- What seems like a peaceful anchorage turns into absolute mayhem! Check it out guys....we couldn't believe it ourselves! We had made it to Greece! This has been one of our bucket list destinations....and we are beyond excited to be here! After checking in and getting our cruising log book we head over to our second island, Paxos. We have no clue how to stern to ...... but luckily we have some help. We enjoy hanging around the Port of Gaios and learn how to disentangle a fouled anchor.
Hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks for a look at Greece
Enjoyed the video, harbors are pretty entertaining, it’s amazing how difficult some people make out of the simple task of mooring.
Thanks William!
The fun of Greece in the summer, I was in Vathy and Simi in July August Skippering about the time you did the Corinth and kept missing you, hope you enjoyed the Med and are safe travels back to the Atlantic
Well done on helping at paxos. Having experienced some of that myself it’s nice to see someone who helps. If a few more people like you offered to help in these busy anchorages everyone would benefit. Unfortunately even sailing is still full of selfish idiots!
I realize I am kinda randomly asking but do anybody know a good site to stream new movies online?
@Emmitt Troy flixportal :D
@Emery Marcus Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I appreciate it !!
@Emmitt Troy you are welcome xD
Watched the whole video and was pleasantly entertained 🤘
Well come Greece 😉👍🤙
🇦🇺🤔 You two nervous ???, never.
Far out, that poor bloke. Good on you James for helping that’s the Aussie spirit. This place is just like Pittwater on a weekend and that’s not good !!!. , but the town with those lovely shops in the alleyways makes up for it. That bloke was certainly crazy 😜 but it takes all types. Enjoy yourselves & stay safe.🍺🍺👍
As for the screaming capt, someone should stealthily row over to his boat in middle of the night and toss a nut and washer on deck near the mast. It’ll drive him batty worrying about if the mast going to fall😝. Won’t change his temper but would be fun to do.
Mad Greeks... LOL... Cruising is amusing... great video... Thanks...
Great video of a typical Greek harbour when the charter boats arrive.
There is always something to learn and I learned just how much I like yellow bikinis 😎
Once again great vid ... Thanks!
Hope you both have a great holiday season, hope you find grapes for your New Year, or was that Christmas celebration could never remember when my mom that Spanish tradition. Oh yes, stay safe and free of that bug. 👍🙂
Thanks so much. Have a wonderful holidays. 🤙
Well, atleast you had free entertainment. Lol. Good on you for helping. Not enough people willing to help others in this crazy world.
we call it ''harbor TV'' fun to watch
Gouvia in Corfu does have full check in facilities, we've done it there.
Livin the dream ⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
Reminds us of Richmond Centre parking lot on a Saturday afternoon! Love the scenery here. We can definitely see why you were so happy to go to Greece..
That was an “interesting” but beautiful spot. 👍
what is the technique for unfouling the line? thanks
I think quiet anchorages in Greece are a better idea. Entertaining as these characters are...
Hey, it makes good "TV" though!
Nicely done. Often hear of these "cruiser's guides" but see no reference to them. Can you point some links or names to them to lean more about it?
“Cruiser guides” are available for almost every area of the world. We typically find most guides we need through the website Noonsite. Excellent overall resource for everything. 👍
Cliff hanger! What is the technique for unfouling the line? Can't believe you just left us hanging.
That anchorage reminds me of bumper cars at the amusement park 🤣
It was pretty crazy for sure.
Looks like you guys are still having lots of fun on the water. What was the issue with the Transit Log? (Normally they last 18 months in Greece.) Don't they allow Australians or is it Canadians to stay longer than 30 days?
Hey Michael...it was the fact that the boat is registered in Canada and our passports were Australian....and they needed those to match up apparently....I think we got a very unhappy immigration guy as I have never heard of it being a problem as long as you pay your cruising fee every month
@@SailingZephyr thanks for the clarity, now I see why having an EU registered boat in the Med is the ideal solution. looking forward to following your 20212 escapades.
A tip for detaching from shore: Shoulda left the aft port line on the cleat. Then she can pull herself to the boat with the line. Way better than having her chase after the boat in the water while carrying the entire stern line.
At the rock, use half hitches, not a bowline, as the former can be untied under load.
Now I know why she put on flippers, which otherwise shouldn’t be needed. Sometimes the mooring rick is up on shore a ways.
Thanks SailGeja! We didn’t have a clue what we were doing! Hahaha 😂 makes total sense what you’re saying! Merry Xmas and happy new year
Man, leave us hanging?!? What's your magic trick for how to disentangle a fouled anchor?
You teased us about going to shore and checking out the town, but no footage.....????? Was there nothing to write home about???
Nat! Where are you originally from in Oz? What's with this "old mate" biz?
LOL
Have you been in the bush somewhere for a while?
Hahahah! Not the bush but a fair few islands in NQ....picked up some good ol’ sayings! Hahaha
top tip is NOT TO ANCHOR where the ferry does ... you will be responsible for the consequences whatever they may be
Ah, come on! you tease us with this awesome technique to get the chain unfouled and then nothin. :>( You can't leave us hanging like that! FYI, I would have been out there with you helping out others in distress. It is just not in my blood to stand bye and not help.
Ahhh. Sorry mate. Will post something soon on the anchor save. But it’s no more complicated than securing one end of a line to the forward cleat, loop the other end under the fouled chain and secure it to the forward cleat. Lower your anchor till it’s free and then either slip the fouled chain and raise your anchor or raise your anchor till it’s past the fouled chain and then slip the fouled chain. 🤙
also there are so many OTHER beautiful places to anchor that makes these locations just an unnecessary hassle
sail rage
No thanks, I would hate that place
It was pretty crazy.
Having been to this exact spot thrice (albeit mooring at the harbour quay) I can guarantee you that it is indeed a lovely place to spend a night... if you enjoy loud music, dancing and partying, that is. :D
