Thank you, Andraz! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and thank you for sharing this amazing content! Beautiful work! Beautiful country! Thanks from America.
Andraz, you’ve become a kind of hero to me. I dreamt of doing exactly what you are doing when I was your age. But medical school, 24 hour shifts, and city living kept me from realizing my dream. You’re young and strong, and that’s the time to do what you do. One word I would use to describe your magnificent videos. Immersive. I guess the Teletubbie cam (very funny. I laughed out loud) view helps. Not so much watching you climb and ski and scrabble, but being there with you. You have a fine, dry sense of humor, so your narration is excellent. Your channel is not a vanity project at all. “Here I am on Aconcagua”, or whatever. It’s about the journey and not so much the destination. Sometimes you wisely abort a tour because of weather or snow conditions. That’s reality. With your keen sense of the hazards of alpinism, you’ll still be in the mountains at 90. Like John Muir said, “time spent in the mountains will never be subtracted from the sum of your life”. So you’ll live to be 115 at the rate you’re going. I’ve watched every video you’ve put on TH-cam. Wow, how you’ve progressed. You should be #1 in outdoor adventure. I watch a lot of alpinism content, but once I saw your channel, I was hooked. Slovenia is a gorgeous country. And I’m glad to see you taking full advantage of it. Have a great Christmas, brother. And keep the videos coming.
Thank you Mike for sharing your thoughts, kind words & wishes! I really really appreciate it ❤️ I have lots of respect for people in the medical field. Thank you for helping people and saving lives 🙏 There’s just one thing I would add… it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Go out there brother 🏞️😀 Happy holidays!
You’re not only a remarkable alpinist, history teacher, and TH-camr - but also an exceptional human being - very articulate and down to earth. Keep it up Andraz, you‘re an inspiration and your content truly brings me joy while trying to navigate through some of the worst days of my life.
Agreed! I’ve watched every one of his videos and may watch some again. I like that a young man’s motto is to “leave it better than you found it”. I’m sure he has proud parents.
Calm down, he's neither articulate nore does he know history... He literally thought a piece of metal that he dated back to ww1, a piece of a missile... You don't have to be a history teacher to know there were no missiles in ww1
@@user-ve7hn2dh8h im a history teacher and he tries his best to include some history content in his adventures, he also doesn’t claim it’s 100 % correct - his input feels natural and not forced. I have been a history nerd since highschool 42 years ago with a long term fascination with WW1. This video was different because, to me, it brought a real human effect to the alpine war. The view around you gave me chills thinking of the men who fought and died in such a place so forbidding for men to live in. Great work.
What extraordinary men the soldiers were to have carved out the tracks and caves into the mountains, and then to haul up artillery and supplies. Thank you Andraz for giving us the stories and the incredible images!
Best of the season to you Andraz. Thankyou for showing us this remarkable place. I have followed for a long time. Best climbing vlogs on YT. Cheers from the Rockies in Canada. 🇨🇦✌️

Andraz, you’re by far my favorite TH-camr right now. Your content is amazing-I really enjoy your videos! You keep it so natural, with no need for unnecessary music or crazy editing; it's just nice and simple. It’s hard to find content of this quality nowadays. I was an exchange student in Slovenia, and seeing all the beautiful nature in your videos brings back such wonderful memories from your country. Thank you for your content, and keep up the great work!
Me and my wife came across your channel here on Christmas Day and we just love it. What a great Christmas gift, subscribed and now we're going to enjoy watching all your videos.. Thankyou for such beautiful videos .. 😊
Having had to regularly carry in excess of 120lb in weight on my back in the military I can relate to the men in WW1, but my admiration for them is something else, in peace time it was hard but to do it under fire in all weathers respect to all of them regardless of what side they were on, I really enjoyed the video, thanks for posting.
Greetings from New Hampshire, USA! Love how you give the history of the places you climb. I also love your philosophy of life! As an old retired teacher I welcome your episodes! My best wishes for a Blessed Christmas for you and yours and for a Happy and a Healthy New Year. May you continue to find solutions for your back and feet issues! 💞🎄☃️
Yep this area was Soška fronta - Isonzo Front. In summer it was hellish hot, in winter bitter cold. Since explosions tore so much rock debris that killed people, both armies had to drill into the mountain for safety. In august of 1915 Italian army defeated Hungarians on top of the highest mountain in the ridge. Since then fight occurred on plateau next to it where they drilled against each other in order to place explosives and blow up the enemy. Austro-Hungarians succeeded to detonate the front line on the plateau that was the largest explosion in this frontline in whole war. Lowered the plateau quite a bit. I visit this mountain every year, kind of pilgrimage . In summer I prefer to go there as early as possible since the sun otherwise still bakes everything. In winter if there is enough of snow, I hear people like to ski on the west face. Don't play with munitions if you find some. Black powder never goes bad.
For everyone of you asking, at minute 15:40 obviously Andraz Is joking, no pyramids of egypt over there😅 they are the italian dolomites and the One signed by the Arrow Is Monte Antelao. I knew a man, Dave Thomas, who has now passed on, who was a British soldier attached to the Italian army and fought along that line. What a dreadful place to fight. He said the worst was that they didn’t shoot at your position but above it to rain rock and ice down on you.
I grew up with a former Former German Soldier in a local ski club for the youth. Occasionally he would be at the lodge and be outside giving basic lessons while kids waited for official instructors. I was standing there and he gripped his ski poles both of his thumbs pointing forward on the ski pole. I asked “Willi why do you hold your ski poles differently than the other instructors?” He furrowed his brown and did not know what I meant. I held my ski poles in the manner they teach you grasping your ski poles with your thumbs facing towards one another. I grinned and said in his thick German accent “So when you unt-shhhhki and deploy bayonet!” Whipping his poles and pointing them directly forward with would be down hill and the points raised like a bayonet charge on ski’s. This is what he was secretly teaching us kids in ski club.
Thank you for this Andraž. Krn and Batognica are always in my heart when I climb there. I loved those mountains when I lived in Slovenia. Not only how beautiful the scenery is but also as you said it’s a huge museum with lots of history… and weirdly you can feel the lost souls there. Hvala lepa za video. Vesel božič in srečno novo leto.
Awesome video. I was in Slovenia for the first times a few days ago and I realised people there are chill and calm like Andraz, very nice people and such an underrated country. You need "Nice ice bath" merch. Love the history along with the adventures.
I loved experiencing the adventures through your eyes, these are places I can never get to. Thank you for all the effort spent in making those videos. Merry christmas! 🎉
Awesome video! Literally such a crazy view everytime.
Appreciate it! 😊🙏
