boat and a night out in a group of 8 to a well known restaurant called the green parrot ( can't remember exact location) but our hotel had pretty much everything you needed from.jet skiing to water skiing to scuba diving- volleyball -tennis courts.. Bars - restaurants and nightly entertainment all inclusive..and kid free!!! Had a great time

Just catching this video today...a few years later lol...we spent a week at Sandals La Toc in St Lucia a couple of years ago...I had to have an emergency visit to a dentist I can not tell you how well we were treated and taken care of ...the resort got us a cab the driver walked us into the clinic...the clinic secretary walked us to a pharmacy and then she called the same cab back for us she literally put us into the cab and sent us on our way...the resort which is a Sandals property bring lots of money and jobs into the country we are sure when folks find out your from that resort they know to take care of you 100%...the resort upon our arrival day told us not to leave the resort without notifying them first...St Lucia has extreme to high crime warnings so be aware of where you go...our experience was amazing...well except for loosing 2 days to a tooth issue...Viv

Travel vlogs are for us to share our experiences. And this is what he did. There are some places where people like and don't like. It's being honest . Let's stop w the negativity threading down below.

Some people get so nervous when "island people" approach them to try and sell them something. That happens in every 3rd world country. It's how they make their living. It's all just part of the culture and the experience. 9 out of 10 they're not going to harm you. Dont worry about it and just enjoy everything else about the island.

@@robertjerald4931 True, but nothing more annoying than when someone (people on here) turn it into a Racial Issue. When Haitians...or Jamaicans (for example) are being VERY aggressive, I don't look at their skin color, for God's sake people on here need to stop stoking the fires of Racism. Racism stays alive and strong when People act like Racists BOTH ways. There was nothing wrong with this video, at all. My First experience with St. Kitts was terrible, people shoving baby monkeys all over us begging for 5 bucks, I finally bailed out and went back to my ship, I was on the Island for about 20 minutes. Now? it's my favorite stop. Was it because I met a few White Barmaids? NO!. It was the location, the food, the TIME I had. Many Blacks (like some on here) complain about Racism but they NEVER see themselves doing it. Shame.

@@PlainVidz sounds like you might need to follow your own advice, because I don't see anyone on here talking about race but you...

@@robertjerald4931 Black people generally don't see Racism unless white people are committing it. Maybe that's the reason you claim you can't read right now? That's my guess. Either that, or, you are a total moron, you pick.

@@PlainVidz Again, I scrolled through the comments and I dont see anyone complaining about race or racism but you.
Clearly its an internal issuse that you personally deal with. Why else would you go on a 5 min rant on you tube about black people out of nowhere, as well as name calling?
I don't know if this is the way you were raised but you might need to go to church because its definitly from the devil.

I have been back to St. Lucia 17 times and I can tell you the people are anything BUT aggressive or impolite. They are genuine and generous. I am offended by this video. Some tourists visit destinations and feel entitled and behave in condescending ways.
I'm Canadian and I am welcomed with open arms in pretty much all the destinations I visit because I understand I am in their home, THEIR turf and when you respect that you are respected in return.

Thanks for the heads up about people trying to sell you stuff being aggressive. We were warned before we went to Victoria Falls, but we were still surprised just how aggressive people were. I think it stresses me out more since I'm an introvert. I think someone needs to create a travel for guide for introverts some day.

When in St. Lucia we had gone on a tour that took us to the volcanos, and got to do the whole mud bath type experience, then took us to a waterfall, and had then taken us to a super super local restaurant that was actually in a woman's house where she had cooked for us.... Definitely seems like something you guys would have done! If you ever go back you NEED to try the banana flavored barbecue, it is so amazing that I had to buy a big container and bring it home with me.

I know this is an old video but I’m just catching up… many years ago ( 25 years ) I was in St Lucia with my two boys 8 weeks and 3 yrs and the locals were super friendly and great with the boys. We did notice that the attitude of most folks changed when the cruise ships were in port 😕. Only seemed interested in making money from the day visitors or just didn’t want to know you. We really did love our time on the island and would love to return one day.
